Alternative approaches to headend arrangements in designing 400 MHz cable systems are presented. The trade-offs between coherent and non-coherent headends are discussed and the operating output level of distribution amplifiers (bridgers and line extenders) is shown to be a critical parameter in designing a 400 MHz system to meet performance and operating margins that are comparable to presently operating 300 MHz cable systems.

The results of an investigation into the effect of numerous ferrite core materials and sizes on the performance of push-pull RF amplifier circuitry is presented. Power gain, return losses, power gain stability with temperature, power output capability and core temperature under RF overload conditions are examined as a function of various core characteristics.

An Intermodulation Prediction and Measurement Technique for Multiple Carriers through Weak Nonlinearities 一种基于弱非线性的多载波互调预测与测量技术

The theory of intermodulation distortion is discussed and a direct intermodulation measurement technique is proposed for the lower order components when many carriers are amplified by a weakly nonlinear amplifier. The test signal consists of a number of sinusoids fewer than that originally required and an amplitude modulated signal whose envelope distribution is given by a Rayleigh function. This technique simplifies the test equipment required and permits weaker nonlinearities to be studied than with the previous single carrier transfer technique.
