Migration and population ageing: a case of Poland. 移民与人口老龄化:以波兰为例。

The effect of internal migration on population aging in Poland is assessed, using data for the years 1950-1988. Trends are presented for the country as a whole, by individual voivodship, and for rural regions that have experienced rapid depopulation. The authors conclude that "internal migrations have no direct influence on the population's ageing process, and [are] insignificant. The influence grows in the spatial perspective; it becomes strongest in the case of migrations between urban and rural areas. Its intensity is best revealed in the...depopulation in rural areas."

The author attempts to eliminate the influence of the size of a territorial unit on the results of demographic analysis, using data for Poland as an illustration. She concludes that "the inclusion of weights in statistical analysis allows us to eliminate the impact of the sizes of studied units on the values of counted parameters as well as on the measures of correlation and regression. The existence of a close connection between the results obtained and the sizes of the studied groups within the same population should be always taken into account."

This "article presents the results of projections of the population of Poland by age, sex and marital status till 2050 under different scenarios of fertility, mortality and nuptiality. These results are used for the analysis of future pension expenditures, the number of retirees, the labour force, and the relation between contributions and benefits. Past demographic trends and the development of social security in the post-war period in Poland are discussed as well."

In this model the total cost of health care is a function of the per capita cost of health care by age, sex, and place of residence (urban, rural) and population structure.... The paper includes...the results concerning population 60 years of age and over." Data are from several official health-related surveys carried out in 1989.
