Non-smoking lung cancer and environmental exposure 非吸烟肺癌与环境暴露

While lung cancer mortality has been decreasing in many countries due to tobacco control efforts, at least one quarter of global lung cancer cases occur among non-smokers. There is growing attention being paid to the role of environmental exposures, such as radon and air pollution, in lung cancer. Additionally, recent research efforts have sought to elucidate the distinct characteristics of and mechanisms involved in lung cancer among never smokers. Continued research on non-smoking lung cancer is critical to identifying new opportunities for intervention and addressing the global burden of lung cancer.

Immunotherapeutics and other anticancer agents in the management of advanced gastric cancer 免疫疗法和其他抗癌药物在晚期胃癌治疗中的应用

Advanced gastric cancer (AGC) is characterized by high mortality. The survival is estimated as 14.2 months. The treatment of choice in the early stages of GC is surgery. Due to high potential of malignancy, postoperative chemotherapy is usually administered. Novel methods of treatment involve immunotherapeutic agents (IA). The new therapies seem to be a hopeful perspective for patients with advanced GC. In this review, we present the outcomes of clinical trials in GC treatment with IA and their mechanisms of action. Furthermore, we present the benefits and shortcomings of immunotherapy and describe potential directions for future research.

Short-course radiotherapy as a part of total neoadjuvant therapy for locally advanced rectal cancer – a new standard? 短程放疗作为局部晚期直肠癌新辅助治疗的一部分——新标准?

Selection of optimal perioperative treatment for rectal cancer remains a subject of controversies. Recently established new rationales for use of short-course preoperative radiotherapy (SCRT- 25 Gy in 5 fractions), instead of standard long-course preoperative radio-chemotherapy (LCRT-CT), are presented and discussed in the present review. New data suggest that short-course radiotherapy combined with 6 cycles of CAPOX, or 9 of FOLFOX4 may be considered, at present, the best option for perioperative treatment of high-risk rectal cancer. However, there is a clear need to further optimize preoperative treatment using rapidly evolving markers of treatment response, including microsatellite instability and targetable or predictive tumour mutations.
