Our work with the good risk aimibulatory patient would not begin to cciLual voturs, but wve have had considerable experience with the poor risk ambulatory patient and the hospitalized ill patient. This experience has led us to appreciate some of xour problems and to attemnpt to help Nyou 'with them. At George Washington Universitx Hospital we offer an anesthesia training prograiim to oral surgeons. A year's training, either associated with the oral sutrgical residency or as a full time anesthesia resident. is offcred. We bcieve that this training in anesthesia is amlple for an oral surgeon to cqus lify him to do coimlpctent anesthesia on the a-nbulatory patient. Our association with Drs. Sterling Mead. Dan Ly-nch. MIark Burton and Terry Mead at the Dental Hospital has given us extensive cxpericnce in the man,agcmient of )oor Irisk patients for ambulatory oral surgery. Duc to the wide scope of this subject. I would like to discuss with y-ou soimie of the problemrs of patients with cardiovascular disease and the managemiient of anesthesia for the ambulatorv patient.
