Some renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) may present with a paraneoplastic syndrome, which is a manifestation of a tumour that does not derive directly from the tumour or its metastases.
Occasionally it is the initial finding or occurs simultaneously, and can confuse us if we do not know how to interpret it. Stauffer's syndrome is a non-metastatic liver dysfunction mainly associated with this neoplasm, and is considered a poor prognosis factor1.

Twenty-seven family doctors (66.60% women and 33.3% men) assigned to a Social Security Health Institution of Quintana Roo, México.
This study starts from the qualitative approach, under the interpretive paradigm of symbolic interactionism with the grounded theory method and through the in-depth interview technique. The interviews were recorded and transcribed and the data analysis was carried out with the Atlas ti program, using open and axial coding.
The findings reveal that family doctors are aware of and have been in situations that are linked to an unnecessary practice, even without classifying it from the perspective of quaternary prevention.
A new need of greater dissemination and training on the elements that make it up to develop a professional practice oriented towards the premise “first do not harm” is reinforced.
Laugier-Hunziker syndrome (LHS) is a rare benign disorder, often acquired in adulthood, characterized by lentiginous hyperpigmentation of the oral mucosa and lips, associated with longitudinal melanonychia. Its importance is based on the early recognition and differential diagnosis of various oral and cutaneous hyperpigmentation pathologies. The case of a 74-year-old man with probable SLH is presented below and important differential diagnoses are discussed.
