Measurement and estimation of waves generated by a small ship in port 港口内小船产生的波浪的测量与估计

Many theoretical studies on waves generated by relatively large ships have been done, and many design experiments have been undertaken to reduce wave resistance using models in a towing tank or a circulating water channel. However, little research has been conducted on waves generated by relatively small real ships. Occasionally, waves generated in the port by small ships traveling freely at high speeds cause severe sea conditions for moored loading ships, other small boat, and visitors on the pier. In particular, large waves generated in port by powerful tugboats can affect small boat in passing, moored small boats, yachts in marinas and yacht harbor, and people using recreational sea areas. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the experimental measurement of ship waves generated in port by powerful tugboat and other small boats at high speeds, and to examine the estimations of heights, periods and direction of ship waves.

Comparing of LPC-EKF, LPC-UKF in UUV bearings-only tracking systems LPC-EKF与LPC-UKF在UUV方位跟踪系统中的比较

Unmanned underwater vehicles have various missions within civilian, military and academic sectors. They have the ability to explore areas unavailable to manned assets and to perform duties that are risky to humans. In particular,UUVs have the ability to perform bearings-only tracking in shallow areas near shorelines. This article compares a Logarithmic Polar Coordinates EKF (LPC-EKF) and Logarithmic Polar UKF (LPC-UKF) for the estimation problem. Its objective is to track the kinematics (position, velocity and course) of a moving target using noise-corrupted bearing measurements.

Coastal ocean simulation of the Gulf of Thailand: A case study of finite volume coastal ocean model 泰国湾沿岸海洋模拟:以有限体积沿岸海洋模型为例

The Sunda Shelf is settled in Southeast Asia where it forms a large submerged extension of the continental shelf of mainland Asia. The Sunda shelf includes the Greater Sunda Islands of Borneo, Java and Sumatra and the bulk of the shelf forms the shallow seabed of the South China Sea, the coastal areas of Cambodia, Malaysia Peninsula, Singapore, Borneo, and parts of the coast of Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. This shelf is characterized by complex shoreline and seafloor topography which can result in complicated tidal characteristics. In this work, we aim to gain insightful understanding of mechanism of the tidal wave propagation in this region. To achieve this, we perform simulation with high fidelity for the Gulf of Thailand and nearby areas. The high fidelity includes high resolution bathymetry (30 seconds), finer scale capturing and ability to preserve the realistic, complex coastline and islands. To this end, we employ the finite volume method in our simulation for its geometric flexibility, computational efficiency as well as volume and mass conservation assurance. In the current study, we focus mainly on the tidal dynamic processes in the Sunda shelf region, and we numerically scrutinize exact amphidromic systems as well as the corresponding energy flux of the principal tides (M2, K1, S2 and O1) in the Sunda shelf of the South China Sea. Water profile navigation with an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler 用声学多普勒水流剖面仪进行水剖面导航

A novel navigation method is introduced using water current profiles measured by an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) mounted on a moving vehicle. These current profiles are combined with measurements of vehicle attitude and depth to simultaneously estimate the local current and the vehicle velocity. This velocity estimate can be integrated directly to give a position estimate, or it can be fused with measurements from other navigation sensors, such as an Inertial Navigation System (INS), Long Baseline (LBL) or Ultra-Short Baseline (USBL) acoustic tracking system. The method allows an underwater vehicle to maintain an estimate of its global position throughout all phases of its mission, including descent and ascent.

Antenna design and performance assessment for fast high resolution sonar imaging using high bandwidth transducers and frequency domain compounding 基于高带宽换能器和频域复合的快速高分辨率声纳成像天线设计与性能评估

In this work, we present the design and performance assessment of a Multi Beam Echo Sounder (MBES) antenna for fast high resolution sonar imaging as a follow up to a previously presented concept based on high bandwidth transducers and frequency compound imaging. The antenna configuration consists of a modified mills-cross set-up of two linear array transducers with 128 elements each with a center frequency of 1.0 MHz. The elements of the antennas are set-up in a special geometrical assembly for ideal acoustic directivity. Each element consists of the acoustic sandwich optimized for sensitivity and bandwidth on a carrier for highly precise positioning and safe and simple electrical connection. The antenna performance was tested by means of water tank measurements on test targets. Channel data acquisition was performed using a digital acoustic research platform and beamforming was performed according to the concept presented earlier. The achieved spatial resolution and sensitivity correspond well with the theoretical expectations.

Benthic imaging AUVs can deliver down-looking imagery with consistent altitude and illumination. These images are well suited to image matching routines that form the basis for mosaicking, vision-based Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) and 3D visual reconstructions. We show how these same visual constraints can be used to (1) improve the real time dead-reckoning accuracy of AUVs equipped with magnetic compasses and (2) to quantify the accuracy of various corrections applied to measured pressure to determine vehicle depth. We present results from full coverage optical imaging surveys conducted in the field by our AUV to illustrate the impact of these refinements on the ability of the vehicle to successfully complete its missions and the quality of the resulting seafloor models.

A novel time series client is described along with the supporting infrastructure required. The need for such a client comes from the lack of uptake of time series data generated by sensor network projects such as the Great Barrier Reef Ocean Observing System project. Central to the client is the need for a Registry of available data sets that can be used by the client to discover what data is available. The Registry also links the metadata and SensorML records to the data itself along with a series of fields that can be used to search for data. The client enforces a workflow that includes data discovery, data display, data downloading and export and data exploration. The development of a client that meets these needs will rapidly increase the uptake and use of environmental sensor data.

Overview of Australian R&D in mine imaging 澳大利亚在矿山成像方面的研究概况

The Australian program in mine imaging was carried out under the Capability and Technology Demonstrator Program. The work on mine imaging was carried out by Midspar Systems in collaboration with DSTO. The aim of the program was to integrate advances in wide band technology to develop a system capable of detecting, localizing and classifying all mine types including stealth mines both on the sea floor and buried. The program ran from 1999 until 2006.

The performance analysis of diversity technologies for underwater moving channel environments using experimental data 利用实验数据分析水下移动信道环境下分集技术的性能

In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of diversity technologies using experimental data recorded from mobile underwater channel environments in order to analyze the usability of MIMO techniques in underwater channel environ-ments. After analyzing the experimental data we found out that high diversity gain should not be expected when using a stationary transmitter with a stationary array of receivers in swallow underwater channels.
为了分析MIMO技术在水下信道环境中的可用性,本文利用水下移动信道环境中记录的实验数据分析了分集技术的性能。通过对实验数据的分析,我们发现在吞咽水下信道中使用固定发射机和固定接收机阵列时,不应期望获得高分集增益。

Characterisation of suspended particles collected from an estuary in an urban and industrialised centre using magnets onboard an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle 在城市和工业中心的河口收集悬浮颗粒的特征,使用自主水下航行器上的磁铁

An Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) equipped with rare-earth (Sm-Co) magnets was used to sample suspended particles during its transects of the Derwent estuary in Tasmania. Mineral characterization was then performed in the laboratory using 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy (MB) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). Results indicate the sources of the suspended particles to be both natural and industrial.
