Objective: To develop a Dementia Screening Inventory for Elderly (DSI-E) and examine it’s reliability and validity. Methods: In the light of rating model of MMSE and ADL, a screening inventory was developed to assess cognitive abilities, daily activities, and mental and personality changes for elderly, which contained 55 items across 11 areas. Two thousand eight hundred and fifteen community elderly were interviewed with the DSI-E; out of them, two hundred and fifteen were retested after two weeks, one hundred ninety-nine were assessed with MMSE, ADL, MMAS, and CCAS. Results: The stability coefficient, split-half reliability, and Cronbach's α coefficient were 0.96, 0.91, and 0.85 respectively; The DSI-E was significantly correlated with MMSE (r=0.92), ADL (r=0.89), MMAS (r=0.71), and CCAS (r=0.63). Factor analysis got three factors accounting for 60.1% of variance, which were named cognitive ability, daily activity, and psychopathology. Conclusion: The stability, internal consistency, and validity of the DSI-E are good and meet with psychometric standard.

Objective:To develop Chinese Marital Quality Inventory (CMQI) and examine it's reliability and validity. Methods:A 90-items, self-report measure of marital quality was developed based definition of marital quality and Jackson's fundamental principles of scale construction. The test-retest reliability, split-half reliability, internal consistency reliability, construct validity, and empirical validity were examined in the general sample of 1303 subjects, retest sample of 52 subjects, and validity sample of 95 subjects, aged from 6 to 91 years. Results: The stability coefficients, split-half reliability, Cronbach's α coefficients were 0.852,0.899, and 0.925 for total score, 0.672~0.856,0.477~0.698 and 0.462~0.645 for 10 dimensions. The CMQI was significantly correlated with ENRICH. The correlations between dimensions ranged from 0.502 to 0.745.Factor loadings and correlations between dimensions and total score were above 0.77. The dimensional scores and total score were significantly correlated with some score of the SCL-90 and MMPI. The marital quality of separation and divorcee was worse than that of subjects in marriage. Conclusion: The stability, internal consistency, and validity of the CMQI are good and meet with psychometric standard.

Objective:To compile a marital pressure scale for city inhabitants that fits the Chinese cultural background. Methods:By analyzing and sorting the answers to the questions in the open questionnaire, the scale including 30 items was compiled. Then the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were applied to the data. Results:The finallyconstructed inventory included 3 components consisting of 14 items.Acceptable internal consistency was obtained for the total, component and item scores.Alpha was 0.75-0.82,the coefficient of split-half was 0.71-0.80.The theoretical proposition was supported by factor analysis. Conclusion:The Marital Pressure Scale for Chinese city inhabitants has satisfactory validities and reliabilities and is well suitable for the use of the native Chinese city inhabitants.
