Taste sensitivity of 33 healthy subjects and 120 diabetic patients, either suffering from complication or not, was compared. Diabetic patients showed statistically significative reduction of sensitiveness for some tastes in some oral zones. Taste decrease looks to be related more to vascular of diabetes, than to neurologic ones.
The Authors described a case of dentinal dysplasia type I in one patient (7.6 years). The father also presented the same pathology. The AA. presented the histological and ultra-structural observations, with scansion electron microscopy aut they showed the main aspects of these pathology: pulpal root canal obliterated with dysplastiques dentinal masses, globuliform dentin with irregular form of tubuli and rest of organic pulpar tissue with calcified material.
Patients affected by acute leukemia under radiotherapy and chemotherapy, less them 12 years ols were investigated about periodontal health. Patients were in total remission. Clinical and radiological X-Ray exams investigated soft deposits, calculus, intensive gingivitis, periodontal lesions and CPITN index. The Authors concluded that indices of these patients are better than in normal subjects.
The Authors consider the inhibition of acidogenesis in the dental plaque by topical application of fluoride. After an examination of the actions of fluoride on the bacterial component of dental plaque, the Authors come to the conclusion that inhibition of acidogenesis is one of the possible anticaries mechanism of topical fluoride.
