This research with a quantitative approach aims to determine whether the use of diary writing strategy is effective to improve writing skill in recount text of eighth grade students at MTS Negeri 2 Palu. The population in this research were students at MTS Negeri 2 Palu and the sample was students in grades VIII A and B with a total sample of 70 students. However, due to the pandemic ccovid-19with all the limitation, the researcher only obtained 24 students as the samples who took the test in this research. In this research the researcher used a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique using test, namely pre-test and post- test. The technique of data analys is that the researcher used is the t-test. The results of the data analysis showed that t-count is and t-table (t-count10,632 > t-table1,796). It means the results of the research showed that there is improvement in the eighth grade students’ writing skill in recount text after the implementation of Diary writing strategy at MTS Negeri 2 Palu.

Students usually feel bored in vocabulary lesson because they have less vocabulary and the teacher used same strategy in every meeting. In learning vocabulary, it is important used attractive strategy in order to the students interest to learn vocabulary. This research focuses on the using of talking stick strategy to the tenth grade students’ vocabulary mastery at SMA Negeri 1 Kasimbar. The researcher applied quasi experimental research design and need pre-test and post-test to both experimental and control class. The pre-test was to know the level of students’ vocabulary mastery ability before giving treatment while the post-test was used to know the result after giving treatment. There was a significant difference score of the post-test of the experimental class (696,64) and the control class (516,66). The level of significance was set up 0,05 with 18 degree of freedom ( (df) = Nx + Ny – 2 = 10 + 10 – 2). The result of data analysis indicates that tcounted (2,573) which was higher than ttable (2,153),it means that the hypothesis of the research was accepted. Thus, there was significant score improvement of using talking stick strategy to the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Kasimbar.

This paper focuses on the use and response of students related to podcast media in literal listening subject to second semester students of the English Tadris Study Program at State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Palu. The author applies a qualitative research design. The method used in this research is interview and literature study, the results of the study show that the use and response of students regarding podcast media is good, this is evidenced by the results of interviews conducted by researchers with students who are taught using podcast media and lecturers who present material using podcast media.

This research was motivated by the problems experienced by some of the eighth grade students in SMPN 1 Palu. The students still had some difficulties when expressing their ideas or feelings by using English. They had various reasons for this. Most of them said that grammar is one of the causes of their difficulties in speaking English. This research was a correlational design, the technique of collecting data using test. There were two kinds of test such as written test and oral test as the research instrument. The written test was used to measure students’ grammar competency and oral test was used to measure students’ speaking ability. The researcher used Pearson Product Moment Correlation in analyzing the data by using SPSS program 26 version. Based on the results of the correlation analysis between the students’ grammar competency and the students speaking ability, the r value was obtained at 0.407 (r > 0.361) with p = 0.023 (p <0.05) indicating that there was a significant positive correlation between students’ grammar competency and students’ speaking ability. This supported the alternative hypothesis to be accepted and the null hypothesis to be rejected. It could be concluded that there was a correlation between grammar competency and speaking ability at the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Palu in the academic year of 2020/2021.

The global pandemic that set by the World Health Organization on January 30, 2020 as a result of the new disease of Covid-19 has made many major changes, one of them in education where learning system are done through online. Online learning policies during the Covid-19 pandemic are the main solution to keeping the learning process going.This thesis aims to find out what impact of English online learning has on students' mental health during the covid-19 pandemic at SMA Negeri 2 Sojol and To find out what factors hindered students in the process of English online learning at SMA Negeri 2 Sojol. In this research, the researcher applied a descriptive qualitative research which were located at SMA Negeri 2 Sojol. Data sources obtained through primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques used are questionnaire and interviews. Based on the results of the questioner showed that they tend to just felt bored, difficult to concentrate, feelings of fear or worry if they are unable to collect tasks on time as well as their difficulty in understanding the material when English online learning during the covid-19 pandemic. Where it is caused by several factors such as poor internet network, residential environment and also monotonous teaching techniques from English teachers.

This research discusses about the use of Choral Reading in reading narrative text. The purpose of this research was to determine whether the choral reading technique affects students' pronunciation. The researcher used a quasi-experimental research design, the population in this research is class VIII Mts Alkahirat Alindau which consists of two classes, they are class 8A and 8B. In this research, class 8B as the Experimental Group by usinga purposive sampling technique. In the experimental class, the researcher gave a pre-test, treatment (choral reading), and post-test, while for the control class, only pretest and post-test without treatment. The researcher collected data through a reading test. From the calculation of the data it showed that the difference in students' scores on the pre-test and posttest with an average post-test score was higher than the average of pre-test score (67.06>30.26). This can be seen from the results obtained before and after the treatment, the score on post-test of experimental class was higher than the score on the pos-test of control group (67.0>51.2). In addition, the result showed that the t-counted was higher than the t-table (52.94>2084. Based on the data analysis, the researcher concluded that the used of Choral Reading technique was affects the pronunciation of the 8th grade students of MTs Alkharat Alinda.

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of anxiety toward students’ learning motivation of the eleventh grade at SMAN 4 Palu in the academic year 2019- 2020. This research used as a survey quantitative research method. The population of this research was conducted for the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 4 Palu with consisted of 50 students, who used purposive sampling with took 2 classes as the samples to encourage representative data. In the procedure of collecting data, the researcher used one of instrument is questionnaire. The questionnaire used to encourage the effect of anxiety and the motivation in learning English of the students. The researcher was giving students a questionnaire using WhatsApp. The questionnaire in Google form, so students just open and checklist their answer and send. The result of the questionnaire has shown there was no significant effect of anxiety toward students’ learning motivation. This result of Pearson Product Moment table, which has shown were scores of Sigs between effect Anxiety and Motivation was 0,450 or more than 0,05. It means there was no effect of anxiety toward motivation. The researcher concluding the effect of anxiety toward students' learning motivation was normal.

The result of the questionnaire has shown there was no significant effect of anxiety toward students’ learning motivation. This result of Pearson Product Moment table, which has shown were scores of Sigs between effect Anxiety and Motivation was 0,450 or more than 0,05. It means there was no effect of anxiety toward motivation. The aim of this research was to improve the speaking learning process of eight grade students ofSMP Islam Terpadu (IT) QurrotaA’yunPaluin the academic year of 2019/2020 through animation movie. This study was an class action research study. It was conducted in two cycles, from the 4th of March to the 12th of March 2020. Each cycle consisted of two meetings. The steps of the research were planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were 30 students of VIII D class, the English teacher, and the researcher. The data were in the form of qualitative data and also supported by quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process, interviewing the students and collaborators, holding discussions with the collaborators, and taking pictures of the teaching and learning process. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were obtained through post-test, the field notes and interview transcripts were analyzed qualitatively through four steps namely data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The results of this research showed that the implementation of animation movie in the speaking learning process was effective to make the students become enthusiastic in the Englishspeaking activities. The use of animation movie that was combined with speaking performances and group works made significant progress in the speaking learning process. The students were interested towards the materials, could understand the materials easily, and spoke more confidently. In reference to the number, the students who was completely the score of speaking skill was improved from 70% to 80% and the number of the students who has a high confidence in speaking was improved from 78% to 82,66%. The students’ interest level toward speaking was improved through the use of animation movies because they could learn speaking English through fun activities with their friends. Therefore, they were not bored in the teaching-learning process.

The aims of this research are to find out the effect of Instagram in learning vocabulary of third semester students at English Tadris Study Program in IAIN Palu. This research was quantitative method and used total sampling. The subject of this research was the students’ batch 2019 semester 3 academic year 2020-2021 in IAIN Palu. The total numbers of students of in this research were 102 students. After selected the sample of this research were 35 students. Research instrument is questionnaire.The technique of collection data was observation, and reduction.The result showed that Effect of Instagram in Learning Vocabulary of Third Semester Students’ at English Tadris Study Program in IAIN Palu Academic year 2020/2021, used online media namely google form. The data revealed that the level of the mean score 62,48% from 35 students which was categorized as high effect. Then the research concluded that it is evident that Instagram have an effect on learning English (vocabulary) of student. It was revealed by the mean score 62,48%. The research was classified as high category of the students’ questionnaire.
