The present study deals with the survey on the antidiabetic plant species with discussed to local people, which regulate the blood sugar level. Diabetes or Madhumeha is a disease in which there is an improper functioning of insulin and increase the sugar level in the blood. Diabetes may cause heart problem, kidney failure, blurred vision if not treated timely. Diabetes mellitus is increasing alarmingly worldwide and is defined as the abnormal glucose tolerance, which affects pancreatic beta-cells functions and sensitivity leading to the development of diabetes and its related complications. It is a chronic disorder of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism characterized by increased fasting and post prandial blood sugar level and an increased risk of vascular complications. For this problem the different plant parts such as root, stem, leaf, flower, seeds, fruits and their crude extracts that have been used in the Indian traditional system of medicine and have clinical anti-diabetic activity. In the present investigation we have conducted an ethnobotanical survey to collect information about the use of traditional medicinal plants for diabetes treatment. Our survey has reported 24 numbers of medicinal plants belonging to different families. Family Cucubritaceae was found to be of high frequency in terms of its use with a maximum of 3 species.

Sweet corn is one of the staple foods in many nations across the world. It has high quality phytonutrition profile comprising of dietary fiber, vitamins and antioxidants in addition to minerals in moderate proportions. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of broiling on the proximate composition, antioxidants activity and phytochemicals content in sweet corn. Broiling and drying was done for the preparation of dry powder and aqueous extract of sweet corn. Proximate composition, phytochemical content and antioxidant activity of the sample were determined through standard procedures. The results indicated that moisture, protein, carbohydrate, fat, iron, calcium and vitamin C content decreases and fiber and ash content increases after broiling of sweet corn. There was no qualitative changes has been seen in phytochemicals and antioxidants content (Tannin, Phytic acid, Flavonoids and Phenols) after broiling of sweet corn.

The use of Plastic has become a very essential material in our day to day life and plays a vital role in human comfort. But due to the non-biodegradable property of plastic, it has become a major pollution concern throughout the world. In this paper the problems associated with plastic material, their impact on environment and the alternatives of plastic derivatives were discussed. This paper will be helpful to spread awareness about plastic pollution

The activities of man constitute one single factor, which often disrupt the intricate balance among the foregoing constituents of the life support system. In his eagerness to urbanize and industrialize, man has not only destroyed plant cover built up meticulously by nature over millions of years, but also polluted air, water and land, so much so that development has become synonymous with deforestation and desertification and progressed with pollution. Air pollution has become a major environmental risk as far as public health is concerned. It has been proposed that reduction in levels of air pollution may result in lessening of the global burden of disease. Emissions from vehicles possess various pollutants which cause worst form of environmental pollution. Various pollutants of vehicles altered parameters of exposed vegetation. Increase in vehicles pollution may also increase effect of vehiclesemitted pollutants on vegetation. It affects mainly the photosynthetic pigments, respiratory activities, enzymatic activities, uptake of water etc. This review highlighted on worsening air quality around the world, studies on dust interception capacity of plants, physiological alterations in plants in response to air pollution load, elemental distribution in different environmental samples and effects of urban dust particulates with respect to plant growth .

This study documents the traditional uses of Cheura or Chyur (Diploknema butyracea) by a tribal group (Van-Raji) in Eastern Uttarakhand part of western Himalayan region. Cheura is one of the economically important but lesser known and underutilized multipurpose tree of Himalaya. It has a great spiritual and cultural importance along with livelihood association along the Himalayan communities especially the Van-Rajis, which are among the most ancient primitive vulnerable tribes (PVTs) of India with a population of around 700 in Uttarakhand. Field surveys were conducted during 2015–2017 to collect data on the availability and uses of various parts of this tree by the tribals in their 9 hamlets in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. These tribals use almost all the parts of the tree and has a great economic value in respect of food, fuel wood, timber, fodder and other products. It is also used to cure many diseases and body disorders by the community people such as in inflammation of tonsils, rheumatism, itching, ulcers, hemorrhage, etc. All such uses are discussed. An attempt has also been made to document the current causes of habitat loss of this socio-economic important tree and traditional knowledge thereof along with a suggested action plan.
