Modern codes such as Turbo and LDPC codes operate at low signal-to-noise ratios, which makes carrier synchronization a challenging problem. Hence in many waveforms, some known symbols are inserted periodically into the data stream to achieve Data-Aided (DA) synchronization. However, these known symbols decrease the throughput of the transmissions. The data symbols which are unknown can also be used for synchronization, in which case it is known as Non-Data Aided (NDA) synchronization. In this paper, we present an efficient structure which is almost the same for both the DA and NDA methods,especially suitable for implementation on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA). We discuss the implementation complexity and trade-offs involved in the FPGA implementation of this structure. We illustrate its utility by applying it a satellite communications waveform, popularly known as DVB-S2.

WAVE design for next DSRC applications 下一代DSRC应用的WAVE设计

In terms of wireless communication network, especially automotive network becomes hot topics such as DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) and or WAVE (Wireless Access in Vehicle Environment). And there are also other existing mobile communications available for automotive. But in WAVE (DSRSC) activities in world wide i.e. C2C-CC (Car to Car Communication Consortium) ITS Japan, IntelliDrive1), there is no discussion for high speed access which communicates with Internet world yet. This paper provides practical wireless communication system guide line especially for automotive network applications among potential wireless communication systems including existing network technology such as 3G or UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) including next broadband access WiMAX. Authors provide more practical method for wireless communication architecture design. In previous paper2) for 5.9GHz DSRC cell design for next DSRC, it was introduced cell design concept using mobile communication cell design method into vehicle wireless communication design and provides new DSRC architecture design but only 5.9GHz frequency band. In this paper, authors expand potential wireless communication technologies from DRSC to 3G and WiMAX. And authors provide practical vehicle wireless communication systems for next new DSRC applications.

Voice transmission quality measurement algorithm with non-native listener emulation capability 具有非本机听者仿真能力的语音传输质量测量算法

This paper describes the design and verification of algorithm for voice transmission quality measurements in the environment of non-native listeners; it means the communication language differs from the mother tongue of the expected communication service user. The algorithm is based on existing ITU-T P.862 (PESQ) enhanced by newly developed non-nativity emulation block. The calculations in this block are based on subjective test results carried out in compliance with ITU-T P.800 on databases of English and French speech samples affected by various coding distortions and background noise conditions. The results confirm applicability of the developed algorithm in case of non-native communication cases.

End-to-end performance of dual hop transmission with fixed relay 固定中继双跳传输的端到端性能

A dual-hop transmission in Rayleigh fading channels is presented where the relay uses Amplify and Forward (AF) protocol and Selection Combining (SC) technique. A closed-form expression is derived for outage probability of the overall received SNR at the destination. Also, the performance analysis is presented in terms of the Average Bit Error Rate (ABER) and expressions are derived for its upper and lower bounds. Finally, comparison between DF and AF systems are presented. We use simulation to verify the analytical results. Numerical results show that the proposed relaying system outperform the conventional relaying which use a single antenna in receiver and transmitter.

The effect of channel and time-slot assignment algorithms on data loss events in OFDM/TDMA multi-hop wireless networks 信道和时隙分配算法对OFDM/TDMA多跳无线网络中数据丢失事件的影响

In this study, we examine the effects of channel and time-slot allocation algorithms on data loss events in multi-hop wireless networks. We investigate networks where all nodes have a single-radio antenna, the MAC layer protocol is synchronized OFDM, and each channel uses TDMA. In such networks, data collisions can be avoided by reserving data time-slots. Data loss can also occur when a receiving node changes its assigned channel, hence it does not completely receive the data which is on the link. We call this type of loss data corruption. Our simulations show that if there are several available time slots to reserve, a proper channel and time-slot selection algorithm is required to prevent data corruption. Consequently, it is better that a node changes channels as infrequently as possible and any necessary change should take place at an appropriate time. The same is true about switching between receiving and sending modes, i.e. switching modes also leads to data loss, so it should be avoided whenever possible. In this study we propose a new algorithm to allocate channels and time-slots so as to decrease data loss.

Mission-critical packet transfer with explicit path selection in WMN-based tactical networks 基于wmn的战术网络中具有明确路径选择的关键任务数据包传输

In military communication environments, most mission-critical data should be guaranteed to be delivered to their corresponding targets in time even sacrificing the quality of services (QoSs) for existing non-mission-critical flows. This preemption capability is one of the most required features for the operation of tactical networks. And, it can be achieved by sacrificing QoSs for traditional class-based non mission-critical flows along the path for the delivery of those mission-critical data. Multilevel precedence and preemption (MLPP) has been developed for circuit-switched military networks. Since the paths to deliver data in circuit-switched networks are explicitly established, the implementation of MLPP is very simple,. However, since paths to deliver data are implicit and varying according to the changes of topologies in packet-switched and mobile ad-hoc networks, it is very difficult to implement the precedence capability. In this paper, we propose a preemptive control method to guarantee the delivery of mission-critical data in wireless mesh network (WMN)-based mobile tactical networks. To provide the preemption capability, we also propose a method to establish an explicit path in WMN environment. With the explicitly established path, cross layer-based queue management scheme at each node along the path is also proposed. The performances of the proposed method are evaluated through simulations, and the results show that the proposed method is very suitable to support preemptive mission-critical data delivery.

A novel CQI feedback and user allocation scheme for PU2RC/OFDMA systems in correlated MIMO channels 基于相关MIMO信道的PU2RC/OFDMA系统CQI反馈与用户分配方案

On the multi-antenna broadcast channel, Space division multiple access (SDMA) extracts the multiplexing gain by transmitting multiuser packets simultaneously to maximize the system throughput. This paper considers a practical design called per user unitary and rate control (PU2RC) in order to achieve the multi-user diversity (MUDiv) for SDMA with the reasonable feedback burden. However, PU2RC/OFDMA needs to feedback the preferred precoding index and its CQIs per resource unit, chunk. Moreover, it has a defect in scheduling the streams using user grouping and is difficult to achieve MUDiv fully. In order to overcome these drawbacks, we employ transmitter controlled precoding and opportunistic feedback (TCP-OFB) in conjunction with frequency scheduling for single-user and multi-user allocation. Numerical results shows that the proposed scheme achieves comparable performance to conventional PU2RC/OFDMA with a far reduced feedback load in any user allocation and antenna correlation scenarios.

Modeling fairness in resource allocation for secondary users in a competitive cognitive radio network 竞争认知无线网络中二次用户资源分配公平性建模

We consider a multi-channel cognitive radio network (CRN) where multiple secondary users share a single channel and multiple channels are simultaneously used by a single secondary user (SU) to satisfy their rate requirements. In this competitive CRN, our interest is in determining optimal power and rate distribution choices for each SU while maintaining fairness in “quality of experience” across all SUs. Unlike prior approaches that focus on resource allocation based on instantaneous quality of service (QoS), our approach to fairness encompasses both current and prior history of user experience with respect to QoS. Specifically, we quantify user experience over time by introducing dynamic fairness weights for each SU in the resource allocation framework. The dynamics of the weights are governed by the Homo Egualis (HE) society model. We consider Jain system level fairness index [1] as a measure of fairness in resource allocation. Simulation results show that the weighted resource allocation scheme provide a better system level fairness index relative to the unweighted allocation scheme.

Optimized digital automatic gain control for DVB-S2 system DVB-S2系统的优化数字自动增益控制

In DVB-S2 receiver, the demodulator needs accurate soft information about the received symbol distance from the reference constellation points. Digital automatic gain control is adopted to adjust the level of the incoming symbols to the reference constellations to help obtaining a good demodulator performance. In this paper, an optimized digital automatic gain control method for DVB-S2 system is presented based on the analysis of a novel reasonable cost function and the potential constellation property. The proposed scheme can operate adequately well over the demanded range of signal-to-noise ratio and support both with pilot and without pilot modes with much lower complexity. The mathematical derivation of the scheme is given in detail and the advantages over the conventional methods are clearly demonstrated by simulation results.

The application of hybrid space-polarization block coding 混合空间极化分组编码的应用

As the demand for high wireless data rates in indoor environments grows, we must find new ways to increase the performance of wireless links in muliti-path fading. One common way to do this is to add diversity in the form of spatial or temporal diversity through the application of space-time block codes (STBCs). The drive for performance coupled with the small size requirements for mobile terminals has renewed interest in polarization diversity as a method for improving links. This paper is an investigation into the performance of traditional cross polarized channels compared to a new hybrid scheme consisting of spatially separated transmit, and cross polarized receive antennas.
