This study theorizes IT project success by integrating the project level drivers to the IT, business, and environment level enablers. An attempt is made to delve into underlying structures below the project level in order to understand the systemic reasons behind a particular success or failure. In this journey we rely on the general systems theory and the key concepts like elements, state, properties, process, hierarchy, and environment. It is shown that IT projects can be straightly abstracted by the general system principles. Within the systemic framework, potential factors behind the success of the IT projects are identified, the relationships between the factors are hypothesized and then the hypotheses are integrated into a hierarchical research model. Finally, the hypotheses and the research model are empirically evaluated. According to the results it was confirmed that all levels considered in the research model have significant impacts on the success of an IT project. Similarly, a significant improvement in IT project management in terms of project success can be obtained by improving the quality of involved factors. A favorable financial situation, highly-perceived importance of IT, sound business – IT alignment, and good IT and IT project competencies have remarkably significant positive impacts on the success of IT projects.

In order to survive in competitive markets, modern organizations introduce enterprise resourcing planning systems to enhance their competitive positions and their survivability in competitive markets. Nevertheless, organizations often fail to utilize and explore this new system's functionalities to achieve business objectives and have not fulfilled their expected effectiveness after adopting it. Given that countless companies fail to implement ERP systems successfully in recent decades, the aim of this study is to explore the inner workings of employees' attitudes towards ERP systems from the perspective organizational change. The results from a sample of 334 respondents in Taiwan provide additional insight into the mechanism through which transformational leadership influences employees' attitudes towards ERP systems.

Effective team management is one of the key factors that allow companies to tackle the challenges of today's demanding business environment. Although high-performing teams have been studied for some time, very little has been written on them from the construction industry's perspective. Based on the conclusions of previous work and on a project involving 44 professionals of seven teams, this exploratory case study intends to evaluate if there is a gap between what team members and leaders perceive as being a the most important features for managing teams into high performance and b the features that are present in their teams. The present study shows that, although teams under investigation had some high-performing features at the leadership dimension, there is room for improvement, in particular when it comes to empowering team members, involving them in planning the work, and creating proper reward systems.

Software engineering productivity has been widely studied, but there are many issues that remain unsolved. Interesting works related to new metrics and more replications of past productivity analysis have emerged, however, in order to fulfill these unsolved issues, a consensus about influencing factors and well recognized and useful sets of inputs and outputs for using in measurements must be reached. In this regard, a clear state of the art may shed light on further research in software engineering productivity, which remains a promising research area. In this paper, general concepts of software engineering productivity along with general issues and recent challenges that need further attention from the research community are presented.

A Resource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem With Multi-Modes
IF 0.8 Q2 Social Sciences Pub Date : 1900-01-01 DOI: 10.4018/IJITPM.2020010104
Cansu Altintas, M. Azizoglu
In this study, the authors consider a project scheduling problem with a single non-renewable resource. The authors assume that the resource is released at scheduled times and specified quantities and the resource is consumed at activity completion. The activities can be processed at different modes where a mode is defined by a processing time and a resource requirement amount. The problem is to select the modes and timings of the activities so as to minimize the project completion time. The authors give a mixed integer linear programming model and discuss some variable elimination mechanisms to enhance its efficiency.
