The technological development of the last decades and the so-called revolution in military affairs have not only produced beneficial consequences for human society, but have also opened the possibility of developing new technologies for the benefit of the terrorist organizations. These include infrasound and ultrasound technology, sources with continuous or pulsed operation, capable of acting in a very discreet regime, being very hard to detect, also capable of causing serious harm to human health and even the death. The fact that such devices have the ability to act completely silently amplifies their dangerousness. The present paper aims to present a series of relatively simple technologies for making such weapons which can work with acoustic waves in the non-audible regime. The field is interesting and the rapid technological evolution leaves this chapter open to further debates.

An effective bimodal palm print and palm vein biometric person recognition method is suggested in this paper. Palm print is referred to as the external biometric line comprising main lines, wrinkles, and ridges on the palm surface and the palm vein is the structure of the lines below the palm surface. For individuals, these patterns are unique, stable and they provide enormous important information for person identification. The features of both modalities are extracted using a Sobel operator and grey code encoding techniques. The suggested framework is rigorously checked on the CASIA multispectral database and uses decision level and feature level fusion techniques to achieve the best FAR 0.0047 & FRR 0.050. The Proposed image fusion technique results in performance improvement than the individual biometric identification.

The research addresses the issues of collection and transmission of measurement data when monitoring various construction objects and bridge structures. The issues were resolved by developing a distributed system using Wi-Fi technologies. The results of measurements of the following parameters and data were obtained: the distance between cracks and joints, magnetometer readings and location and possible inclination of objects in three axes according to accelerometer and gyroscope data. By configuring the server, new channels are created for receiving data, which allow their subsequent processing and complete analysis of the study, for example, to solve the problem of predicting the technical conditions of construction and bridge objects. The completeness of the analysis of the study solves the problem of identifying and detecting possible errors and determining delays in the communication system. In general, the validity of all research results plays an important role in predicting the technical conditions of various objects and in finding solutions to problems arising from the technical difficulties of remote control. In this regard, the issue of the validity of the choice of Wi-Fi modules, which take into account the parameters of power consumption and availability of the boards of these modules for programming in order to obtain results of measurements in a long time has been posed and resolved. Setting power consumption parameters made it possible to increase the research time at remote sites, which in turn increases the durability and life of the control system. The simplicity of programming the module boards and support of various electronic sensors allow varying the scope and research objects, thereby expanding the geography of the subject area of research. Therefore, the developed distributed system is easily adapted to the necessary problem areas of research, the monitoring results of which can be used in many areas, such as agriculture, ecology, power, health care, meteorology and others

Plant diseases cause the most important losses in production, financial system, and quantity of agricultural products. Considering the fact that 70% of the Indian financial system is depending on agricultural yield, there's a need to control the loss incurred by the plant diseases. It is necessary to monitor the plants from its initial stage of their life-cycle to keep away from diseases. The conventional technique that is used for this supervision is a naked eye and that is more time-consuming, expensive. To overcome this problem, there is a need for an automated system which will help the farmers to identify the plant diseases without having any overheads. Many researchers have developed many systems and algorithms based totally on diverse strategies of Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques. In this paper we review some of the most recent methods that have been used to identify the plant diseases and also describe the different methods of plant leaves disease detection that help the growth of agriculture to improve the lifestyle of the farmers.

This paper reports the established patterns of change in the acoustic emission signals by approximating the models of the destruction of a composite material in the form of a bundle of fibers according to the OR criterion and Mises criterion. It has been shown that increasing the coefficient that characterizes the ratio of the size of the elements of the composite material leads to that the pattern of change in the equivalent stresses according to the OR criterion is approaching the pattern of change by Mises criterion. At a certain value of the coefficient, according to the OR criterion, the equivalent stresses are aligned with a minimal deviation from each other. However, this alignment is limited to a specific change period. We have established patterns of change in the number of elements, which remain, as well as the signals of acoustic emission according to the OR criterion with the regularity of their change approaching that based on the Mises criterion. It has been shown that at the best approximation of the equivalent stresses according to the criteria there is a good agreement of the patterns of change in the number of a composite's elements, remaining in time, and the parameters for the formed signals of acoustic emission with their minimal deviation. It has been determined that the deviations in the parameters of acoustic emission signals are due to the difference in the rate of change in the equivalent stresses in proportion to approaching the time when a composite material starts breaking according to the OR criterion and Mises criterion. It has been determined that with the increasing deformation rate of a composite material, the patterns of change in the equivalent stresses approaching those based on the OR criterion and Mises criterion, the number of the remaining elements in the composite over time, and the parameters of acoustic emission signals are maintained. However, these patterns are observed at smaller intervals of time. The results obtained could be used in the study of the destructive processes of composite materials, taking into consideration the influence of various factors.

The development of a Wi-Fi-controlled video machine using Arduino NANO is described. The connection diagram of Arduino NANO and additional modules is presented. The relevance of the topic under development is emphasized by the increasing demand for the use of remotely controlled video devices. A Wi-Fi-controlled video device (machine) was developed, which is powered by a battery that is connected to the charge controller module with microUSB. Possible battery life is 5-6 hours without recharging. In the process of developing a Wi-Fi-controlled video machine, a large amount of work was carried out, including adding the necessary libraries for the correct writing of programs and determining the necessary conditions for the functioning of the device. Program (sketch) for controlling the engines of the machine is also developed; the main components for creating the device are identified. For the mobile camera application to work, it is necessary to download the JoyLite application from the AppStore or PlayMarket; after which the smartphone “connects” to the Wi-Fi network and the SANNCE HD 720p camera. In the software part of the development of a Wi-Fi-controlled video machine using Arduino NANO in the Arduino IDE software environment, the program (sketch) was developed for the SANNCE HD 720p “JoyLite” mobile application. This program configures the signals from the stepper motors of the camera to asynchronous motors of the machine, as well as adjusting the speed of the wheels. During the tests of the device, it turned out that the Wi-Fi-controlled video machine has a sensitivity to speed impacts, namely, the speed should exceed 255 r/s. The developed Wi-Fi-controlled video machine can be used in various fields. For example, the device can be used in systems such as "Smart Home" or in security systems, or be implemented as a training project in the course of robotics.

Precision medicine and personalized treatment can be effectively achieved through a combination of machine learning ML techniques and data gathered through specialized biosensors. However, the biggest challenge appears to be need of better data – in terms of both quality and quantity – on which to apply appropriate ML techniques. While ML can uncover deeper dependencies between the data, it requires enough good data to capture these dependencies. No matter how good the ML algorithms are, they cannot find something which is not in the training set. Hence, better (in terms of both quality and quantity) datasets are required to train algorithms. This, in turn, means that improved biosensors are needed to deliver such comprehensive, specialized data. The first section of the report provides a comprehensive literature review of personalized medicine applications employing ML methods on sensor data, under categories of Mobile sensing and portable devices, Neuroimaging, Brain Machine Interface, Omics and electronic health records, and Biosensor systems. While the first section is focused on opportunities and successes described in the literature, the second section highlights the key challenges which need to be addressed in order to take full advantage of the benefits ML can offer in the areas of personalized medicine. They also underscore the need for biosensors which provide better quality and quantity of data on which ML may operate. The third section describes select “best practices” for ML applications: data quality management and validation, data visualization, and privacy preserving data analysis. Very effective interactive visualization can be delivered through a Shiny framework and R packages, and we present a representative interactive visualizer using real data. Lastly, the appendices provide additional information and references on data quality procedures, data visualization techniques, and topics in ML.

This, in turn, means that improved biosensors are needed to deliver such comprehensive, specialized data. \u0000 \u0000The first section of the report provides a comprehensive literature review of personalized medicine applications employing ML methods on sensor data, under categories of Mobile sensing and portable devices, Neuroimaging, Brain Machine Interface, Omics and electronic health records, and Biosensor systems. \u0000 \u0000While the first section is focused on opportunities and successes described in the literature, the second section highlights the key challenges which need to be addressed in order to take full advantage of the benefits ML can offer in the areas of personalized medicine. They also underscore the need for biosensors which provide better quality and quantity of data on which ML may operate. \u0000 \u0000The third section describes select “best practices” for ML applications: data quality management and validation, data visualization, and privacy preserving data analysis. Very effective interactive visualization can be delivered through a Shiny framework and R packages, and we present a representative interactive visualizer using real data. \u0000 \u0000Lastly, the appendices provide additional information and references on data quality procedures, data visualization techniques, and topics in ML.","PeriodicalId":433297,"journal":{"name":"EngRN: Signal Processing (Topic)","volume":"18 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132638760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
