"This paper presents some results from the 1986 Family Life Survey of Korea. This survey was the first that was conducted in Korea with the specific purpose of understanding women's life cycle beyond marriage and fertility....A probability sample of 3,400 households representing the whole country were selected, [including] interviews of ever-married women of ages 15 to 64.... The survey collected information on household composition, with basic characteristics of members of household including health status....marriage history, including how husbands were selected, pregnancy history including the age of children when they first left home and reason for leaving home, contraceptive use, health, and women's employment at different stages of life." "The discrete-time stochastic model presented in this paper pays attention [to] the association between physiological risk factors and [coronary heart disease] morbidity as well as mortality trends. Transition probabilities are modeled as a polychotomous logistic function of risk factors. A series of separate simple logistic regression analyses...are performed as a replacement for estimating polychotomous logistic regression parameters. Data from the Finnish North Karelia Project is used to test the model." (SUMMARY IN KOR)

"The purpose of this study is to find out the trend of sex ratio variation in [the Republic of] Korea. The data...were derived from the government publications including the Population and Housing Census Reports covering the period of 1960-1985 and the Korea Urbanic Year Book, 1985. The major findings of the study are summarized as follows: The average sex ratio in all age groups is 100.17-101.44 from 1960 through 1980. Sex ratio imbalance was most severe in 1960 due to the Korean War." Sex ratios are compared among urban and rural areas and for industrialized and agricultural areas. (SUMMARY IN ENG)
