We investigate the transmission modes of metal-clad polarization maintaining fiber polarizers theoretically and experimentally, and propose a new method to demonstrate the TE modes are preferentially transmitted by the metal-clad polarization maintaining fiber polarizers.

This paper built a model to calculate macro-bending losses of the circular photonic crystal fiber (C-PCF) supporting orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes, analyzed the loss characteristics and concluded that C-PCFs possess an excellent bending resistance.

Determination of the complex permittivity of ultrathin H2-infused palladium coatings for plasmonic fiber optic sensors in the near infrared 近红外等离子体光纤传感器用超薄h2注入钯涂层复介电常数的测定

We report measurements of the complex permittivity of 7 nm thick palladium thin films exposed to concentrations of 0 to 3 % (by volume) of hydrogen in nitrogen at wavelengths near 1310 nm. Measurements were carried out with a tilted fiber Bragg grating first coated with 30 nm of gold and then palladium at several thicknesses between 3 and 43 nm. Simulations of the grating response based on measurable experimental parameters indicate that for palladium thicknesses between 3 and 10 nm the measured changes in the grating transmission become independent of thickness. Therefore, for a 7 nm thick film any change in transmission can be traced directly to changes in permittivity. The relative change of the permittivity of the palladium layer was found to scale linearly with hydrogen concentration with a scaling factor of −0.093/%H2 for hydrogen concentrations between 0 and 1.7%. The limit of detection of the grating configuration used was determined to be 380 ppm at three times the standard deviation for measurements averaged over 80 seconds.

We demonstrate for the first time the stabilization and regulation of a coherent random lasing system, i.e., an Erbium doped random fiber laser with disordered array of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) based on the injection locking technology. The proposed method is also applicable to general disordered systems, providing an efficient way to control or select light emission in these systems.

Thermal Properties of Luminescence in Bismuth/Erbium Co-Doped Optical Fibre 铋/铒共掺光纤中发光的热特性

Thermal properties of luminescence in bismuth/erbium co-doped optical fibre (BEDF) have been investigated. In particular, the fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) characteristics with regard to Er3+ and aluminum-related bismuth active center (BAC-Al) is studied. Similar thermal characteristics of FIR to that reported in erbium-doped optical fibre (EDF) is observed. The results demonstrate that BEDF may also be used for FIR related temperature sensing applications.

Performance Enhancement of a Broadband Polarization Rotator by using Modified Mode Converters 用改模变换器增强宽带偏振旋转器的性能

A performance enhanced polarization rotator with high tolerance to fabrication on SOI platform is designed and analyzed. Simulation results show that ER>46dB is obtained at 1550nm, and ultra-wide bandwidth of 1440nm-1660nm is achieved for ER>20dB.

Joint Optimization for Combined Jobs Scheduling and Routing in the Edge Computing based EON 基于EON边缘计算的联合作业调度和路由联合优化

We demonstrate faster-than-Nyquist WDM transmission of 4.096Tb/s (32×128Gb/s) 16-QAM signal with Kramers-Kronig detection. After 80km SSMF transmission, the BERs are all below 4.5×10−3, achieving net spectral efficiency of 4.04bit/s/Hz for single polarization 16-QAM signal.

Dissipative Kerr soliton microcombs with tunable center-frequency and mode-spacing are experimentally demonstrated. Continuous center frequency tunability over 2 GHz, and discrete mode-spacing change over 3-fold are realized while precisely maintaining DKS state unchanged.

Mode competition bistability is reported for a square-rectangular coupled cavity semiconductor laser. Single mode operations with a tuning range larger than 30 nm are realized for a coupled-cavity semiconductor laser with a deformed square microcavity.
