The purpose of this research is to know whether using picture series is effective in teaching writing recount text. The writer conducted the study at the tenth years students of SMA Negeri 1 Remboken at the 2022/2023 year of academic. The research design used was an experimental design with a quantitative approach, Pre-test, treatment, and post-test procedures were used in this pre-experimental study. A test (pre-test and post-test) with a writing exercise connected to retelling about a holiday was the instrument utilized in this study. The participants in this study were the students of SMA Negeri 1 Remboken. 28 students from class X A served as the research samples. The findings results show that The pre-test mean score was 63.21, and the post-test mean score was 92.75. The mean score on the post-test was higher than it was on the pre-test. The results of the investigation showed that the difference between the 14.500 in Tcount and the 2.052 in Ttable was significant at 5%. This outcome served as proof that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Therefore, using image series significantly improved the tenth-year students' recount narrative writing at SMA Negeri 1 Remboken.

In Indonesia, English is considered the first foreign language taught from high school to university. Vocabulary is very important to students, which is why researchers want to know about techniques that can be used to increase students' vocabulary. This study deals with vocabulary teaching techniques and aims to find out if using Liveworksheets can improve English vocabulary of 7th grade students at SMP Negri 5 Tondano school. This study is a quantitative study through pre-experimental design with group pre-test and post-test design with 11 students. The results of this study indicate that students' English vocabulary increased significantly after using Liveworksheets in vocabulary lessons. This is evidenced by the average score of the test before and after the test, i.e., 3.54 before the test and 8.0 after the test. This means that Liveworksheets are effective in increasing the English vocabulary of students from grade VII to SMP Negeri 5 Tondano. Live spreadsheets are easy to use, can be viewed for free via the web, used anytime, anywhere, have the effect of motivating students to learn and are a new teaching method. Use a laptop or smartphone to access Liveworksheets. And new learning techniques can focus students' attention on learning.

This research’s purposes is to analyze the language style that is used by Adele in her Instagram’s captions that is based on Joos’ theory of language style. The data was taken by the researcher from Adele’s Instagram’s captions that she had posted from July 2020-2022. This research was done qualitatively using Miles & Huberman’s data analysis technique. The result of this research shows that Adele’s most dominant language style is casual language style. As the researcher found that, from 50 captions that she posted along the 2 year, she was mostly using casual language style with 29 captions, followed by 12 formal language style, 8 intimate language style and 1 consultative language style, while she never used frozen language style in her captions. From those data then the researcher pulled out a conclusion that Adele’s most dominant language style in her Instagram’s captions is casual language style.

This research aims to describe the meaning of Hoho singing phrases associated with the traditional death ceremony of the South Nias community through Peirce's semiotic approach. A qualitative approach with a focus on musicology was used as the research method. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results revealed that the Hoho is performed by a minimum of 5 people in the group presenting the text, with a leader from the si'ulu or si'ila group called sondroro or Hoho Participant. The Hoho is also responded to in turn by several small groups of two to four text presenters known as sanoyohi or Speakers. All Hoho presenters are male. Textual analysis of the meaning and message of the Hoho shows that Lawaendröna is looking for a way out of the threat of death. He considers various possibilities, including going to the moon, but eventually realizes that humans cannot escape death. In essence, the Hoho depicts the human life cycle and philosophical questions about death and eternity.

A popular theory in neuroscience, brain dominance, has influenced on education since studying of human brain plays important role to improve quality of teaching and learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to find out the significant correlation between brain hemispheric dominance and reading skill of IELTS, and to identify the significant difference among students at the same level who have different categories of brain dominance in reading skill of IELTS. Students’ score in reading of IELTS and categories of brain dominance in the basis of personal traits and cognitive styles from 114 students of three different universities at the context of EFL were correlated and analyzed in Pearson Chi-Square, Kruskall –Wallis, and Mann-Whitney. The findings show that there is significant correlation between two variables. Different categories of brain dominance influence on students’ reading skill of IELTS. Findings of this study support what the theorists of brain dominance claim that individuals who have different brain dominance tend to be different in doing specific tasks.

This study aims to describe the use of Project Based Learning (PjBL) in teaching Kolintang music at the junior high school level, with a focus on SMP Negeri 4 Tondano. Qualitative approach and musicological study were used by the researcher in this study, with data collection techniques through observations, interviews, and written notes. The results showed that cultural arts teachers at SMP Negeri 4 consistently apply learning models to improve students' academic achievement. Learning is conducted in three stages: preparation, core activities, and closing. In teaching Kolintang music, teachers use a project-based learning model with the following steps: 1) setting important questions; 2) planning project action steps; 3) making plans; 4) conducting evaluations; and 5) reflecting on past events. Students are guided towards higher order thinking through the Project Based Learning approach, and they are able to create 21st century learning products with positive results.
