We report the case ofa 61 years old woman with multiple pathologies: HTA, diabetes, relapsing polychondritis, hypercholesterolemia, iatrogenic Cushing, cardiopathy, cystic fibrosis, etc. She began, an increment of TA (220/130 mm Hg) or hypertensive crisis, with a sudden left cervical hematoma located on the carotid bifurcation according to CT imaging. We oractice an arteriography that was informed as normal and the patient was admitted and controlled of an ORL as Vascular Surgeon. The bleeding stop spontaneously we treat the patient conservativity.

Adeno-tonsillectomy is the most frequent surgical intervention of de the head and neck in paediatrics in the industrialised countries and one of the most common operations in Mayor Day Case Surgery; although is not void of risks which can be fatal. Complications can be surgical or anaesthetics in nature, one of the most serious complications being postoperative bleed. Among risk factors we can highlight: age younger then three, female gender, duration of surgery, incomplete haemostasis, coagulophaties. These could be related to delayed oral intake. Postoperative bleed could not related to technique or haemostasis applied. We carry out a revision of this subject.

We report the clinic and microbiological findings that were obtained in 10 adult patients admitted by our ENT Service with diagnosis of suppurative bacterial acute parotitis. S. aureus and Streptococcus sp were the most isolated organisms. All the patients were treated by hidratation, endovenous antibiotic therapy sometimes modified according to the antibiogram results, analgesics and antiinflammatories with success. In 3 times it was necessary to drain the purulent collection and in one of them there was a retroauricular abscess secondary to sialoadenitis.

Prader-Willi syndrome was described for the first time in 1956. Due to its lack of biological markers its diagnosis is a clinical one, taking into consideration that it varies with age. It is characterised by neonatal hypotonia, obesity, mild mental retardation or learning incapacity, behavioural problems, mainly towards food. Most aspects studied have been centred in medical and genetic aspects, whereas those related to hearing and language have been somewhat limited. We carry out a revision of those aspects.

In the reaction of immediate hypersensibility to alergene is joined to its specific type IgE antibody, also united to the high affinity receptors for IgE (FccI) of the effecters cells fundamentally mastocites and basophiles. The interbreeding of these molecules Fcc to RI, after the union ofpolyvalent antigenes to IgE, active these cells, producing three biologic responses: excitosis of the preformed content of its granules, synthesization of lipidic mediators and citoquine secretion. The inflammation mediators are in last term, substances responsible of the clinic symptomatology. They can be divided generally in preformed mediators (biogene amines and macromolecules of the granules) and of new synthese mediators (lipidic and citoquine mediators).

Crocodile tears or Bogorad Syndrome describes a complication or sequel after facial palsy with incomplete recovery characterized by an excessive hyperlacrimation during the food ingestion. We report the case of a 50 years old female with that pathology associated to facial syncinesias secondary to suffer a right Ramsay-Hunt syndrome. Its pathogenesis and different treatment modalities are analysed.

The aim of this work is to do a review on relations between the eosinophils and nasosinusal polyps. The etiopathogenical action of eosinophils are reviewed, from bone narrow to nasal mucosa infiltration. The mechanism of tissue eosinophilic mediated inflammation, his regulation and the significance of the balance between positive (IL-5) and negative (TGFbeta and IL10) mediators are discussed. We conclude that the degree of eosinophilic infiltration and degranulation's patterns are important aspects conditioning the severity and prognosis of chronic rhinosinusitis and nasosinusal polyps.

Laryngeal or hypopharyngeal localization of adenoid cystic carcinoma is rare due to the poor distribution of the accesory salivary glands in this area. We report one case of such neoplasm on that area, with its diagnosis confirmed histologically. The required a total laryngectomy with later reoperations because of hemorrhage and pharyngeal fistula. One year after the surgery and in spite of postoperative radiotherapy multiple pulmonary metastasis were detected causing the death of the patient. We review the literature of this tumor whose prognosis is much worse than epidermoid or scamous carcinoma.

Lipomatous tumors represent an unfrequent cause for upper aerodigestive tract neoplasms, specially concerning the palatine tonsils, that should be included in their differential diagnosis. A case of palatine tonsil lipoma in a 11 year-old girl is reported and a revision of the available literature and some considerations about this condition are provided.
