This paper describes and analyses a solution to the problem of interoperability between Intelligent Networks and Voice over IP (VoIP) networks for directory-based routing. We will present an architecture based on a distributed database on the circuit switched network and the IP netll'ork. The aim of the solution is to provide efficient service management, efficient routing for 800- and cellular numbers and personal number portability between both architectures.

This article consists of a collection of slides from the author's conference presentation. There are various ways to open the value chain for 3n1 party service providers, giving them an interface to perform call control and also creating the foundation for other more advanced services (e.g. electronic commerce) within telecommunication PSTN network. The most promising and convenient for an IN architecture seems to be the use of APIs. The authors believe also that access through APIs is probably the easiest solution for third parties. In particular the Parlay API is discussed. The authors have been developing demo applications using the Parlay API on top of COREA. The demo is composed of three parts: third party's application (Parlay client- somewhere on the Internet), application on our network (Parlay peer) and part of the application for the mapping our INAP dialect to Parlay API (Parlay server). The development and the structure of the applications are described. The architecture of the application based on CORBA make it possible to change both third parties applications and the underlying PSTN network mapping part, with minimal interventions in the Parlay peer. In this work they discuss the advantages and drawbacks of their implementation and problems faced during the development and testing of the Call Control scenarios of interest.

This article consists of a collection of slides from the author's PowerPoint conference presentation. The proposal presents a new methodology for providing e-commerce type services on the WWW using an extended TINA Service Provider (TSP) model. The TSP is an extension of the Value-Added Web (VAW) which aims to introduce the TINA business model and service architecture components into the Internet to help reduce the web related problems. The new model allows for seamless integration with existing e-commerce solutions whilst providing a number of additional valueadded services.

This article consists of a collection of slides from the author's conference presentation. Firstly, the presentation introduces the evolution of IN towards a two layer architecture. Implementation aspects of the so-called lower layer IN are addressed. Further, the lower layer IN's role with respect to open network provisioning is outlined - which requires service operator gateway functions in order to ensure network integrity and interworking with advanced applications. A virtual contact center is shown as an example for a corporate service operator application. The presentation concludes by listing the mayor benefits of the two layer architecture.
