SAQA: A Self-Adaptive QoS-Aware Scheduling Algorithm for Real-Time Tasks on Heterogeneous Clusters 异构集群实时任务的自适应qos感知调度算法

Nowadays, providing quality of service (QoS) guarantees for some applications such as signal data processing has become a critical issue. In this paper, we propose a novel self-adaptive QoS-aware scheduling algorithm called SAQA that sufficiently considers the adaptability for real-time tasks with QoS demands on heterogeneous clusters. When the system is in heavy load, the SAQA algorithm can degrade the QoS levels of new tasks or tasks waiting in local queues of nodes to guarantee high schedul ability. The minimum QoS level is acceptable for each task. In contrast, when the system is in light load, SAQA can use slack time to adequately improve the QoS of new tasks. We compare SAQA with SAEDF algorithm by simulations. The experimental results indicate that SAQA has admirable adaptability while providing timing and QoS guarantees.

Investigating the Use of Cloudbursts for High-Throughput Medical Image Registration. 研究云爆发在高通量医学图像配准中的应用。

This paper investigates the use of clouds and autonomic cloudbursting to support a medical image registration. The goal is to enable a virtual computational cloud that integrates local computational environments and public cloud services on-the-fly, and support image registration requests from different distributed researcher groups with varied computational requirements and QoS constraints. The virtual cloud essentially implements shared and coordinated task-spaces, which coordinates the scheduling of jobs submitted by a dynamic set of research groups to their local job queues. A policy-driven scheduling agent uses the QoS constraints along with performance history and the state of the resources to determine the appropriate size and mix of the public and private cloud resource that should be allocated to a specific request. The virtual computational cloud and the medical image registration service have been developed using the CometCloud engine and have been deployed on a combination of private clouds at Rutgers University and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Amazon EC2. An experimental evaluation is presented and demonstrates the effectiveness of autonomic cloudbursts and policy-based autonomic scheduling for this application.

These experimen ts have played a crucial role in t he evolu tion of grid technologies in t he las t several year an d no tably in connection with grid infras t ructu re p rojects. The m os t impor tan t p rojects are EGEE (Enabling Grid for E-sciencE) in Europe [2], OSG (Open Science Grid) in t he US [3] and NDGF (Nordic Data Grid Facility) in t he Nordic coun t ries [4].
