Both theoretical and practical importance has recently been attached to an analysis of the operating profit margin as a measure of the long-term performance of companies. In the integrated financial reporting it is presented through various indicators based on it. In view of this, we have made a comparative analysis of the operating profit margin and its impact on the performance of trade companies in Serbia and comparable countries. The general conclusion is that it shows a growth tendency and is, nevertheless, lower in comparison to trading companies from countries of a developed market economy. In order to increase the operating profit margin, as a measure of long-term performance, it is necessary to manage the financial structure of the trading companies in Serbia as effectively as possible.

Although active learning in practice enterprises is a well-known and widely used instructional method for entrepreneurial skills development, it remains a challenging issue to analyse how students immersed in practice enterprise learning journey developed their hard and soft skills and become interested in applying to startup funding programmes. In this study, a project-based storytelling approach is proposed to address two research propositions. Based on semi-structured interviews, the storytelling approach has been applied to a sample of 20 students involved in three practice enterprises from Faculty of Economics and Business Administration”, Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. All of them had previous experience in dealing with practice enterprises challenges, during their studies at the Economic College “Virgil Madgearu” of Galati. FsQCA methodology was employed to assess the causal conditions that led to students’ success in entrepreneurial initiatives, built on their experiences with Simpract project (Transition from school to active life through internships and practice enterprises). The results show that the project-based active learning within practice enterprises enhanced the students’ hard and soft entrepreneurial skills

Romania's energy intensity is almost double compared to the EU average. The country is the sixth most energy-intensive country in the EU-28 and there is a great need for energy efficiency in all economic sectors. Energy efficiency represented a significant part of each of Romania’s energy strategies over the past decades. In order to achieve the goals set out here, many measures have been taken to increase efficiency in all areas of the country's economy. Economic growth has apparently decoupled from energy consumption. However, this fact can be rather explained due to the structural change of the economy towards tertiarization and low energy intensity industries. The present article presents a critical overview of the development of Romania and it’s economic sectors with regard to their energy intensity. It addresses both economic and political and legal frameworks, with a focus on energy policy. Special attention will be given to industry, with a focus on energy-intensive industrial sectors.

Organizing a viable irrigation system in the context of climate change at the level of Romanian agriculture is a priority. Currently, only 12% of the total agricultural area is irrigated. In order to benefit from irrigation, Romanian farmers must be members of the Organization of the Irrigation Water Users (OUAI), assigned to the area in which they own land or conclude seasonal contracts. A survey addressed to the OUAI in Galati County attempted to identify the relations between the members that can lead to the association not only for irrigation, but also for agricultural activities. An analysis of the data obtained from the survey was carried out, using the „fuzzy set comparative qualitative analysis” (fsQCA) method, in the context of land fragmentation, in conjunction with supporting national and European programs for the association and development of the irrigation infrastructure. The results of the study are important because it reflects the main issues highlighted by the farmers in the analyzed area regarding the association.

Innovation is representing a key word in this dynamic world and the organizations strives for attracting and using the best resources for providing highest value to their stakeholders. Knowledge based organizations are very sensitive and sensitive to society and economy developments. Sensitivity increases due to the increased awareness of complex relationships between the organization and the environment. The universities are among the elites of these types of and the research carried out by them support them to fulfill their critical role for local and regional development. The role of the organization itself and the impact that individual and group performance have on the overall results are amplified as they prove to be great in innovation field. It is a major shift to see the role of universities as a trigger, but also as a fortifier of major trends that are critical for society, bringing the best from scientific research, but also from educational field and providing maximum value to their stakeholders

As a practice of identifying and handling conflicts, conflict management has been subjected to an intense scrutiny and even criticism, coming from both traditionalists (still dominant among Romanian managers), and progressive managers. As a result, conflict management systems got blamed for not including all stakeholders’ interests, as well as for undermining managers’ authority, among other not less important aspects. However, the solution to conflict management systems’ perceived flaws may reside in a strategic approach to conflict management, which should complement each organization’s strategic goals and existing structures, and therefore replace the best practices approach with a configurational approach focused on the best strategic fit for every organization.
