Based on the data of Microcensus 2016, the paper observes two elements of transnational practices (home visits and migrant remittances) of Hungarian long-term migrants returned from the host country, and shows the explanatory factors of transnational practices. The study compares these data with the transnational practices of long-term migrants residing in the host country at the time of the data collection. So far, we don’t have much information about the transnational practices of Hungarian return migrants, therefore our study is partly a descriptive analysis. Results indicate that a significant proportion of those who had migratory experience and long-term migrants residing in the host country at the time of the data collection visited their home in the last 12 months of their stay abroad, and roughly one third of them supported at least one of their relatives living in Hungary during their stay abroad. Home visits and migrant remittances were the most typical among labor migrants, men, aged over 50, skilled workers, and among those who did not live with family members abroad. Regarding the reverse transfers, students returning from Austria received the highest proportion of financial support from family members living in Hungary during their stay abroad.
