BACKGROUND: This study aimed to identify the prevalence of depression and assess the quality of life with the emergence of a global COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey METHODS: This was a descriptive and cross-sectional study An online questionnaire was conducted, including demographics, the self-rating depression scale (SDS), and the quality of life (WHOQOL) evaluation RESULTS: The overall prevalence of depression was 15 4% in our sample, with 505 participants SDS overall mean in participants was 39 50 +/- 9 02, which indicates no psychopathology There was a significant difference between the quality of life scores according to depressive levels (P=0 001) except general health (P=0 25) CONCLUSIONS: In the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, mild and moderate depression has been identified Quality of life is becoming the most critical issue to improve physical, social, and mental components Besides, to prevent the spread of the virus, mental health, and quality of life improvement interventions should become priority public health strategies

The COVID-19 pandemic is evolving rapidly as an overwhelming burden on human health and health systems of many countries includes low resource settings like Bangladesh The country is facing crisis and several challenges to manage confirmed and symptomatic cases with limited administrative and logistic support, inadequate governance and widespread panic and stigma throughout the country As the number of persons with COVID-19 and death are increasing there is a potential of heightened mass panic, stress and discrimination in coming days which can be predicted from recent protests in different parts of the country, spread of rumors and falsehoods, non-scientific information, limitations in governance and growing discrimination towards certain group of population and professionals As World Health Organization (WHO) speculated this trajectory of pandemic is uncertain, this emerging body of stigma and discrimination needs to be addressed by proper authorities, “infodemic” should be controlled by legal steps and mass awareness campaigns should be launched without further delays © 2020 Edizioni Minerva Medica Online version at http://www minervamedica it

Background: the aim of this study was to evaluate the burnout syndrome among nurses who are engaged in the care of patients with coronavirus disease (cOviD-19) a cohort observational- survey study was carried among italian nurses who work in the italian intensive care Unit (icU) during the pandemic cOviD-19 period MethODs: the questionnaire was published online on Google form, modules section, from March 25, 2020 to april 26, 2020 The questionnaire contained a first part of demographic data, as: gender, years of experience, if the nurse interviewed at the time of the pandemic cOviD-19 event was already working in an icU or if, due to the urgency of the context, he/she was transferred to an icU that was set up during this period then, the Maslach Burnout inventory (MBi) questionnaire was administered to evaluate the burnout level among nurses who are in direct contact with critically ill patients with cOviD-19 resULts: 291 nurses answered the survey With the MBi threshold values in mind, it can be seen that the clinical condition of burnout can be configured for all three dimensions, both for women and men As regards the dimension of emotional exhaustion, female nurses are more exposed to the phenomenon than men (P<0 001) however, for the other two dimensions there are no statistically different differences between the two sexes (depersonalization: P=0 809;personal accomplishment: P=0 268) cOncLUsiOns: Burnout levels are high among nurses surely the situation since cOviD-19 has accentuated the result, regardless of the years of experience or if the nurses have always worked in opposed intensive care units have been transferred due to the health emergency also interesting is the aspect of the trend of burnout levels between female nurses who are they are more affected by emotional exhaustion than male nurses © 2020 Edizioni Minerva Medica Online version at http://www minervamedica it
