An approach of multisensor signals processing at microcontrollers is described in this paper. This approach is based on the identification neural method of conversion individual function for a multisensor. It allows reducing an amount of calibration points and improving an accuracy of identification in a comparison with existing methods. Proposed approach was implemented in the developed system for measurement of the ultraviolet radiation level using 8-bit microcontrollers.

The universal acquisition system is presented. System is dedicated for multiple frequency domain parameters measurement: transfer, insertion loss, AC response, harmonic distortion, noise and electrical impedance. The primary application was the ultrasonic equipment AC parameters evaluation. Operation range is 20 kHz to 30 MHz. System is targeted for parameters comparison and estimation, but it is universal: all the measurements are accomplished using just one excitation and two analog reception channels. System structure and operation are presented. Modular PC104 form-factor construction allows for both local and remote PC connectivity. Setup for most common tasks and example measurement results with system is presented.

The aim of this paper is to present how Net Present Value (NPV) can be used as a proper tool to ensure effective project management. The author proves that investment project's appraisal methods, such as e.g. NPV, can and should be used as an ongoing monitor of project health. What is more, even in case of project turbulences Net Present Value can be used as a key instrument for finding the most appropriate solutions.

One of the most efficient approaches to create a recommender system is collaborative filtering (CF). CF does not require metadata about users and items, but only interactions between users and items (e.g. ratings), therefore it can be applied in many problem domains. Experience shows that for achieving high accuracy, it is worthwhile to use a blended solution, consisting of many predictors. This paper presents an algorithm for constructing a set of CF predictors so that the overall accuracy of the set is high. The algorithm was tested on the Netflix Prize dataset that contains 100 million ratings.

In these days the term power quality becomes to be significant in industry. Many manufacturers develop equipment for measuring the quality of electrical energy for various applications. However, the qualitative requirements for the operation of these devices are still not precisely defined. So it is not an exception that different manufacturers differently interpret requirements. Then it is more difficult to compare qualitative parameters of these different devices. This paper describes how to test functionality and capability of devices for measuring power quality. Automation of such a process significantly increases tester throughput and brings more consistent results.

Clouds are intend mainly to host Web applications exposed through the interfaces of services but due to several particular and interesting aspects of the Clouds, like elasticity and scalability, legacy standalone and distributed applications can also benefit from the resources offered by the Clouds. We describe in this paper a simple-to-use platform allowing to run legacy applications on Cloud computing environments. This platform is one of the results of a large project dealing with the portability of the applications running on Clouds.

The solid supply with electrical power in Europe needs the development of smart grids [1], [2]. To solve the control problems of these grids, smart metering devices and energy information systems (SCADA) are needed on the carrier level [3]. Considering private households and small enterprises, it is therefore required to replace plain old energy meters by modern smart metering components. Smart meters offer a lot of new features, for example handling of different dynamic tariffs and in addition to their carrier interface a data access capability for in-house applications. Using these capabilities an embedded in-house energy information system with a smart energy controller (SEC) will be proposed, which allows displaying real-time data information and analysis of power consumption as well as power generation. The concept is also useful to combine smart home applications with smart grid functions, if data exchange with a multi utility controller (MUC) with SML [4], and smart meter devices, e.g. eHZ [4] is used. In that case, in connection with actors, demand side management functions may be executed by the controller. This was one of the intentions of the e-energy projects EENEAS, e-energy@home and E-DeMa1.
