Smith), has been known to attack a wide variety of agricultural crops. After seeing field evidence that the armyworm was not a threat to some crops, Volp et al. sought to clarify which crops truly served as preferred host plants. Their research on oviposition behavior, neonate silking behavior, and larval performance revealed that maize was the armyworm’s preferred crop, while pigeon pea and cotton were the least preferred.
