The notion of recovery is frequently evoked in healthcare, but it carries with it a number of ambiguities: do we envisage a return to a state that preceded the illness, or a way of composing a new way of living based on the illness? In order to think more precisely about recovery, this paper proposes to take a philosophical look at the notion of norm and to develop its importance through an approach to time, body and world. This analysis will make it possible to clarify the existential aspects involved in health recovery, and to describe the issues at stake in the care relationship in terms of these dimensions of subjective experience.

People in a situation of social and economic vulnerability are at a high risk of being compromised in terms of their health and well-being. The concept of vulnerability seems to be relevant to highlight the challenges linked to inequalities and to find conditions for developing innovative actions responding to different contexts. Based on an interdisciplinary reflection, we explored the different views of vulnerability from health and social disciplines to find existing similarities and divergences. Numerous determinants of vulnerability have been identified in the literature, such as age, gender, health problems, and socioeconomic and environmental factors. We present some issues about individual and collective aspects of vulnerability from a territorial point of view. These situations of vulnerability present significant challenges for professionals and stakeholders in various health and social services sectors, both public and community-based. Taking actions to promote health among vulnerable people requires an understanding of their environment, in order to adjust to their health conditions, to community and organizational contexts, and to find strategies recognized as good practices linked to their real needs.

Introduction: Borderline personality disorder is a commonly encountered disorder in psychiatry. This diagnosis is rarely given despite the benefits of its disclosure. Recommendations concerning diagnosis disclosure in psychiatry have recently been published. An analysis of the disclosure process in an outpatient team for young adults enables the identification of areas for improvement in this process, as well as nursing actions to facilitate health-illness transitions.

Method: A clinical audit was conducted through a study involving a retrospective quantitative section based on an analysis of the computerized patient file and a qualitative section based on interviews with the team’s nurses.

Results: Of the 11 cases included, none met all 16 quality criteria. The patient’s abilities were taken into consideration in 100% of cases. The criteria concerning the presence of the patient’s family were rarely respected. The nurses’ own skills made it easier to support the patient during the diagnosis announcement.

Discussion: Conflicts between the patient and their family explain the difficulties encountered. The nursing actions carried out in this process are in line with those proposed by Meleis in her transitions theory. The actions proposed to improve practices will have to be evaluated.

Introduction: Pregnant teenagers are at a higher risk of physical and psychosocial health issues, and although most pregnancies are unplanned, few studies delve into the process behind their decision to continue the pregnancy.

Objective: This study aims to identify the determinants of the pregnancy experience for teenagers and to understand the decision-making process regarding the continuation of pregnancy from the perspective of teenage girls.

Results: Key elements of the decision-making process include giving meaning to the pregnancy and anticipating the reactions of others upon announcing this decision. The pregnancy experience is linked to the support available to the mother and a rapid transition into adulthood.

Discussion: The experience of being pregnant during adolescence is a passage into a new reality that involves several difficulties and fears. The decision to maintain the pregnancy is made in solitude. The appropriation of pregnancy during the decision-making process appears to influence the degree to which teenagers seek out information, ask for support, and adopt health-conscious behaviors.

Introduction: The importance of a quality relationship between young adults living with dual diagnosis and their health care providers is well documented.

Context: Although this complex phenomenon was mostly studied from an individual perspective, the results indicated the systemic nature of this relationship.

Objective: This study aims to better understand the relationship between young adults living with dual diagnosis and their health care providers, with a systemic perspective.

Method: Six data bases were consulted; manual research in gray literature and references screening enhanced the process.

Results: Of a total of 532 studies and reports identified, 44 were included in the review. Thematic data analysis was carried out, and two themes were identified: the health care system as a constraining environment; and the relationship at the heart of care.

Discussion: This study confirms the joint role played by the young adult in question and their health care provider in developing and maintaining the relationship, by acknowledging the importance of the care, of mutual confidence, and of a hierarchic relationship.

Conclusion: This integrative review provides a basis for future nursing interventions that foreground the relationship and take a systemic approach.
