Genetic diversity studies in selected elite genotypes and released varieties of Rice 水稻优良基因型和释放品种遗传多样性研究

An experiment was undertaken by utilizing fifty selected elite genotypes and released varieties of rice for ten yields and yield contributing characters to assess genetic divergence at Zonal Agriculture Research Station, Igatpuri, Dist. Nashik during kharif -2020. Path coefficient analysis revealed that test weight exhibited highest positive direct effect on grain yieldplant -1 and subsequently by spikelet fertility, number of panicles plant -1 , plant height, number of spikelet panicle -1 ,panicle length and days to physiological maturity. Whereas, number of fertile spikelet panicle -1 recorded the highest negative direct effect on grain yieldplant -1 . The characters viz; number of panicles plant -1 , number of spikelet panicle -1 , spikelet fertility, test weight had exerted significant positive direct effect on grain yield plant -1 and correlation of these characters with grain yield plant -1 was positively significant. Fifty genotypes were grouped into eight clusters. ClusterII was biggest and consisted of 19 genotypes followed by cluster I with 11 genotypes. The cluster III and V both were consist of 8 genotypes. All remaining clusters viz. cluster IV,

A paradigm shift in quality of modern bread wheat varieties cultivated in north-western plains of India 在印度西北平原种植的现代面包小麦品种质量的范式转变

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a prominent staple food crop spread over different agro-ecological regions of India. The national wheat research system of the country i.e. All India Coordinated Research Project on Wheat and Barley (AICRPW&B) has classified these regions as northern hills zone (NHZ), north-western plains zone (NWPZ), north-eastern plains zone (NEPZ), central zone (CZ) and peninsular zone (PZ). It has generated data on quality traits of irrigated wheat varieties popular in timely-sown and late-sown conditions of these five zones. Depending upon the quality of the materials developed for each production environment, every production environment has some characteristic features of value addition and agronomic properties. Strength and the pitfalls are therefore liable to differ under diverse production environments. Traditionally, wheat harnessed in the Central and Peninsular India is rated high in quality. Emphasis given to wheat quality in the present era has brought tremendous difference in value addition properties of wheat. Reports emerging from India have underlined progression in many parts of the country not only for productivity but for quality of the wheat as well (Mohan et al., 2017). Value addition properties are changing fast in the Indian wheat, especially in the NWPZ. The present study has examined wheat quality characteristics of the irrigated wheat varieties released from 2010 onwards. An attempt has been made to emulate the strength and weakness in quality of the modern wheat varieties harnessed in the different production environments.

Multi-Environment Analysis of Biofortification Traits in Pre-bred Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) 预育面包小麦生物强化性状的多环境分析

A set of 14 exotic-based wheat genotypes along with two check varieties were evaluated in four environments. The experimentation was conducted for two consecutive years during 2018–19 and 2019–20 at Karnal and Hisar locations. The variability observed in exotic-based genotypes is much higher than check varieties. Simultaneous improvement of GFeC, GZnC, and GPC is possible due to strong and positive correlation among the studied traits. Two genotypes i.e., G7 (BFKW-7) and G3 (BFKW-3) are suitable candidates to be utilized as potential donors for simultaneous improvement of all three traits, as these are found to be both stable and have high trait value. G4 (BFKW-4) for GFeC and GPC, and G11 (BFKW-11) for GFeC and GZnC, and G10 (BFKW-10) for GZnC and GPC were also potential donors. These stable genotypes would be a potential source for high GFeC, GZnC, and GPC to develop biofortified wheat varieties.
