Application of holography to bubble chambers- a review 全息技术在气泡室中的应用综述

The use of holography to provide adequate focal depth is discussed, together with the appearance of track images reconstructed from image holograms of simulated bubble tracks whose small angle scattering function closely matches that of bubbles in liquid hydrogen. A brief description of the problems of bubble chamber optics is given, stressing the need to illuminate the chamber using Scotchlite on future large chambers. Experimental measurements of the contrast and widths of reconstructed track images are reported. Tolerances on the reference and reconstruction beam geometries and film flatness are given in relation to the measurement of bubble image positions to ± 1 μm in the hologram space. The formation of an image hologram minimises these tolerances and also permits the reconstruction stage to be carried out using a polychromatic extended source which could be useful for visual scanning of the track images.

Ultra-short light pulses 超短光脉冲

After an introduction of ways of increasing laser power the authors briefly discuss the mechanism and evaluation of u.s.p. generation by self mode-locking. They describe their own work (in relation to that of others) in the U.S.S.R., on u.s.p. generation in a laser with a non-linear absorber. Their experiments yield on explanation of generation of u.s.p. as radiation pulse passes through a 2-component medium. The pulses can be amplified but the increase in power is limited by atomic processes in the active medium. Possible ways of overcoming the problems are indicated, such as using one pulse passing several times through an amplification rod. It is then possible to obtain pulses having controlled durations with energies of several joules.

Rock probe deformation measured by holographic interferometry 全息干涉法测量岩石探头变形

Mechanical pressure-induced deformations of cylindrical rock probes were measured by holographic time-lapse interferometry. As it was generally impossible to find any zeroth-order fringes, a moving-fringe evaluation method as first given by Bonch-Bruevich was used. Small displacements parallel to the hologram plane could thus be measured with very high accuracy. The method is applicable to any type of local displacement of surface elements, limited only by the solid angle subtended at the hologram by the object.
