EnglishOvid, Amores 1.5, leading to a final disappointment of erotic expectations at the end of this elegy, has a correspondence in Ovid’s version of Europa’s myth in Metamorphosis 2.833–3.2. There the same expectation is widely aroused at the end of Book 2 and also disappointed at the beginning of Book 3. This paper compares both texts, linked by the special meaning of the word cetera.
