The travel and tourism industry in the twentieth century has changed its eating patterns and meal preferences. Food to an extent is a reflection of social status and individual identification, hence, an explicit way of understanding customer's food consumption behaviour is to study their food preference. The provision of meals is one of the key determinants of meeting customers' expectations and satisfaction at destinations, hence, this study assessed the Socio-demographic profiles of customers' food preferences at ecotourism destinations in South Western, Nigeria. An exploratory research approach was conducted through the use of structured questionnaires for data gathering. The data were collected from a purposely selected population comprising both customers and staff of Ikogosi Warm Spring and Olumo Rock Resorts. The data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The Chi-Square results on meal preferences concerning age shows a significant influence of age on soup and starchy morsel, Assorted rice dishes, Yam and potato dishes, Beans and Beans products and Non-Alcoholic beverages, a significant association and influence was shown among genders for beans and beans products, customers income and education has no influence on their preference for alcoholic beverages and a significant relationship between food choices of customers and marital status was noticeable. The research findings reveal that customers' food preferences are shaped by Socio-demographic influences. This study concluded that the dimensions of customers' food preferences are majorly tilted towards Socio-demographic variables of age, gender, marital status, income and educational qualifications. It is recommended that customers' Socio-demographic characteristics should be a key indicator in food and beverage planning, preparation and marketing at ecotourism destinations.

This paper investigates perception and awareness of secondary schools’ students towards ecotourism in Ibadan Metropolis, Oyo state, Nigeria. Stratified random and purposive sampling techniques were employed for the study. A total of two hundred and forty students (240) were selected from 12 schools (six public and six private) for the study. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings from this study showed that 55.8% of the students were female, 80.4% and 15.0% were within the age range of 11-15 years and 0-10years respectively, 60.0% were Christian, and 39.2% were Islam. The findings also revealed how students felt about ecotourism. 88.8% of students believed that ecotourism is important, 92.5% agreed that it need to be taught in schools, and 89.6% felt that ecotourism destinations should have support by the government. Furthermore, the results showed the students' level of awareness regarding ecotourism: 50.8% of them did not know about it, 68.3% were taught about it in school, 89.2% reported that their school did not have an ecotourism social club, 50.8% was aware about ecotourism sites, and 56.7% had visited them. The mean weight score and perception score of students for ecotourism awareness and perception were all positive. There is no significant relationship between ecotourism awareness of the students and their perception about ecotourism. Also, the correlation between awareness and perception is 0.101, which is positive but not statistically significant (p-value = 0.118). This suggests that there is a weak positive relationship between ecotourism awareness and perception, but this relationship is not strong enough to conclude that there is a significant relationship. The study recommends that ecotourism education should be integrated into the school curriculum to increase the awareness and knowledge of students about ecotourism and the government should support ecotourism sites by providing necessary infrastructure and policies that promote conservation of natural resources.

This study explores the impact of strategic human resource practices on revenue maximization in Ghana's 3-5-star hotels across eight regions. Employing a descriptive survey method, data was gathered from 60 hotels, focusing on human resource practices and revenue strategies. Results reveal a robust correlation (R = 88.3%) between strategic human resource practices and revenue maximization. Regression analysis indicates a significant impact of "human resource" (β = 0.282, p < 0.001) on "revenue maximization." Factor analyses identify key practices, including pricing strategies, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction, crucial for revenue optimization in Ghana's hospitality industry. Policy implications underscore the importance of training initiatives, competitive hiring incentives, and technology integration in workforce development for enhanced revenue outcomes. These findings provide essential guidance for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and hotel management, emphasizing the alignment of human resource strategies with revenue objectives in the dynamic Ghanaian hospitality landscape.

The catering industry sector has been strongly affected by the health crisis, explaining an important turnover since the first lockdown. We have used the Theory of Social Representations (TSR) in order to illustrate the meaning given to the "catering" object, and to understand the position of professionals. Two groups of 30 professionals from the catering sector were compared with the particularity of having or not having undergone retraining. The protocol is based on face-to-face interviews and the use of a mixed methodology (qualitative and quantitative). Results show both with qualitative and quantitative methodology that it is not the same social representation. This illustrates the impact of practices on the meaning given to the object and the impact of the health crisis.

The transportation sector in Nigeria is one of the sectors facing major disruptive innovations, and one of such innovations is ridesourcing. Ridesourcing is a GPS enabled mobile application for e-hailing taxis or tricycles in Nigeria, and it provides a mode choice for individuals to choose from for different types of trips. The introduction of ridesourcing into Nigeria has heighten competition within the transport sector, as drivers who enroll with the ridesourcing companies now compete with yellow cab taxis and other public transport services in Nigeria. The main objective of the study is to explore the determinants and the perception of the students on the usage of ridesourcing services for social/recreational trips in Umuahia Metropolis, Nigeria. The study adopted survey design in data collection and analysis. A structured questionnaire was administered to students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) Abia State, Nigeria. The findings show that the students have positive attitude/perception towards the use of ridesourcing services for social/recreational trips, and the major determinants for the use of ridesourcing services are: cost, shorter waiting time, door-to-door pick up, convenience, and safety. The study recommends an improvement in the waiting time, training to the drivers in map reading and navigating some routes during traffic jam. Besides, the payment system should be properly secured as most young people are avoiding online payment methods in order not to expose their account details to online fraudsters.

The travel and tourism industry is considered one of the growth sectors of the Nigerian economy. As a result, the government is looking to diversify the economy that is currently dependent on crude oil by harnessing the tourism potential in the country. That said, many factors lead to tourism development and destination competitiveness. One such factor is infrastructural development. This study, therefore, focuses on the effect of infrastructural development on destination competitiveness using Nigeria as a case study. The study made use of secondary data from various publications of the World Bank, World Economic Forum and United Nations World Tourism Organisation. Regression analysis was applied to assess the effect of infrastructure on international tourist arrivals, while Pearson Correlation was applied to understand the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. The findings show that various forms of infrastructural development in Nigeria had negative effects on the number of international tourists visiting the country. Visitors expect easy access to destinations either by road, air or sea, as well as information communication technology. When a country lacks infrastructure, it affects the number of visitors arriving in the country negatively. The study concludes that the findings can contribute to the limited literature on destination competitiveness and help to guide policymaking in the future.

The topic of tourism is gaining more and more importance from the scientific point of view, there are now several papers dealing with it, so it seemed appropriate to present an essay on the history of tourism in Sardinia. Therefore, this contribution aims to describe the phenomenon of tourism, its birth and development in the south of the island particularly in the southwest coast, that of Santa Margherita di Pula. The study has been carried out through the analysis of existing literature, trade, custom and society newspapers – which offer a glimpse of life on the Island between 1960 and 1980 – documents preserved in the few historical archives of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, and also through the use of oral sources, used to make up for the dearth of certain sources.

This study was conducted to establish a framework of the determinants of leisure guests’ choice of hotels in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. The study became necessary owing to the fact that there is a dearth of empirical studies that examined the determinants of customer choice of hotels in any of the different segments of the hotel industry in the Nigerian context. Multiple regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses with the aid of SPSS Version 20.0 software at 5% level of significance. The result from a convenience sample of 246 respondents who lodge in hotels in Awka metropolis show that the two factors investigated namely cleanliness and location influence consumer choice of hotels. More importantly, cleanliness has more influence than location. A key recommendation is that the regulator in the hospitality and tourism industry in Nigeria should liaise with health authorities to carry out periodic hygiene inspection on cleanliness and hygiene practices of hoteliers.
