We demonstrated 10.7 Gb/s REAM-SOA using simplified fabrication process. Good performance at 10.7 Gb/s was obtained with an extinction ratio of > 9 dB and a power penalty of < 1 dB up to 20 km transmission over a 40 nm spectral range.

Despite twenty years of research, optical packet switching (OPS) struggles to find practical application. We analyze the capabilities and limitations of OPS, and conclude that OPS offers little compared with conventional electronic packet switching.

We report the first experimental demonstration of space-division-multiplexed DWDM transmission of PDM-QPSK channels over a multicore fiber. A total capacity of 56-Tb/s (7×80×107-Gb/s) is transmitted over a 76.8-km seven-core-fiber with a record spectral-efficiency of 14-b/s/Hz.

We demonstrate one-to-eleven NRZ-to-RZ format conversion and wavelength multicasting using one pump in a highly-nonlinear-fiber based on various nonlinear processes including XPM, XGM and FWM. Eleven channels (11×10-Gb/s) are error-free (10−9 BER) with 0.8-nm spacing.

We experimentally investigate the impact of crosstalk on the performance of MB-OFDM UWB signal transmission in RoF WDM system. It is found that OFDM signal's orthogonalities are almost kept after 20 km of fiber transmission even under adjacent channel crosstalk level of −5 dB. MB-OFDM UWB over fiber is robust to crosstalk from other channels.
