COMBINED EFFECTS OF TERRAIN OROGRAPHY AND THERMAL STRATIFICATION ON POLLUTANT DISTRIBUTION IN A TOWN VALLEY: A T-RANS SIMULATION 地形地貌和热分层对城镇河谷污染物分布的综合影响:t-rans模拟

Combined effects of terrain orography and thermal stratification on the dispersion of pollutants in a mountainous town valley over a diurnal cycle are numerically simulated by a time-dependent Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (T-RANS) approach. The T-RANS model was incorporated into a finite volume NS solver for three-dimensional non-orthogonal domains, using Cartesian vector and tensor components and a collocated variable arrangement. Prior to the full scale simulations, the T-RANS approach was validated in test situations where the effects of thermal stratification and terrain orography are separated, showing good agreement with the available experimental and simulation data. The full scale simulations were performed in a realistic orography over two diurnal cycles for two cases of the initial thermal stratification, both with a prescribed time and space variation of ground temperature and pollutant emission—reflecting the daily activities in the town. THREE DIMENSIONALITY IN THE NEAR FIELD OF A ROUND JET 圆形射流近场的三维空间

A round air jet (Re = 16000) was studied using Stereo PIV techniques to understand the characteristics of all three velocity components in the developing shear layer and to study the evolution of three dimensionality with increasing axial distance. Pulsed laser sheets were aligned to illuminate the centerline plane of the jet. The stereo PIV setup was suitably calibrated to translate the resulting pixel displacements into axial, radial, and azimuthal velocity components. The RMS of the azimuthal velocity is of the order of 0.1Vo in the shear layer downstream of Y/D ~ 0.5. This is significantly earlier than reported in previous studies. Individual fields show that both vortex cores and braids are three dimensional. However, the initial azimuthal perturbations typically were associated with straining regions immediately upstream of the first vortex ring that formed.

LARGE EDDY SIMULATIONS OF TURBULENT FLOW AND INCLUSION TRANSPORT IN CONTINUOUS CASTING OF STEEL 钢连铸过程中湍流和夹杂物输运的大涡模拟

ABSTRACT Turbulent structures are important in influencing inclusion transport in continuous casting of steel. The turbulent velocity field and inclusion transport are studied in a full-scale water model using large eddy simulations. The computed fluid velocities are compared with measurements. Chaotic vortex structures were computed in the upper roll region as expected. The computed inclusion trajectories were processed to determine the inclusion removal rate to the top surface. The results agree reasonably with measurements from the water model. The removal of particle inclusions to the top surface is found to be independent of the particle initial positions at which they enter the mold.

Assessment of the wall shear stress measurement with arrayed micro hot-film sensors in a turbulent channel flow 用阵列微热膜传感器测量湍流通道壁面剪应力的评价

Arrayed micro hot-film sensors for the measurement of the streamwise and spanwise wall shear stresses were developed and evaluated in a turbulent channel flow. The bandwidth of the sensor is found to be much narrower than previous estimates in the literature. A numerical analysis of the unsteady thermal field around the sensor chip is made in order to obtain a clue to design a hot-film shear stress sensor having higher frequency response. It is found that the phase lag of the thermal boundary layer above the hot-film and the indirect convective heat transfer through the diaphragm are responsible for the deteriorated sensor response.
