Integration of multi-modal travel in historical campus - The case of Wuhan University 历史校园中多式联运的融合——以武汉大学为例

Historical campus in China has been challenged by rapid motorization. The campus of Wuhan University has a long history and boasts of many nationally protected historical buildings. In addition to ordinary management, the campus has become a tourist attraction. A number of motor vehicles entering the campus has caused many traffic problems. This paper discusses traffic problems existing in the campus of Wuhan University, and analyzes travel demand and travel modes for different purposes. Based on accessibility measurement, this paper discusses ways of integrating different modes of travel in and outside the campus. Much emphasis is put on integration of walking and bus travel. Also, suggestions are put forward on improving pedestrian environment by decreasing unnecessary motor vehicles in the historical area.

Participation in China's rural homestead replacement From a comparison between the practices of Chengdu and Zhucheng 参与中国农村宅基地置换——从成都与诸城市的比较看

By comparing the distinct institutional arrangements of two areas within the context of land-dependent local fiscal pattern in China, this paper uses an incentive compatibility mechanism to explain the success experienced in Chengdu and the failure of Zhucheng. And it uncovers the key of Chengdu's case is the comprehensive participation including concerns for the rural households' better-off life in the reform in particular.
本文通过比较中国土地依赖型地方财政模式下两地不同的制度安排,运用激励相容机制来解释成都的成功和诸城的失败。成都案例的关键在于全面参与,特别是对农村家庭小康生活的关注。

Study on tourism radiation scope in urbanization transition—Based on case of Shanghai 城市化转型中旅游辐射范围研究——以上海为例

An evaluation index system on urban tourism radiation power that can reflect the level of the overall urban tourism economy growth, social development and ecological construction has been built based on respects like urban tourism revenue, scale of tourists, quantity of tourism resources, tourism employment and area of natural ecotourism sites. Analytic Hierarchy Process and Delphi Method are applied to weighting assignment on this index system. Urban tourism indicators data related to Shanghai and prefecture-level cities and provincial capitals chain around Shanghai is selected from Yearbook of Tourism Statistics and other correlative statistical reports and breakpoint model is introduced to measure radiation scope of tourism on Shanghai during urbanization transition. In accordance with the urbanization transition requirements, some policies are putt forward to improve tourism radiation power of Shanghai, enhance the communication among the radiation scope and accelerate the development of regional tourism.
从城市旅游收入、游客规模、旅游资源量、旅游就业和自然生态旅游点面积等方面,构建了反映城市旅游经济增长、社会发展和生态建设整体水平的城市旅游辐射力评价指标体系。运用层次分析法和德尔菲法对该指标体系进行了权重分配。选取《旅游统计年鉴》等相关统计报告中与上海及环沪地级市、省会城市链相关的城市旅游指标数据,引入断点模型测算城市化转型过程中旅游对上海的辐射范围。根据城市化转型的要求,提出了提高上海旅游辐射力、加强辐射范围之间的沟通、加快区域旅游发展的政策建议。

The Livability and characteristics of rural villages in the context of urban-rural integration development: A Case of Jiang Yi Village, Guangdong Province, China 城乡一体化发展背景下的乡村宜居性及其特征——以广东省江一村为例

The process of Chinese urbanization and rural development has developed to a stage of urban-rural integration. Due to the impact of urban culture and villagers' spontaneous desire for urban civilization, villages and rural communities are in a tendency of convergent compounds, the traditional rural environment, characteristics and spatial pattern of villages disappearing, and thus this has caused a huge impact on the new rural construction. It is an important issue, which should not be overlooked, to protect and promote the rural landscape, geographical space, social, historical and cultural features in the new rural construction. Based on the background above, this paper presents the theoretical framework of livable village construction in the context of urban-rural development, with setting a case in Jiang Yi Village, Foshan City of Guangdong Province, China. The experience of village construction planning and the construction of rural residential areas would enrich the theoretical system of new village construction and could be regarded as a reference to current new rural construction in other areas.
中国城市化和农村发展的进程已经发展到城乡一体化阶段。由于城市文化和村民自发的城市文明欲望的影响,村庄和乡村社区呈现趋同复合的趋势,传统乡村环境、乡村特色和乡村空间格局逐渐消失,这对新农村建设造成了巨大的影响。保护和弘扬乡村景观、地理空间、社会历史文化特色,是新农村建设中不可忽视的重要问题。基于以上背景,本文以广东省佛山市江一村为例,提出了城乡发展背景下宜居村建设的理论框架。农村建设规划和农村居民点建设的经验丰富了新农村建设的理论体系,对当前其他地区的新农村建设具有一定的借鉴意义。

A study of the pattern of urbanization among underdeveloped towns at mountainous area in Hubei province during the ongoing process of transformation—Macheng city in Hubei province as the case 转型过程中湖北省山地欠发达城镇城市化模式研究——以湖北省麻城市为例

This paper focuses on key issues in the analysis of underdeveloped towns in mountainous area. First, it provides an overview and critique of methodological approaches to review the drawbacks of rapid urbanization in Eastern China. Second, the example of Macheng is used to demonstrate the dilemma faced by poverty-stricken mountainous areas. Third, this article explores the ways in which an optimal model can be developed or redeveloped to improve economic competitiveness while preserving or enhancing the natural environment of the mountains. The five aspects considered are policy-making, population migration, space optimization, transportation infrastructure construction and improvement of the ecological environment. To ensure sustainable urbanization of mountainous regions, this paper addresses the following issues:developing a multi-dimensional coordinated decision-making mechanism, having a clear division of responsibilities between towns, distributing a gradational shifting of population each town and village, organizing a highly concentrated space along with organic spread out transportation infrastructure and carrying out in stages during urbanization.

Entrepreneurial urban growth with Chinese characteristics 中国特色创业型城市成长

Conventional wisdom attributed China's rapid urbanization to targeted measures taken by the central state. This paper looks at the role of Chinese local states in China's urban and industrial growth, not as an advocate of urbanization and industrialization per se, but as an entrepreneurial manager that aims to maximize its revenues from urban physical and economic growth. It demonstrates how local states in China are motivated by the imperatives associated with fiscal and political institutions and enabled by housing and land use policies to promote the growth of real estate and manufacturing sectors. It is under such circumstance that urban growth becomes the imperative mission of Chinese local states. This paper concludes with implications of this urban growth logic for sustainable urban development.

The influence of functional zoning on land use and travel behavior in Shanghai, China 上海市功能区划对土地利用和出行行为的影响

In the last three decades China has demonstrated remarkable progress in its urbanization as well as urban planning. Functional zoning is an important part in the statutory urban planning “general planning” in China. But now many literatures focuses on the ecological zoning and main-functional zone division, which is proposed by ecologists and economists in China, only few scholars have mentioned the functional zoning in urban planning, not to mention the effects of the function on traffic behavior and land use. Selecting 30 stations from 267stations in 11 rail transit lines in Shanghai, the study focuses on the urbanized rail station areas within a 500 m-radius of a rail station and examines the influence of functional zoning on land use factors like land use type, LUM, FAR and traffic behavior factors like trip mode, public transit ratio, travel duration. Data on density, floor area ratio, land use types(dwelling, office, commerce & finance, industry, education and others), diversity and the public transit ratio was acquired from investigation and then calculated by Entropy formula, GIS, CAD and SPSS. Data on travel behaviors, the quality of transit service, and the characteristics of passengers was gained from questionnaires. And the data of bus lines, frequency, operation time, the quantity of transit stop etc. was gained from diverse databases such as Shanghai metro, ddmap and then checked through other public authorities and spot checks. This work will demonstrate the correlation of functional zoning and land use as well as traffic behavior, enhance viewpoints of general planning towards a more systematic, comprehensive insight of functional zoning development, and most importantly find a new way to both optimize land use and enhance the traffic design.

Based on an overview of the scoring system for optimum efficiency in building construction and site planning, this research compares several international scoring systems to understand both their processes and their products, including the extent to which they represent innovation in sustainable urban planning. A spatial analysis of housing prices in Chinese coastal cities, a case study of the city of Xiamen, China 中国沿海城市房价空间分析——以厦门市为例

This paper used geostatistics and spatial analysis functions in GIS to investigate the spatial variation in housing prices in Xiamen Island (a typical coastal city in China). The authors found that: 1.) The spatial distribution is not evenly balanced and the house prices in the southwest, east and northeast areas are high, while the north and south areas are low. 2. ) The spatial distribution of housing price is scattered and non-continuous, which is different with other inland cities. 3.) The spatial distribution of housing prices for Xiamen Island is single centered and a double center is beginning to form. 4.) The edge effect of a coastal city, public service facility allocation, urban development history, and urban planning are the main reasons affecting the spatial variation of housing prices in Xiamen Island.

Socioeconomic impact analysis of the Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway: From a megaregion's perspective 武广高铁的社会经济影响分析——基于大区域视角

High-speed rail (HSR) planning is typically undertaken at a megaregion-scale or beyond, because HSR has its comparative speed advantage within the travel distance between 100 and 500 miles, which coincides with the geographic extent of a typical megaregion. China is no exception. After the opening of the Wuhan-Guangzhou High- Speed Railway (Wuguang PDL), it has generated significant impacts on the socioeconomic developments for those cities along the line, even though its socioeconomic and geographic inequity will persist or even get worse. This study examines the socioeconomic impacts of the Wuguang PDL on Wuhan, Changsha, and Pearl River Delta Megaregions at both city and regional levels.
