Thermal Cycling Effect in a Traction Inverter for Star-connected and Open-end Winding Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors with Nearly Constant Losses Current Regulation 星接开端绕组近恒损恒流永磁同步电动机牵引逆变器的热循环效应

One of the causes of faults in the electric drive is the failure of the power semiconductor module. Semiconductors degrade under the effect of thermal cycles. Thermal aging of materials occurs due to temperature difference between the elements of the power module as well as difference of their thermal expansion coefficients, which eventually leads to the destruction of the power module construction. The influence of thermal cycles is most expressed in traction drives, which are characterized by modes with low speeds and variation of commanded torque in time. This article considers a BMW i3 electric drive model and an open-end winding drive with Nearly Constant Losses Current Regulation for evaluating thermal cycles in a power module. The new European driving cycle was used as a test cycle for both drives. It is shown how the proposed algorithm makes it possible to reduce the thermocycling effects in semiconductor devices.

The analysis of the magnetic saturation and core losses effects influence on a field-oriented controlled induction motor current and torque control quality is given. The magnetization circuit active resistance makes it possible to take core losses into account in induction motor electromagnetic processes equations. The rotor flux linkage vector magnitude and rotation angle estimation unit synthesis based on the rotor circuit equations is made considering core losses. The mutual inductance and the core losses circuit resistance estimating technique in a no-load motor mode are presented.

Dynamic Stability Analysis of Robots on Spherical Base with Variable Load Mass 变载荷质量球形基座机器人的动态稳定性分析

Article explores the possibility of maintaining the equilibrium stability of the ball balancing robot (also known as a BallBot) with forced and free movement. This type of robots is initially unstable; therefore, it is necessary to create a control system that provides resistance to external influences. That requires to include into the analysis parameters of load's moment of inertia and rotational torque of the sphere base. A mathematical model of the sphere-based robot system was developed based on the augmented model of the inverse pendulum. A linear state controller with an internal model of free movement of the object has been obtained. Verification of the developed control system is performed using simulation in MATLAB / Simulink. The initial results of the study, including balancing in place and moving along the trajectory, are presented.

Equalization of Losses in a Multilevel Frequency Converter in Fault Condition 故障状态下多电平变频器的损耗均衡

The cascaded multilevel frequency converter is one of the most used topologies of medium voltage drives. One of the main advantages of the topology is the ability to decommission any failed cell without interrupting the operation of the drive. The PWM technique with walking cell adapts to a different number of cells in the phase. However, in case of cell failure, the switching losses of each cell in the phase grow with respect to other healthy phases. This paper considers the strategy for equalization of switching losses of all cells of the frequency converter in faulty conduction. The proposed strategy was verified using a model in Matlab Simulink and losses were estimated in PSIM.

Adjusting the Phase Switching-on Positions of the Traction Switched Reluctance Motor in the Low Speed Range 牵引开关磁阻电动机低速分相位置的调整

The paper evaluates the best-known approaches to adjusting the phase switching position of a traction switched reluctance motor (SRM) in order to reduce the current consumed from the power supply to provide a given value of average torque in the low-speed zone. Two fundamentally different variants of solving this problem were identified - offline and on-line optimization. Off-line optimization requires a considerable amount of preliminary work, and the results obtained are applicable only to a specific motor type or similar. Known analytical dependencies for application in on-line optimization are either inaccurate or cumbersome and inconvenient for practical use. The algorithm proposed by the authors is based on the known idea of automatic on-line control over the first peak of phase current and moving it by control means to the angular position of the beginning of overlapping of stator and rotor poles. The algorithm recommended by the authors in the implementation requires minimal computing resources of the software part of the control system because it includes only the simplest calculations. Modeling in MATLAB-SIMULINK environment showed that under various perturbations, the transition of the SRM phase inclusion position control system to a new steady state is completed in no more than three cycles of motor switching.

Initial Design Estimation of Synchronous Machines 同步电机的初始设计评估

The paper presents the basic calculations,guidelines and procedures to determine the initial design parameters of a synchronous machine. This study aims to seek the adaptability of previously established design procedures for the continuously evolving design freedoms offered by additive manufacturing. An algorithm to implement this procedure has also been presented wherein necessary freedoms can be introduced to choose a specific parameter to be optimized with the associated optimization criterion. This paper also discusses the possible approaches for basic calculations of synchronous reluctance machines. The choice of a specific machine type influences various variables and procedures individually. Wherever applicable, the model can be further modified corresponding to the machine type.
