A spatiotemporal finite element mesh model of cyclical deforming motion and its application in myocardial motion analysis using phase contrast MR images 周期变形运动的时空有限元网格模型及其在相对比磁共振图像心肌运动分析中的应用

Presents a method for nonrigid cyclic motion analysis using a series of velocity images, acquired for example, from phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging. The method is based on fitting a global spatiotemporal finite element mesh model, which has controllable builtin spatial/temporal smoothing that is determined by the finesse of the initially defined mesh and richness of included Fourier harmonics, to velocity samples of an extended region at all time frames. If desired, the method can further provide a prediction of the analysis reproducibility along with the estimated motion and deformation quantities. Experiments have been conducted to validate the method and verify the reproducibility prediction.

Motion-compensating real-time format converter for video on multimedia displays 用于多媒体显示器上视频的运动补偿实时格式转换器

This paper introduces a high-quality, low-cost video converter for the conversion of interlaced TV signals into progressive display formats of the same or higher frame repetition rate. This conversion is performed by motion compensated filtering which is preceded by motion estimation. The applied motion estimation algorithm operates on blocks sized 4/spl times/4 pixels. For each of these blocks, a candidate vector is chosen out of temporal and spatial predecessors using a displayed field differences error criterion. The optimal candidate is updated by a series of pixel recursive steps. The filter algorithm employs a motion compensating median filter whose shape depends on the motion vector. A fallback mode is implemented to deal with areas for which no accurate motion vectors could be derived. Single-chip integration of the whole format conversion system is feasible.

A Markovian approach to color image restoration based on space filling curves 基于空间填充曲线的彩色图像恢复马尔可夫方法

A method for color image restoration based on the concept of Markov random fields and space-filling curves is presented. This work is a vectorial extension of a scalar deterministic solution for Markov random fields (MRFs). The proposed method represents an efficient alternative to the use of the vectorial deterministic solution for MRFs. The application of the space filling curve transformation allows one to apply the MRF algorithm to a scalar image with N/sup 3/ grey levels (typically N=256). The scalar MRF approach is based on expressing the energy function by means of the Euclidean norm in the vectorial space. This approach implies a high computational load. The new method involves a computational load lower than the vectorial case because the energy function is presented in the scalar space obtained after space filling curve based transformation.

Automated registration of multimodality images by maximization of a region similarity measure 多模态图像自动配准的最大化区域相似度量

This paper presents a robust algorithm for automated registration of images related by rigid-body transformations. This algorithm uses a new region-based similarity metric, which enables accurate registration of images of large contrast differences. Region segmentation required by the metric is accomplished using a multiscale segmentation algorithm, and minimization of this metric is done using the Powell direction set method. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate that the algorithm is effective for aligning images from single or multiple imaging modalities without the use of any fiducial markers.

Gradient methods for superresolution 超分辨率的梯度方法

Conjugate gradient methods for superresolution are shown to accelerate convergence to the solution. The ill-posed nature of superresolution, combined with the fast convergence of the conjugate gradient algorithm, results in oscillatory artifacts or "null objects" which must be dealt with by regularization. We utilize a combination of Tikhonov-Miller regularization and positivity constraints as a means of regularizing the conjugate gradient algorithm.

Rate-distortion optimal contour prediction for a region-based coder 基于区域编码器的率失真最优轮廓预测

In this paper a contour prediction scheme is presented. Its application in a region-based motion compensation algorithm is shown. To achieve optimal performance in a rate-distortion sense the predicted regions are optimized by using a Lagrangian cost function. By using contour prediction the bit rate for motion compensation can be decreased.

Color balance for video conferencing 用于视频会议的色彩平衡

This paper presents a method to color balance images. This method is useful for correcting images in video conferencing, where multiple video sources are displayed and each image has a different "look". The advantages of this approach are that it does not require a color reference object in each image, i.e. no a priori knowledge of the scene is required, that it can be used on the entire image, and that it is simple to implement. Preliminary results show that our approach can successfully correct images to appear more uniform and visually pleasing.

A digital watermark is an invisible mark embedded in a digital image which may be used for copyright protection. This paper proposes that Fourier-Mellin transform-based invariants can be used for digital image watermarking. The embedded marks may be designed to be unaffected by any combination of rotation, scale and translation transformations. The original image is not required for extracting the embedded mark.

A new region growing algorithm has been proposed for computing Euclidean distance maps in a time comparable to widely used chamfer distance transform. We show how this algorithm can be extended to more complex tasks such as the computation of distance maps on anisotropic grids and the generation of a new type of Euclidean skeletons.

Fuzzy system improves the performance of wavelet-based correlation detectors 模糊系统提高了小波相关检测器的性能

A fuzzy system is designed to classify features in the output of a wavelets-based correlation filter used for enhancing clusters of fine, granular microcalcifications-an early sign of cancer-in digitized mammograms. Each local peak in the correlation filter output is represented by a set of five features describing the shape, size and definition of the peak. These features-prominence, steepness, distinctness, compactness, and departure-are used in linguistic rules such as "IF prominence is high AND distinctness is mid-ranged AND steepness is mid-ranged THEN it might be a calcification." A fuzzy rule-based system with eight rules is trained to distinguish between microcalcifications and normal mammogram texture. Compared to wavelet processing alone, the fuzzy detection system produces an improvement of around 10% in true positive fraction when tested on a public domain mammogram database.

Each local peak in the correlation filter output is represented by a set of five features describing the shape, size and definition of the peak. These features-prominence, steepness, distinctness, compactness, and departure-are used in linguistic rules such as \"IF prominence is high AND distinctness is mid-ranged AND steepness is mid-ranged THEN it might be a calcification.\" A fuzzy rule-based system with eight rules is trained to distinguish between microcalcifications and normal mammogram texture.
