Adult trematodes Paralecithodendrium chilostomum (Mehlis, 1831) were detected inthe roundleaf bat Hipposideros sp. and in the African sharptooth catfish Clarias gariepinusfrom Tana Lake, Ethiopia. The catfish is an accidental host for P. chilostomum. This isthe first record of P. chilostomum from Ethiopia. The description and figures of P. chilostomumfrom both host species, Hipposideros sp. and Clarias gariepinus are given.

[REPRODUCTION OF SCHISTOSOMA MANSONI MOTHER SPOROCYST]. [曼氏血吸虫母孢子囊的繁殖]。

The development of generative elements of Schistosoma mansoni mother sporocysts(MS) was examined by histological methods. About 20 large cells, on average, determinedas germinal cells (GC) were found in the miracidium. These cells formed a C-shape cellularaggregation (a band) beginning in the caudal part of the larva, and reaching the nerveganglion in the anterior part. At the level of the 3d tier of epithelial plates of the miracidium,this band shifted to the external body wall, bypassing the zone of excretory channels.Apparently, this shift resulted in the subdivision of a single pool of GC into two structurallyassociated groups. A group of several undifferentiated cells (UC) was also revealed inthe caudal part of the body.After the metamorphosis of the miracidium into sporocysts, GC had increased in sizeand on the 3d day started to divide, forming first embryos of daughter sporocysts. Duringthe same time, germinal masses were being formed in the subtegumental area of the MSbody. Since this time point, proliferation of UC occured only in germinal masses. A part ofUC also differentiated there into GC. These cells formed sporocystoid embryos, developingas far as the germinal ball, and then came out into the sporocyst schizocoel (approximatelyin 10 days p. i.). Thus, in S. mansoni, the formation of generative elements into MSoccurs in two stages. Primary GC are formed during the development of the miracidiuminto the egg, whereas secondary GC develop in germinal masses of the sporocyst.

Endotransformations and aberrations of the life cycle in the evolutionary history of trypanosomatids(Kinetoplastea: Trypanosomatidae) are analyzed. We treat the term "endotransformations" as evolutionarily fixed changes of phases and/or developmental stages ofparasites. By contrast, we treat aberrations as evolutionary unstable, periodically arisingdeformations of developmental phases of trypanosomatids, never leading to life cyclechanges. Various examples of life cycle endotransformations and aberrations in representativesof the family Trypanosomatidae are discussed.

Samples of Zooplankton collected in waters of the Prostor Gulf (Iturup Island) wereexamined. Metacercariae of Brachyphallus crenatus were found in copepods Pseudocalanusnewmani and Acartia longiremis. This is the first record of the second intermediatehosts of this species in the North Pacific.

The data on the black fly fauna of the tribe Simuliini (Diptera: Simuliidae) of the SakhaRepublic (Yakutia) comprising available literature, collections of the Zoological InstituteRAS, and new material collected in Yakutia were analyzed. Three new species wererecorded in the fauna of the Sakha Republic: Archesimulium polare Rubzov, 1940,A. splendidum Rubzov, 1940, and A. tumulosum Rubzov, 1956. Distribution of elevenblack fly species was clarified. Processing of the collected material confirmed the presenceof 9 black fly species previously known from Yakutia. On the whole, the fauna of the regioncomprises 27 black fly species.

The article provides a list of 30 species of the family Tabanidae, recorded in BelgorodProvince. Forest and forest-steppe species dominate (60 %), being found at edges of oakforests, deciduous and mixed forests, and in mesophytic meadows. These species are distributedover the entire area of the region. The fraction of taiga-forest species in the regionis small (10 %). These species are found in western and northern areas where large forestsand sphagnum bogs are present. The fraction of steppe species constitutes 13.3 %, thesespecies are found mainly in eastern and south-eastern parts of the Province, where areas ofsteppe and cretaceous outcrops are found. Desert species (6.7 %) and a single Mediterraneancoastal species were also recorded in the region. Mass emergence of horseflies inBelgorod Province begins in June and lasts until mid-August.

In Southern Yakutia, the common minnow hosts 37 species of parasites, including the most numerous groups, such as Infusoria, Myxozoa, and Monogenea. Specific parasites include Myxobolus lomi, Myxobolus mongolicus, Epistylus phoxini, Apiosoma phoxini, Trichodina mira, Paratrichodina phoxini, Gyrodactylus laevis, Gyrodactylus limneus, Gyrodactylus macronychus, Gyrodactylus magnificus, and Diplostomum phoxini. The component parasite communities are characterized by high rates of evenness and diversity, but the low level of dominance. They possess different structure in dependence to specific conditions of their formation. Pollution of the Chulman River with heavy metals and organic wastewater resulted in changes of the structure of parasite communities and replacement of dominants. The characters of chronic damages of gills in the minnow caused by M. lomi have been reported, including deformations of gill arches and filaments, destructions of lamellae, and substitution of the lamellae by parasite's plasmodia.

The daily cercarial output of freshwater trematode Plagiorchis multiglandularis from naturally infected snail Lymnaea stagnalis were studied. The snails were collected in the Chany Lake (South of West Siberia). The daily cercarial output from the snail of different size was determined. The average daily cercarial output ranged from 4641 ± 1829 at the snail with shell length 29 mm to 14022 ± 5198 at the snail with shell length 44 mm. The positive correlation between the average daily cercarial output and the shell of snail host was found (p ≤ 0.001). The maximum of P. multiglandularis cercariae release from the snail during daytime, that coincided with period of activity of the second intermediate hosts. Temperature-mediated increase in cercarial output of P. multiglandularis in temperature range 23-24.5 degrees C was found. The cercarial output was inhibited over the temperature optimum.
