Sixty brachiopod species are reported from the Taboumakhlouf Formation (upper Eifelian) and the Bou Dib Formation (upper Eifelian to Givetian) of Jbel Issoumour, northern Maïder, Anti-Atlas, Morocco, on the basis of collections made by Volker Ebbighausen. The stratigraphy is based on reports of co-occurring trilobite assemblages. The relatively diversified fauna pre-dates the Taghanic event and is dominated in terms of diversity by atrypides and rhynchonellides (11 species each); other frequent species include Poloniproductus varians, Aulacella prisca, Tyersella tetragona, Schizophoria schnuri, Athyris ex gr. concentrica, Yeothyris? sinuata, and Thomasaria simplex. Spinatrypa ennigaldinannae Halamski and Baliński sp. nov. from the upper Eifelian is characterised by a transverse shell, typically 16– 18 mm wide with 19 –22 ribs. Prodavidsonia ebbigahuseni Halamski and Baliński sp. nov. differs from other representatives of the genus in having nearly flat shells. Eressella coronata Halamski and Baliński, nom. nov. is proposed as a replacement name for the permanently invalid Rhynchonella coronata Kayser, 1871 (non R. coronata Moore, 1861). Thomasaria simplex is documented as being a particularly variable species (costation, tongue, interarea position), so its broad taxonomic treatment is favoured. The brachiopod fauna shows distinct Rhenish affinities (numerous species in common with the Eifel and the Holy Cross Mountains) like the coeval fauna from southern Maïder, described previously. The Middle Devonian brachiopod fauna from the whole Maïder (north, described here and south, described previously) totals 87 species.
Prodavidsonia ebbigahuseni Halamski和Baliński sp. 11 . Eressella coronata Halamski和Baliński, nom11 .

: Barnacle borings were found in six heterocoral skeletons. They are present as small (up to 2.9 mm long), slender, pouch-shaped borings with tapering, slit-like openings. The investigated borings were made by acrothoracican cirripedes, which mostly do not have a shell and bore into hard substrates to protect their “naked” bodies. The first occurrence of borings in skeletons of the heterocoral Oligophylloides Różkowska, 1969 from the Upper Devonian Tafilalt Platform was reported recently by Weyer in 2016. Here, the authors present the results of a detailed study of heterocoral remains with numerous acrothoracican borings from Jebel Bou Ifarherioun (Famennian, Anti-Atlas, Morocco). The borings were found on the basal part but also on broken branches and stems of the heterocoral corallum and occurred post mortem . There is no indication of a syn vivo coral-barnacle interaction with borings in tissue-covered areas. The authors used micro-CT scans to visualize the 3D morphology of the pits, their orientation, and distribution. Additionally, the 3D morphology of an assemblage of 75 pits was used to carry out ordination and cluster analyses, which showed that previously proposed ichnospecies may be a continuum of morphological variability. In the basis of measurements by the present authors, the studied borings do not fit any known ichnotaxa. The absence of bourrelets excludes the possibility that the borings studied belong to the ichnogenus Rogerella Saint-Seine, 1951. Hence, the results seem to contradict a synonymization that was proposed by Bromley and D’Alessandro (1987) and subsequent authors and leave room for further research and discussion on this topic. Although the inferred boring organism is a filter feeder and, thus, depends on currents, the authors did not find a preferential orientation of the borings. The samples considered here are the best-preserved Devonian barnacle borings to date.
在这里,作者介绍了对Jebel Bou Ifarherioun(摩洛哥Anti-Atlas, famenian)的许多顶胸动物的异结肠遗骸进行详细研究的结果。

The occurrence of the fern Matonia braunii (Goeppert) Harris, preserved in the growth position in sandstones of dune origin, is documented from the late Pliensbachian Szydlowiec Sandstone of the Drzewica Formation in the Holy Cross Mountains. This plant formed monotypic stands on coastal dunes during a marine highstand. The presence of this common Early Jurassic fern in such an unfavourable environment attests to the huge ecological plasticity of this species.

An assemblage of 120 mammal remains of Pleistocene age has been collected from the fluvial deposits of river Raba at a gravel pit in the village of Targowisko, 30 km east of Krakow, southern Poland. Nearly 100 remains represent woolly mammoth Mammuthus primigenius . Other remains belong to four or five such mammal species as horse Equus ferus , woolly rhinoceros Coelodonta antiquitatis, red deer Cervus elaphus and steppe bison Bison priscus or aurochs Bos primigenius . Pleistocene coarse-grained deposits containing isolated bones, teeth and tusks occur in the lowermost part of the fluvial succession in the open pit, presently inundated by groundwater. The surfaces of the majority of bones and teeth show abrasion damages by fluvial transport, including their rounding and smoothing as well as scratches and grooves. Traces of carnivore activity are visible on mammoth and horse bones. The location, dimension and shape of these marks suggest wolf or cave hyena gnawing.

Grammepus Hitchcock, 1858: A sedimentary variant of the fossil insect trackway Lithographus Grammepus Hitchcock,1858

The ichnogenus Grammepus, which is inferred to have been made by a winged (pterygote) insect, was differentiated from other ichnotaxa because its largest tracks were nearly continuous, forming two furrows. Otherwise, it strongly resembles the ichnogenus Lithographus. Examination of both ichnogenera indicate that the largest tracks in Lithographus can be very close together, that some specimens of Grammepus lack furrow-like tracks, and that the type specimen of the type species Grammepus erismatus has separate tracks in some places, and furrow-like ones in others. Given the lack of a feature that can consistently differentiate Lithographus and Grammepus , the latter is synonymized with the former. Experiments with the modern cricket Acheta domesticus in sediment of different saturation levels indicate that a single pterygote producer could produce both “Grammepus-” and Lithographus -like morphologies, with the former being formed in wet, soft sediment wherein the legs drag, and the latter being formed in firmer, drier sediment wherein the legs do not drag .

Examination of both ichnogenera indicate that the largest tracks in Lithographus can be very close together, that some specimens of Grammepus lack furrow-like tracks, and that the type specimen of the type species Grammepus erismatus has separate tracks in some places, and furrow-like ones in others. Given the lack of a feature that can consistently differentiate Lithographus and Grammepus , the latter is synonymized with the former. Experiments with the modern cricket Acheta domesticus in sediment of different saturation levels indicate that a single pterygote producer could produce both “Grammepus-” and Lithographus -like morphologies, with the former being formed in wet, soft sediment wherein the legs drag, and the latter being formed in firmer, drier sediment wherein the legs do not drag .","PeriodicalId":50776,"journal":{"name":"Annales Societatis Geologorum Poloniae","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49288541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"地球科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
