Sexual assault on the adolescent female poses difficult and complicated issues for both the victim and the care providers. The victim's age, developmental stage, coping style, support system, and previous history influence her ability to cope with the immediate and long‐term effects of the rape. Suggestions are given for conducting the initial interview and protocols for the rape counseling team are given. The importance of the victim's support system (family, significant other) and peer group is also discussed.

The sexual health needs of mentally retarded adolescent females are not so different from those of nonhandicapped adolescent females. This article explores the needs of mentally retarded adolescent females and the methods of educating them about their bodies, specifically with regard to menstruation, pelvic and breast examinations, contraception (the Pill versus the IUD), sterilization, and sexually transmitted diseases.

This article reviews the construction, testing, and revision of an instrument for assessing mothers to predict those who will be above average in positive response to labor and delivery. The instrument is the Utah Test Appraising Mothers. The article explains how the instrument is administered and suggests how it may be used to develop a taxonomy of women.
