Evapotranspiration is the loss of water from the surface of the soil and plants by combining evaporation with transpiration with any type of vegetation and under any moisture condition to the atmosphere. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the methods of determination of the reference evapotranspiration (HargreavesSamani and Penman-Monteith with only the maximum and minimum temperature of the air), which is of great importance in the hydrological processes and irrigation management. (FAO 56), using different statistical indices for the locations of Cassilândia, Chapadão do Sul, Coxim and São Gabriel do Oeste located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. A set of daily data of 2 years (2015 and 2016) of maximum and minimum temperatures, wind speed, solar radiation and relative humidity. The comparison was performed using the coefficient of determination, the Willmott concordance index and the errors associated with each methodology, where it was concluded that the calculation of the ETo by the Penman-Monteith method in the absence of data, was shown as an alternative for the ETo calculation, since it presented the lowest values of VM and EAM.
