The study evaluated the present scenario and effectiveness of the prevailing systems of biosecurity policy in microalgae culture premises of different shrimp hatchery in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) survey tool was used to assess the effectiveness of the biosecurity measures adopted by different stakeholders with the participation of 65 individual technicians’ from 27 different shrimp hatcheries. The KAP result indicates significant attitudes and practices gap among the technicians’. But the knowledge and attitudes scores were good (78.1% & 76.4%) where the practice scores were fair 63.5%. The survey data highlighted that the previous experience, educational level etc. have direct effect on KAP scores. However, there is no standardized systems are implementing in case of microalgae culture in hatchery premises. Through identifying some forthwith gaps, this work will help to identify all common problems and taking proper mitigation measures.

Socio-economic status of fishermen in cox’s bazar district of Bangladesh 孟加拉国考克斯巴扎尔地区渔民的社会经济地位

The current study has been conducted to evaluate the socio-economic profile of fishermen in Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh through a survey method. The socioeconomic profile of fishermen has been discussed in points of family size, age structure, educational status, religious status, housing condition, daily income, health facilities, sanitation, net used by fishermen, other subsidiaries, and training facilities. It has been observed that the family size of 59% of fishers was medium, consisting of 5-6 members. Most of the fishermen belongs to the age group 31-40 years old, represented by 83% Muslim. About half of the fishermen are illiterate and only sign their names. Most of the fishers (55%) have house made of mud walls with tin roofing, connected to electricity supply. The sanitation condition of the study is not up to the mark, as 63% of fisher communities are dependent on non-MBBS village doctors. The majority of them have medium to low income. Moreover, due to less Government support regarding credit facilities and trainings, their lifestyle remains unchanged and spend the whole life in measurable socio-economic status.

Knowledge of fish farmers on using artificial feed for catfish culture 鱼农在鲶鱼养殖中使用人工饲料的知识

Bangladesh's numerous inland lakes and river systems make capture fisheries and aquaculture here very promising. Bangladesh is producing more catfish since they are exceptionally resilient and can tolerate harsh weather conditions and unstable habitats. The aims of the research were to assess fish farmers' knowledge of using artificial feed for catfish culture and to identify the variables affecting their knowledge level. Thus, the research was conducted in three villages of Gauripur upazila (sub-district) of Mymensingh district. In-person interviews were conducted with 80 randomly chosen catfish farmers. According to the findings, the vast majority of respondents (63%) had medium-level and 32% had high and 5% of farmers found which have a low level of knowledge on using artificial feed for catfish culture. Formal education, fish farming experience, farm size, annual income, social mobility, communication exposure and training received were positively and significantly correlated with the knowledge of the respondents. Multiple linear regression analysis confirmed that formal education, communication exposure, and training received significantly influenced fish farmers’ knowledge. High cost of fish feed, inaccessibility of good quality fish feed and lack of proper training were identified as the major problems faced by the fish farmers. In connection to these difficulties, development agencies such as Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute, relevant non-government and private organizations should take appropriate action like regular need based training, method demonstration, result demonstration, field day, other extension activities to increase the fish farmers’ knowledge on using artificial feed for catfish culture.

The organoleptic properties of wet-salted marine fishes Mugil cephalus , Chanos chanos and Gerrs,es oyena were evaluated. The study showed that there is a marked preference of wet-salted M . cephalus to C . chonas and G . oyena . Mugil cephalus fish prepared at 20% salt concentration ranked as number one in the different organoleptic tests performed. The panel members disliked the colour of wet salted C. chonas and the texture of wet salted G . oyena . Wet-salted G . oyena (25%) scored the lowest rank with respect to all organoleptic tests.

Abnormalities in behavioral responses and hematological parameters of African catfish Clarias gariepinus juveniles exposed to acute and sub-chronic effects of mancozeb 受代锰锌急性和亚慢性影响的非洲鲶鱼幼鱼的行为反应和血液学参数异常

The present study investigated the effects of acute and sub-chronic exposure to Mancozeb on behavioral responses and haematological parameters of Clarias gariepinus juveniles. A total of 120 Clarias gariepinus with standard length and weight which ranged from 9.8 cm to 17.5 cm and 11g to 55 g respectively were used for the experiment. Prior to the experiment, determination of median lethal concentration. LC24-96h of Mancozeb, a total of 150 Clarias gariepinus juviniles were used. They were exposed to five treatments: 0.00, 150, 300, 450, 600 and 750 mg/L (A-E). While, during sub-lethal determination four treatments were exposed to 0.00. 20.55, 41.09 and 82.18 mg/L (A-D). Each group were replicated three times. Acute toxicity was carried out and the percentage mortality and survival were recorded. The 96 hours LC50 value of Mancozeb on Clarias gariepinus juveniles was estimated to be 410.90 mg/L. The physico-chemical parameters of water observed for five weeks showed changes and fluctuations in temperature range from 28 °C to 32 °C, pH levels ranged from 7.3 to12.3, Alkalinity range 0.88 to 4.10 mg/L, CO2 values ranged from 3-12.5 mg/L. While dissolved oxygen from 6.6 to 7.8 mg/L. Behavioral changes observed after 24-96 hours of fish exposure to different concentrations of Mancozeb revealed loss of equilibrium status and respiratory difficulties. The estimated safe levels varied from 41.09– 4.109 ×10-3 mg/L. Erythrocytes were sampled to investigate haematological parameters. The results showed significant concentration and duration-dependent decrease in RBC count, PCV, Hb and increased in WBC while MCH was not significantly different while MCHC and MCV fluctuated. The activities of neutrophils and lymphocytes were not significantly different among treatment groups whereas Monocytes, Basophiles and Eosinophiles fluctuated.

The diets of Hoplobatrachus occipitalis and Ptychadena mascareniensis were studied from January 2020 to June 2020 according to seasons, size classes and sex in two localities (Aboisso and Maféré) in southern Côte d'Ivoire. Analysis of the stomach contents of 169 specimens (34 specimens of P. mascareniensis and 135 specimens of H. occipitalis) revealed 14 food categories: Insects, Amphibians, Annelids, Arachnids, Arthropoda, Mollusks, Myriapoda, Nematodes, Fish, Reptiles, Trematodes, animal debris, Macrophytes, indeterminate foods. In both localities, P. mascareniensis is omnivorous with insectivorous tendencies, and H. occipitalis is omnivorous with carnivorous tendencies. Coleoptera and Orthoptera are the insects orders most frequently consumed by these species in these localities. The diets of these two species in these localities vary from season to season and from habitat to habitat. In each habitat, the diet of juveniles is different from that of adults for all species except P. mascareniensis at Maféré, where no juveniles were sampled. Only in Aboisso did the diet of juveniles differ according to sex.

Nile Tilapia cultivation with biofloc in the coastal area of Lake Batur as an alternative to using floating net cages has not been well developed. The main objective of this research is to analyze the efficiency of tilapia cultivation with biofloc in the coastal area of Lake Batur. This research is essential for developing tilapia cultivation with biofloc and limiting cultivation using floating net cages. The study was conducted in Songan B Village, Kintamani Bangli, involving a sample of farmers cultivating tilapia with biofloc. Data collection uses a questionnaire survey method to analyze the efficiency of tilapia cultivation businesses using analysis of the R/C Ratio. The research found that tilapia cultivation with biofloc was efficient with an R/C value = 1.02, a low survival rate of 66.69%, and a relatively large feed conversion ratio of 1: 1.52.

Composition, distribution and biometric aspects of sea grasses beds along the Sudanese red sea coast 苏丹红海沿岸海草床的组成、分布和生物特征

The qualitative and quantitative data of seagrass meadows using line transects and quadrates were collected at each of Marsa Bashayer, Marsa Dama Dama, Eastern part of Port Sudan Harbour (Green Area), Northern part of Port Sudan Harbour (Shipyard), Marsa Halout and Dongonab Bay in the Sudanese Red Sea Coast. The seagrass species were identified and their distribution, shoots density, shoots height, and above ground biomass were measured. Water depth and transparency, sediment thickness and grain size were analyzed. Ten species of seagrass were encountered. The mean shoot density varied between 2 and 8050 shoot/m 2 . The mean shoot height ranged between 1 and 72 cm. and the mean above ground biomass ranged between 8.9 and 985.9 g dry weight/m 2 .Generally, sites showed no major physical parameters differences among them excluding the water transparency which was lower in sites in the vicinity of high coastal activities area.

The current study primarily describes the length-weight relationship as well as condition factor of economically lucrative marine fish species; Sardinella fimbriata Valenciennes, 1847 and Sardinella lemuru Bleeker, 1853 of Clupeidae family from the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh. In total 42 individuals were collected from a fishing vessel on 7th September, 2022. A scale and an electronic balance were used to measure the length and weight. The slopes, b-values of these species were 2.7135 and 2.6745 respectively, indicating the growth was negative allometric. The intercept, a-values were 0.0197 and 0.0248. Moreover, the relative condition factors were 1.0011 and 1.0032, indicating the general well-being. The relative weights were 100.1065 and 100.3205, indicating the availability of foods and habitats. The current study offered the initial information on the length-weight association as well as the condition factor for the effective management of these species.

Many traditional preservation methods for fish have not been able to address issues of quality, whereas the modern methods of preservation are generally expensive for the rural poor. This study investigated the effect of ginger and garlic pastes as household preservatives on African Catfish in Ghana. Fish samples were treated with the paste of garlic, ginger, and a mixture of both garlic and ginger for 72 hours under ambient laboratory conditions. Samples were subjected to physical and microbial examination on a daily basis during the storage period. The garlic, ginger, and a mixture of both pastes as treatment extended the shelf life of the fish for three days. The untreated (control) fish had deteriorated in quality by the end of the third day with confirmation of extensive aesthetic deterioration and maggot infestation of the carcass.
