Background: The ability to thrive at work has been demonstrated to be closely linked to the development of nurses.Effective utilization of strengths and maintaining hope are essential elements for clinical nurses' ability to flourish in their roles. Nevertheless, the relationship between strengths use, hope, and thriving at work remains underexplored. This study aimed to identify distinct subgroups of clinical nurses based on their strengths use and to examine the mediating effect of hope between strengths use and thriving at work. The findings are intended to inform clinical managers on strategies to enhance nurses' work performance and care quality.

Methods: A convenience sample of 568 clinical nurses from two tertiary hospitals in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China, was recruited between January and March 2024. The survey collected sociodemographic data and included the Adult Dispositional Hope Scale, Strengths Use Scale, and Thriving at Work Scale. Potential categories of nurse strengths use characteristics were identified using potential profile analysis, and potential relationships between variables were determined using Pearson correlation analysis, Bayesian factor robustness analyses, and Mediation analysis.

Results: LPA identified three distinct groups based on strengths use: low (30.8%), moderate (64.9%), and high (13.2%).The significant mediating effect of hope in the relationship between strengths use based on latent profile analysis and thriving at work was observed (SE = 0.61,95%CI = -10.01, -7.62; SE = 0.76,95%CI = -18.91, -15.91, respectively).

Conclusions: There exists heterogeneity in nurses' strengths use. Hope plays a significant role in mediating the relationship between strengths use and thriving at work. It is recommended that nursing administrators or leaders pay attention to differences in individual levels of strengths use, encourage strengths-based practices and design interventions that foster hope, thereby promoting greater thriving in their professional roles.

Background: Compared to ordinary student in the same age group, nursing students experience notably higher rates of depression and anxiety. Negative life events (NLEs) and resilience were recognized as risk factors and protective factors, respectively. There is little literature on the complex interaction of these factors among nursing students.

Objectives: The study aims to explore the potential relationship of NLEs, resilience, and gender with symptoms of depression and anxiety among nursing students.

Methods: A cross-sectional design was used for this study. A total of 568 participants from three universities in East, South and North China were recruited. Data collection instruments included socio-demographic characteristics, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale, the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, the Adolescent Life Events Self-Rating Scale, and The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. A moderated mediation model was used to analyze the data.

Results: NLEs and resilience significantly related to depression and anxiety (r = -0.289 ~ 0.454, all ps < 0.01). NLEs had a direct effect on depression (B = 0.251, p < 0.001) and anxiety (B = 0.307, p < 0.001). Analysis of mediating effects revealed that NLEs influenced depression (B = 0.02, 95% CI : 0.004-0.041) and anxiety (B = 0.019, 95% CI : 0.004-0.040) through resilience pathways. Additionally, gender was found to have a moderating effect on the direct association of NLEs with anxiety (B = -0.031, p < 0.05), with males showing a greater association.

Conclusions: The findings suggest that improving resilience may help break the relationship of NLEs with depression and anxiety in nursing students. Additionally, the mental health of male nursing students needs more attention.

Background: Existing research indicates that fear of progression influences the quality of life of patients with various diseases. However, the influence of fear of progression on the quality of life of patients with heart failure and its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study aimed to identify the link between fear of progression and quality of life in patients with heart failure and explore the multiple mediating roles of psychological distress and resilience in this association.

Methods: This multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted between March and December 2023 across four tertiary hospitals in China. Data on fear of progression, psychological distress (anxiety and depression), resilience, and quality of life were collected. The PROCESS macro in SPSS was used to analyze the multiple mediation model.

Results: The study involved 277 patients. The total indirect effect of fear of progression on quality of life was significant. Fear of progression influenced physical quality of life through two pathways: (i) resilience independently, and (ii) psychological distress-depression and resilience serially. Additionally, fear of progression influenced mental quality of life through three pathways: (i) psychological distress (anxiety and depression) independently, (ii) resilience independently, and (iii) psychological distress (anxiety and depression) and resilience serially. However, psychological distress-anxiety or resilience had no mediating effect on the relationship between fear of progression and physical quality of life in patients with heart failure.

Conclusions: Fear of progression had a negative association with quality of life in patients with heart failure. In addition, the relationship between fear of progression and quality of life was mediated by psychological distress and resilience. Interventions targeting the reduction of psychological distress and enhancement of resilience may mitigate the impact of fear of progression on quality of life in patients with heart failure.

Background: The incidence of acute cardiac arrest is increasing and is directly linked to patient survival, highlighting the critical role of nurses. Advanced nursing skills for cardiac arrest patients, such as self-directed pre-learning applied to various clinical situations, require a systematic blended learning approach to integrate knowledge and enhance clinical performance through face-to-face practice. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a blended simulation education program for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) using the PARTNER model.

Methods: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design with a time-lagged approach was used to collect data from 34 third-year nursing students. The experimental group(n = 17) received a 480-minute blended simulation education program based on the PARTNER model and flipped learning, while the control group(n = 17) participated in a 480-minute traditional simulation education program.

Results: The study found that knowledge, confidence, performance in advanced cardiac life support, and clinical performance ability were effectively enhanced, although no significant effect was observed in learning satisfaction.

Conclusions: The program provides a new direction in applying blended simulation using the PARTNER model for advanced cardiac life support nursing education, ultimately contributing to the training of nurses competent in advanced cardiac life support.

Background: Nursing students represent a unique group that faces specific stressors. One of these stressors is social appearance anxiety, which can adversely affect the quality of life. Personality traits are strong predictors of coping with stress and anxiety. This study explored the relationship between personality traits, social appearance anxiety, and quality of life among nursing students.

Methods: The study employed a correlational descriptive cross-sectional research design. One thousand twenty-one students from the bachelor program's first, second, third, and fourth years participated in the study. The data was collected over three months from June to August 2024 by using four tools: the student's academic and socio-demographic profile, Novo Psych Five Factor Personality Scale (NFFPS-30), Social anxiety about appearance Scale (SAAS)., and The WHO Quality of Life Scale-Brief (WHOQOL-Brief).

Results: The personality trait with the highest mean score is agreeableness (21.0 ±2.8), while neuroticism has the lowest mean score (18.4 ±4.3). (SAAS) results show that the majority of students (79.5%) experience low social anxiety levels. Additionally, (WHOQOL-Brief), general health, and social domains had the highest mean scores (58.2 and 53.2), compared to the physical domain, which scored the lowest at (40.6).

Conclusion: The study concluded that all personality traits correlate significantly negatively with SAAS except neuroticism. QOL was positively correlated with all personality traits except neuroticism. SAAS and neuroticism traits of personality are strong negative predictors of QOL. Further research and interventional programs are necessary to detect students' level of anxiety and their personality traits and improve their social appearance anxiety.

Introduction: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into healthcare, particularly through predictive analytics that can enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Nursing leaders play a crucial role in the successful adoption of these technologies.

Aim: This study aims to assess the readiness of nursing leaders for AI integration and evaluate their perceptions of the benefits of AI-driven predictive analytics in healthcare.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 187 nurse leaders across nine private hospitals in Cairo. The sample was selected using a combination of simple random sampling and non-probability convenience sampling methods to ensure a diverse representation of nursing leadership. Data collection took place from March to May 2024, utilizing a structured questionnaire specifically designed to assess nurse leaders' readiness for AI integration and their perceptions of AI-driven predictive analytics The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics, version 26.0. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was employed to identify underlying factors related to readiness and perceived benefits. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was subsequently performed to validate the factor structure. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to identify significant predictors of AI readiness and perceived benefits.

Results: The study revealed that over one-third of nurse leaders exhibited high readiness for AI integration. Significant predictors of readiness included age, educational attainment, and employment status. Positive correlations were found between readiness and perceived benefits of AI, particularly in areas such as care planning and decision-making.

Conclusion: The findings suggest that nursing leaders are generally prepared to integrate AI into their workflows, especially those with advanced education and experience. However, further training and policy development are necessary to fully realize the benefits of AI in nursing practice.

Background: Nurses have been at the forefront of the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, facing extended work hours and heightened stress, predisposing them to psychological distress. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and correlates of severe anxiety among frontline nurses in China during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: A large-scale multi-center survey was conducted from November to December 2022 and from April to July 2023. Data were collected using online surveys, covering demographic characteristics, job-related factors, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders. Statistical analyses, including chi-square tests, t-tests, and logistic regression, were performed to assess the incidence and factors influencing severe anxiety.

Results: The study included 816 nurses during the pandemic and 763 nurses after the pandemic. The prevalence of severe anxiety during the pandemic (52.3%) was significantly higher than after the pandemic (8.0%). Factors such as nursing title, night shift frequency, educational level, exercise frequency, COVID-19 infection status, economic pressure, and work pressure showed significant differences between the two periods. Binary logistic regression revealed associations between severe anxiety and factors such as night shift frequency, COVID-19 infection status, nursing title, depression, and sleep disorders. Receiver Operating Characteristic analysis demonstrated good predictive value for severe anxiety.

Conclusion: The study underscores the importance of understanding and addressing severe anxiety among frontline nurses during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Future research should delve into long-term psychological effects and implement effective intervention measures to support nurses' mental health.
