With a cross-sectional observational study based on a questionnaire, the adherence of the Romanian population to a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle was evaluated, as well as nutritional imbalances in correlation with the health status of the respondents. A total number of 2352 valid answers was registered from 66.7% female respondents and 33.3% male respondents. Regarding the respondents' adherence to a healthy diet correlated with a balanced lifestyle, it was found that only 4.3% of the respondents adopt a balanced diet. A BOX-BEHNKEN DESIGN FOR OPTIMIZATION OF ULTRASOUND-ASSISTED EXTRACTION OF SINAPIC ACID FROM FRAGARIA ANANASSA 优化超声波辅助提取山奈酸的箱式贝肯设计

The present study focuses on optimizing the extraction process of sinapic acid from Fragaria ananassa using ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE). The extraction process study variables were: temperature in the range of 20 to 60°C, extraction time between 20 and 90 minutes and the solid-to-liquid ratio ranging from 10 to 30 mL/g. Response surface analysis determined that the most favourable conditions for sinapic acid extraction were at a temperature of 60°C, extraction time of 55 minutes and at a liquid-to-solid ratio of 30 mL/g. Under these conditions, the extraction yield of sinapic acid was measured at 23.56 mg/g. The experimental results closely aligned with the predicted values, affirming the reliability of the proposed model. Furthermore, UAE proved to be a highly effective method, exhibiting significantly reduced extraction time and producing higher levels of sinapic acid compared to traditional extraction techniques. HPLC analysis confirmed the presence of substantial amounts of sinapic acid in Fragaria ananassa . In conclusion, the optimized UAE method, in conjunction with HPLC-UV analysis, presents a valuable approach for the efficient extraction and estimation of sinapic acid from Fragaria ananassa . These results have the potential to greatly benefit industrial applications that need for extremely high extraction yields of these organic molecules.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ANALGO-SEDATION IN THE PATIENT WITH SERIOUS PELVIC AND SPINE TRAUMA DURING TRANSPORT 在转运过程中对骨盆和脊柱有严重创伤的病人进行肛门镇静的重要性

This prospective, randomised study aimed to assess the efficacy of ketamine/propofol (K/P) compared to the commonly used fentanyl/midazolam (F/M) combination in providing analgesia for patients with severe pelvic and spinal trauma. The study, conducted over 30 months on 154 patients, found that the K/P group experienced significantly lower perceived pain levels, as measured on the numerical pain scale, when compared to the F/M group (p < 0.0001). Additionally, patients in the K/P group achieved adequate sedation with an average Ramsay scale score of 3.1, while the F/M group had a more profound sedation with a score of 5.5 (p < 0.0001). Furthermore, the study demonstrated that analgesia with K/P significantly improved the physiological severity score (PSS) (p < 0.0001) and resulted in a notably lower incidence of oxygen desaturation, with only one patient experiencing this in the K/P group compared to 16 patients in the F/M group (p = 0.0003). These findings suggest that co-administration of low-dose ketamine and propofol provides safe and effective sedation and analgesia, both in the emergency department and pre-hospital settings. The study highlights the importance of adequate pain management in severe trauma cases and emphasizes the potential advantages of using the K/P combination over F/M, particularly due to the reduced risk of oxygen desaturation and the more moderate level of sedation achieved with K/P. These results underscore the potential clinical utility of this approach in improving the overall care and outcomes of patients with severe pelvic and spinal trauma

THE ANALGESIC PROPERTIES OF THE FLAVONOID GALANGIN IN EXPERIMENTAL ANIMAL MODELS OF NOCICEPTION 黄酮类化合物高良姜素在痛觉实验动物模型中的镇痛特性

This study aimed to investigate the antinociceptive properties of galangin using various nociception models. Galangin's effects were assessed across different doses (50, 100, 150, and 200 µg/kg bw) in mice through multiple pain tests. The results were compared to those of mice treated with acetylsalicylic acid or morphine, with or without naloxone. In addition to standard pain models, capsaicin-and glutamate-induced tests were employed to explore the involvement of the vanilloid and glutamatergic systems in galangin's pain-relief mechanisms. It was found that galangin exhibited a significant, dose-dependent reduction in pain behaviour during the acetic acid-induced writhing test, with a 72.2% inhibition observed at a 200 µg/kg bw dose. In the hot plate test, it increased latency period, with a 72.0% increase at the same dose. Galangin also significantly inhibited both neurogenic and inflammatory phases in the formalin-induced paw-licking test. These effects were reversed by naloxone treatment, indicating opioid system involvement. Galangin further showed inhibitory effects on neurogenic nociception induced by capsaicin and glutamate. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) revealed that galangin, at doses of 100 and 200 µg/kg bw, significantly reduced pro-inflammatory cytokine levels (IL-1β, TNF-α, IFN-γ, and NO) in mouse serum. Clindamycin HCl is an antibiotic with limited bioavailability ranging from 0.7% to 12.9% of the applied dose. The ethosomal delivery system can increase the bioavailability of clindamycin HCl. However, in the manufacturing process, the speed and time of stirring are essential factors that affect the characterization of the resulting ethosomes. This study aims to optimize the clindamycin HCl ethosomal formula by varying the stirring speed (7,600 and 15,000 rpm) and stirring time (15 and 30 minutes) using ultra-turrax with a 2 2 factorial design method. The ethosomal formula was characterized including entrapment efficiency, particle size, polydispersity index and potential zeta. The optimum formula was tested for stability according to the ICH Q1A (R2) standard. The optimum formula was obtained at a stirring speed of 7,600 rpm and a stirring time of 15 minutes with an entrapment efficiency percentage of 72.38 ± 0.36%, a particle size of 270.80 ± 8.69 nm, a polydispersity index of 0.111 ± 0.032 and a potential zeta of -31.21 ± 0.82 mV. Food safety and biosecurity are paramount when introducing EOs into dairy farming practices. Rigorous safety assessments, including toxicity, allergenicity and potential adverse effects on animal health, are essential for the welfare of both livestock and consumers. Additionally, managing EO residues is challenging due to their potential impact on dairy product composition. Moreover, the variable effects of EOs on dairy animals` performance add complexity. While EOs show potential for inhibiting oxidative reactions and microbial spoilage, their influence on nutrient utilisation, ruminal fermentation and milk performance varies. Extensive research is required to optimise EO dosage and formulation for consistent performance benefits. Sustainability is a critical concern, requiring the alignment of EO utilisation with sustainable agricultural practices to address environmental and resource constraints. Lastly, consumer perception and acceptance are vital, necessitating transparent communication and an understanding of consumer preferences to maintain trust in dairy products. Addressing these challenges enables the dairy industry to harness the full potential of EOs, ensuring ongoing safety, quality and sustainability in dairy product production. This research aimed to create and refine intranasal mucoadhesive amisulpride-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (AMS-MNLCs) to increase efficacy and safety by increasing nasal-mucosal adhesion and facilitating direct brain targetability. Using HPMC K4M, Carbopol 934, and Hyaluronic acid (HA), AMS-MNLCs were made by applying modified melt-emulsification and ultra-sonication procedures. The results of the pH, osmolarity, and mucoadhesive tests on the optimized formulation were 6.3 ± 0.02, 304.53 ± 2.15, and 26.07 ± 0.37, respectively. Rheological investigation, in-vitro release and ex-vivo permeation study of the optimized formulation revealed a shear-thinning behaviour, significantly higher release, and the flux of the drug from the formula was 975.2 ± 12.45. Based on the pharmacokinetic analyses in rats, intranasal AMS-MNLCs were reported to have a brain C max about 14 times higher than intravenous AMS-solution. In addition, two weeks of intranasal administration of formulation did not affect haematological parameters in the in vivo research. The histopathological investigation showed that there was no disruption of the naso-mucosal membrane structure. Therefore, the created and optimized intranasal MNLCs showed a promised venue for the efficient and secure delivery of AMS as an antiemetic drug for the prevention and treatment of preoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).

To investigate the risk factors for postoperative incision infection in colorectal cancer surgery patients, a study was conducted in which 240 patients were included. Study participants were randomly divided into two groups. According to doctor's advice, patients in the control group received routine treatment and care, while patients in the experimental group received traditional Chinese medicine fumigation with Jefuyin decoction. Incision infection rates in patients in the two groups were compared. In addition, enrolled patients were divided into infection group and non-infection group according to the occurrence of postoperative incision infection. Risk factors attributed to infection included diabetes, a history of abdominal surgery, preoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECT OF MONOAMMONIUM GLYCYRRHIZINATE ON EXPERIMENTAL COLITIS 甘草酸单铵对实验性结肠炎的抗炎作用

Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (MAG), as a derivative of glycyrrhizic acid, has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-tumour, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-ulcer and hepatoprotective effects. In this study, we aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of MAG on hapten-induced experimental colitis. MAG in doses of 30 and 50 mg/kg bw was injected intraperitoneally for 6 days, starting one day before inducing colitis with 2,4-dinitrobenzene sulfonic acid. On day 6, colon segments were scored for macroscopic and histological damage. Blood samples were taken in order to measure levels of cytokines by ELISA methods. Our data showed that MAG at a dose of 50 mg/kg bw improved clinical symptoms and macroscopic and histological damage to the colon in all the rats with colitis. MAG significantly affected the serum concentrations of the inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1 and IL-6 and the level of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 on day 6 after induction of colitis. These findings indicate that MAG significantly inhibits colonic inflammatory damage in a rat model of inflammatory bowel disease.
