Radio frequency electronics on plastic 塑料上的射频电子器件

In this paper the recent progress of active high frequency electronics on plastic is discussed. This technology is mechanically flexible, bendable, stretchable and does not need any rigid chips. Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) technology is applied. At 2 V supply and gate length of 0.5 μm, the thin-film transistors (TFTs) yield a measured transit frequency of 138 MHz. Our scalable TFT compact simulation model shows good agreement with measurements. To achieve a sufficiently high yield, TFTs with gate lengths of around 5 μm are used for the circuit design. A Cherry Hopper amplifier with 3.5 MHz bandwidth, 10 dB gain and 5 mW dc power is presented. The fully integrated receiver covering a plastic foil area of 3 × 9 mm2 includes a four stage cascode amplifier, an amplitude detector, a baseband amplifier and a filter. At a dc current of 7.2 mA and a supply of 5 V, a bandwidth of 2 - 20 MHz and a gain beyond 15 dB were measured. Finally, an outlook regarding future advancements of high frequency electronics on plastic is given.

A 3D hybrid integration methodology for terabit transceivers 一种用于太比特收发器的三维混合集成方法

This paper presents a three-dimensional (3D) hybrid integration methodology for terabit transceivers. The simulation methodology for multi-conductor structures are explained. The effect of ground vias on the RF circuitry and the preferred interposer substrate material for large bandwidth 3D hybrid integration are described. An equivalent circuit model of the via-throughs connecting the RF circuitry to the modulator is proposed and its lumped element parameters are extracted. Wire bonding transitions between the driving and RF circuitry were designed and simulated. An optimized 3D interposer design demonstrated a simulated -3 dB transmission bandwidth up to 95 GHz with associated return loss better than 10 dB. A thermal analysis of a subassembly for the packaged transmitter module is performed. A maximum temperature of 74 °C is predicted when copper-tungsten is used as the material of the sub-mount and heat sink layer.

Spice simulations of inductive Nonlinear Transmission Lines 电感非线性传输线的Spice模拟

Nonlinear Transmission Lines (NLTLs) have been used with great success in radiofrequency (RF) generation using a train of oscillatory waves produced at the output load. There are two configurations of NLTLs, the first one is a dispersive line consisting of sections with nonlinear components, and the second one is a continuous and non-dispersive line. The objective of this paper is to study the effect of the line parameters on the second configuration (also known as gyromagnetic line) based on an analytical model by means of SPICE circuit simulation, leading to a great compression of the pulse rise time at the output. The influence of several parameters such as line capacitance, saturation inductance, number of sections and load resistance are illustrated through comparison among different values on the same model configuration. It is expected that the technique presented here can be useful in the future for the design of NLTLs in space applications and mobile defense platforms of compact size.

Performance comparison for Raman+EDFA and EDFA+Raman hybrid amplifiers using recycled multiple pump lasers for WDM systems WDM系统中使用回收多泵浦激光器的拉曼+EDFA和EDFA+拉曼混合放大器的性能比较

This work extends the optimization of the gain profile for hybrid amplifiers by evaluating the performance of the configurations Raman+EDFA and EDFA+Raman considering multiple input channels simultaneously. An approximated technique to optimize the gain profile of multiple Raman pump lasers in order to obtain broadband hybrid amplifiers under residual pump recycling is applied to hybrid amplifiers with two stages, EDFA and Raman, for WDM systems. Multiple input channels allowed the gain characterization of the hybrid amplifiers of the two proposed configurations in terms of global gain, ripple, and noise figure. Results have presented global gain and noise figure values of approximately 40 dB and 4 dB, respectively, whereas obtained ripple values approximately of 0.8 dB, considering the EDFA+Raman hybrid amplifier configuration.

A dual-band slotted waveguide antenna array for radars applications 用于雷达应用的双波段开槽波导天线阵列

This paper describes the design and fabrication of a novel dual-band slotted waveguide antenna array for radar applications. The radiation structure is composed by two groups of slots, milled into the rectangular waveguide in opposite faces, enabling the antenna operation over two different frequency bands. Using this innovative structure becomes possible to perform diverse sorts of tracking using a unique structure for different radar applications, such as maritime navigation, surveillance and communications. Numerical results were obtained by ANSYS HFSS and measurements demonstrate two operational bandwidths over the S- and C-frequency bands. The antenna gain varies from 14.41dBi to 17.64dBi at 2.25GHz and 4.91GHz, respectively.

In vivo analysis of bone strain using fiber Bragg grating sensor and decision tree algorithm in bovine during masticatory movements 基于光纤光栅传感器和决策树算法的牛咀嚼运动中骨应变的体内分析

This study focused on the development of a biosensor able to follow the deformations of the bone tissue and to allow for future studies in the areas of health sciences. The biosensor is designed with a titanium mesh, which is fixed in the jaws of the animal to be monitored. The animal received different kinds of foods to allow analysis of the signal acquired during feeding. The acquired signal was then subjected to a processing, which has been classified and capable of identifying the animal chewing process for each type of food. This technology has application in grazing, and can be useful in studies related to nutrition and animal health. The classification of the masticatory patterns is based on decision trees algorithm. The results demonstrate that the sensor is effective and is able to capture the differences in the deformation generated during the chewing process, generating a signal that can be identified by the algorithm presented.

This paper presents the complete synthesis, 3D numerical analysis, construction and measurement of an Ultra wideband (UWB) planar monopole antenna. The antenna measurements showed good agreement with the predicted numerical results, for both scattering parameters and gain patterns.

Wideband notch filter acoustically induced in a chirped fiber Bragg grating 啁啾光纤光栅中声诱导的宽带陷波滤波器

A notch filter acoustically induced in a 1 cm long chirped fiber Bragg grating is experimentally investigated. The notch reflectivity (2.5 dB - 25 dB) and bandwidth (9 nm - 3 nm) are tuned by an electrical signal. The reduction of the grating and modulator size for achieving the acousto-optic modulation compared to previous works, points out for more efficient acousto-optic devices in standard optical fibers.

Applying Power Series Routing algorithm in transparent elastic optical networks 幂级数路由算法在透明弹性光网络中的应用

In this paper, we propose two adaptations of the Power Series Routing (PSR) algorithm for transparent elastic optical networks: PSR algorithm with normalized distance and slot availability (PSRNDA) and PSR algorithm for normalized distance and slot contiguity (PSRNDC). In our analysis, we consider amplified spontaneous emission as physical impairment, different modulation formats and bit transmission rates, as well as losses on spectrum selective switch (SSS) devices. The results are obtained in terms of call blocking probability as a function of the network load. Comparing our proposed algorithms to several others present in the literature, our proposals overcame all of them.

Improved field homogeneity for transmission line MRI coils using series capacitors 采用串联电容改善传输线MRI线圈的磁场均匀性

High field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems often use short sections of transmission lines for generating and sensing alternating magnetic fields. Due to distributed nature of transmission lines, the generated field is inhomogeneous. This work investigates the application of series capacitors to improve the field homogeneity. The resulting magnetic field distribution is estimated analytically and evaluated numerically. The results are compared to a case of a conventional transmission line coil realization.
