ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between salivary pH and dental caries in patients with Down syndrome who came to the Fundacion Asistencial Armada Nacional (FASAN) - Guayaquil. Materials and methods: In this research there was a sample of 58 individuals between the ages of 4 and 25, both genders. Salivary pH was measured placing sublingually pH indicator strips. Surveys of dietary habits for parents and a complete diagnosis of caries and plaque index was also performed. It was observed that 50% of patients with down syndrome had a neutral initial salivary pH, without a great difference 43% where at an acid salivary ph. unlike the salivary pH that was taken after 10 minutes of the ingestion of sugar beverages, acidic pH prevailed with 83% related to the amount of caries found in the sample within the ranges (low risk of caries 57% and moderate 22%) and plaque present in 59% with level 2 of dental plaque. we found a higher risk in caries in males with a 59% and the age range that was most affected was 12 to 18 years. There is a close relationship between acid salivary pH and caries present in the mouth as it was found that all patients suffered from dental caries with a prevalence between low and moderate levels of caries risk, with a high level of dental plaque (level 2 of dental plaque) due mainly to poor oral hygiene. 俄罗斯observed, 50% of patients with唐氏综合症pH中性initial salivary癌,without a great difference 43% where at an所salivary pH unlike the pH salivary采取的that was after 10 minutes of the摄取of sugar everfresh pH, acidic prevailed with 83% related to the .龋齿found in the sample within the ranges (low risk of龋齿57%和22%)辐射计plaque目前依法59% level 2 of牙科plaque。 There is close a relationship between所salivary pH and龋齿目前in the mouth as it was found that all patients, from牙龋齿with a prevalence低与11辐射计的龋齿风险,with a high level of牙科plaque (level 2 of牙科plaque)由于mainly to poor口腔卫生。
