Igarapé Diabinho, situated in the central region of the state of Acre, is a tributary on the right bank of the Envira river, belonging to the Juruá river basin. Its U-shaped grooved channel is carved in sediments known as the Solimões Formation, of Late Miocene–Pleistocene age. The rocky exposures along Diabinho stream demonstrate a succession of massive silt-clay sediments, covered by other compact sandy silts cemented by carbonates. These sediments are partly overlain by alluvial (fluvial-lacustrine) sediments from the Quaternary, in the region where this stream dominates. For the study, samples collected in three profiles along a ravine on the right bank of Igarapé Diabinho were investigated, in an area used for picnics during the dry season, that is, with slight human disturbance. To assist in identifying the probable source areas of these sediments, and determine their weathering and transport conditions, granulometric analyzes were carried out, investigating the mineralogical composition of the sediments, their heavy minerals, and the mineralogy of the sediments’ clay fraction. The sediments are predominantly silts with little clay, being composed of quartz, feldspars (albite and microcline), clay minerals (smectite, illite, and kaolinite), muscovite, and chlorite. As a result, the sediments were deposited in mild paleoclimatic conditions under weak chemical weathering, indicated by the predominance of unstable minerals, such as amphiboles, feldspars, biotite, epidote, garnet, apatite, and titanite. The dominant presence of aluminosilicates (kyanite, andalusite, sillimanite, garnet, and micas) and epidote indicates that these sediments had as their primary source metamorphosed pelitic rocks. A second assemblage composed of tourmaline, zircon, apatite, titanite, and even ilmenite points to possible contributions from basic and intermediate igneous rocks that are currently observed in Serra do Divisor on the borders of Brazil and Peru. In conclusion, these findings contribute to implications in the paleoenvironmental context by providing insights into the probable source areas of the sediments, determining the weathering and transport conditions, and identifying the mineralogy of the sediments.

Among the several roles played by gold since the most ancient civilizations until today, the most incoherent is for sealing the matrimony. Whoever had this shiny idea certainly considered only the beauty and value of this mineral. If they had measured the other gold properties, would have chosen another mineral to symbolize the instability, complexity and deepness of marriage. If the objective was to elevate marriage to gold standard, it would be necessary to reproduce other gold properties such as high resistance, chemical inertness and durability and, in addition, the malleability and ductility of gold, which are so necessary for the relationship to be lasting. The marriage is a kind of alchemy becoming increasingly rare nowadays and the relationships are in a general way only lead and other common metals.

The teaching of Paleontology is of great importance in the training of students, supporting the understanding of various science contents. For this reason, its implementation from Elementary School is essential as it provokes curiosity in students. Despite this, themes in this field of knowledge are treated in a fragmented manner in school spaces, so many difficulties are encountered, whether in the structure, the lack of teaching resources, the limitations of support instruments, such as textbooks, or even due to negligence of the official documents that guide fundamental education in Brazil, which often do not deal with the subject with due importance. Given this context, we set out as a general objective to present methodological proposals for the teaching of Paleontology based on the elaboration of a catalogue that brings together scripts of practical activities, which require little infrastructure, and uses simple, low-cost materials that can contribute to the teaching-learning process of Paleontology in Elementary School. The preparation of the catalogue followed three stages: 1) Collection of reference data (bibliographic and teaching materials); 2) Selection and ordering of the thematic activities found, always focusing on the low cost of the materials used and the ease of carrying them out in the school environment); 3) Structural reorganization of the selected activities, considering our pedagogical understanding, to compose the catalogue. Thus, and in line with the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), the activities were organized into three groups: a) research/production of materials; b) didactic game; c) information and communication technologies. The Practical Activities Guide Catalog aims to bring students and teachers at Elementary School Science and Paleontology together, serving as an instrument to assist in the teaching-learning process.

There were years of interruption of oil extraction activity by the state-owned Petrobrás in the Fazenda Belém onshore oil field. After the purchase by the company 3R Petroleum, the equipment started moving again and aroused euphoria among passers-by on the BR-304. In this work, some setbacks will be presented throughout the history of oil activity in Brazil and what led to the sale of Polo Fazenda Belém to the private sector.
