Control devices based on a periodic sequence of the metal-dielectric scatterers 基于金属介电散射体周期性序列的控制装置

Arbitrary-mode diffraction problems are solved analytically for a periodic sequence of a broad class of the complex metal-dielectric scatterers in the single mode regime. Such a control system as an absorbing cover, ladder-type mode and frequency filter, frequency and spatial discriminator are investigated. The peculiarities of the wave processes such as super-Q resonances, generalized Maluzhinetz effect are determined. The methods of optimization of the operational characteristics of the periodic structures are shown.

A novel beamformer with multiple signal reception for GPS receivers 一种新型GPS接收机多信号接收波束形成器

A novel beamformer is proposed for simultaneous reception of multiple satellite signals, while rejecting interference. The scheme consists of three stages. Firstly a singular value decomposition technique is utilized to construct a transformation for removing interferers. Secondly, an eigen-based beam forming is performed based on the transformed data consisting of only satellite signals and additive noise to produce multiple beams for each satellite. Finally, the weight vector is projected onto signal-plus-noise subspace to achieve a higher output SINR. Numerical examples confirm the efficacy of the proposed scheme.

Indoor angle of arrival using wide-band frequency diversity with experimental results and EM propagation modeling 利用宽带频分集的室内到达角与实验结果和电磁传播建模

In this work we have investigated the problem of angle of arrival (AOA) estimation in the indoor environment. Coherent, multi-path signals must be resolved. The approach is based upon measurement of the AOA using a band of frequencies, approximately 10%-20% of center, and utilizes order statistic filtering to estimate the true angle of arrival from the set of individual AOAs. A plane wave model is assumed for the propagating waves and a random arrangement of scatterers between the source and receiver array is assumed. We have constructed a four-element dipole array and associated receiver-acquisition system to test the approach. The results show good AOA estimates can be obtained in a building that would otherwise yield completely inconsistent estimates using narrowband methods. In addition we have simulated EM (electromagnetic) wave propagation characteristics inside buildings using 3-D computer simulation codes based on ray tracing. The model includes the physical and electrical description of the walls and the patterns of the antennas used. The EM modeling is used for evaluating the base level performance of indoor AOA algorithms.

Antenna beamwidth control using parasitic subarrays 利用寄生子阵列控制天线波束宽度

A new and effective technique of controlling the azimuth pattern of a singly or dually polarized linear antenna array is presented. It is shown that the use of parasitic elements allows us to control the azimuth beamwidth over a wide range. It is noted that this technique could be applied to other linear arrays, using other radiating elements. The analysis of coupling between fed and parasitic elements is specific to the type of element that is used, but the overall approach would still be useful.

Wide band meander line antenna for wireless communication systems 无线通信系统用宽带弯曲线天线

Printed antennas are becoming one of the most popular designs in personal wireless communications systems. In this paper, the design of a novel tapered meander line antenna is presented. The design analysis and characterization of the antenna is performed using the finite difference time domain technique and experimental verifications are performed to ensure the effectiveness of the numerical model. The new design features an operating frequency of 2.55 GHz with a 230 MHz bandwidth, which supports future generations of mobile communication systems.

A statistical model of space-time radio propagation in indoor environments 室内环境下时空无线电传播的统计模型

Previously, simulation algorithms based upon the ray tracing technique have provided the only means for developing a detailed description of the joint space-time properties of microwave radio propagation. Although widely accepted, ray tracing suffers several drawbacks, such as the need for an accurate physical database, and precise knowledge of the site-specific construction parameters. This paper describes an empirical study conducted in two distinct indoor environments. The study comprised the acquisition of 500 data sets using an antenna array, and the high-resolution post-processing of each to recover its space-time impulse response. The results of the study are used to derive a new statistical channel model, suitable for performance analysis of smart antenna and geolocation systems. The accuracy of the new model is evaluated by comparing it with the sample statistics, as well as two other models which have been previously proposed.

Fixed wireless communication systems often require a subscriber antenna that is compact and low-cost, but has a high antenna gain. We are present the design and measured results of a small hexagonal array, operating in the 3.45-3.60 GHz band. It was developed by Lucent Technologies for the wireless Internet access solution. The antenna consists of seven aperture-coupled patches and is mounted on a small octagonal reflector. It displays a high efficiency, low sidelobes, stray radiation and cross-polarization, and is suitable for low-cost high-volume fabrication.

Characterization of radio wave propagation in tunnels for microcellular communications 微蜂窝通信隧道中无线电波传播特性研究

This work presents model-based characterization of wideband radio wave propagation in straight rectangular tunnel. The propagation characteristics are presented in time and frequency domains for both vertical and horizontal polarizations. Narrowband and wideband received power results are presented. The frequency of occurrence of fast fading depends on the distance between transmitter and receiver. Space-frequency selective fading is discussed along the coherence bandwidth. The envelope cross correlation of signals with spaced frequency is found to be high for large frequency separation. The shape of the power delay profile depends on the distance between the transmitter and the receiver.

Improved method for estimating angle of arrival in multipath conditions using the 'MUSIC' algorithm 基于MUSIC算法的多径条件下到达角估计改进方法

The paper presents an improved method of estimating the angle of arrival (AOA) of a signal from a cellular radio mobile handset using a uniform linear antenna array at the base station receiver. The method is based on the 'MUSIC' algorithm. In multipath fading conditions this method can provide a biased estimate of angle of arrival due to the effect of the scattered signals. The new method incorporates a priori information concerning the distribution of the scatterers to reduce the bias in the estimate and provide a more accurate angle of arrival estimate. The new method incorporates the effect of angular spread by scaling the spatial signature of the source according to the decorrelation of the received signal across the antenna elements. The paper develops the concept of the new method and its performance is verified for an eight-element antenna array using a Monte-Carlo simulation of a DCS 1800 system.
