As the effect of school closure following the coronavirus lockdowns, the use of virtual classrooms has extremely rocketed to replace face-to-face school interaction. This change has resulted in new habits and adaptation in methods and approaches of teaching, particularly in the era of post pandemic recovery. This study is based on the phenomena occurred in most of school environments where digital (online) teaching practices become a new habit for teachers and students. A question that may arise is “do they still prefer online after the pandemic?” Drawing on this issue, this study aims to examine the beliefs of Philippines junior high schools teachers on digital teaching competence and to explore their preferences on teaching methods (online or offline) in post pandemic recovery. This study utilized a discovery-oriented qualitative approach, bridging into personal narrative and ethnographic perspective by involving twelve teachers teaching at several junior high schools in Davao Philippines. The results revealed that the teachers’ beliefs mattered in terms of digital platforms (tools) and classroom activities. The results further depicted that their acquisition of digital teaching competence greatly depended on teacher professional development programs and individual trainings. Moreover, this study also discussed the teachers’ preferences on the model of teaching either online or offline after the schools is opened. The results of this study contribute to providing valuable insights into redefining the situation of teaching and learning process in the era of post pandemic recovery.

In the recent years, flipped learning has become popular and been widely utilized as teaching approach to activate students’ learning engagement, which is frequently used to reverse the conventional teaching. However, much more efforts are necessary to enrich the literature about its practices across different teaching and learning contexts. This study is at the cutting edge of examining the practice of flipped learning in higher education contexts; as well as exploring its effects on students’ learning motivation, attitudes, and engagement. Data were collected using a questionnaire from 35 undergraduate students enrolled in “Introduction of Educational Technology” course at a college of education, and the data were tested using 24-version IBM-SPSS linear regression. The results demonstrated that flipped learning strategy is a positive predictor for students’ learning motivation (p-value 0.001 0.05), attitudes (p-value 0.007 0.05), and engagement (p-value 0.003 0.05). The results contribute to offering valuable insights for college stakeholders to enhance the efficacy of teaching and learning process, particularly for higher education curriculum designers to adapt to the current teaching approach. Instructional implication and research suggestions are provided based on the results of the study.

Arabic language education is a compulsory subject in Madrasah (Primary education level) under the auspices of the Ministry of Religious affairs. The students’ interest in Arabic language learning in Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Haq Rite Indonesia was very low. This is due to the students’ dislike of Arabic that demands the students to think, memorize, and be proficient in speaking as well as other skills. The current learning activities are non-varied and teacher-centered learning models. This study aims to determine the role of teachers in increasing students’ interest in Arabic learning. This study used a qualitative approach with field studies. Data collection techniques were interview, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques were in the form of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study on the roles of teachers indicate that; (1) the teacher provides motivation and guidance for every Monday ceremony and Imtaq activities on Friday, (2) the teacher only uses textbooks without semester learning plans and other learning tools, (3) the teacher uses non-varied methods ( such as the lecture and discussion method), (4) the teacher provides an assessment of learning outcomes, (5) the teacher provides evaluation or tests, (6) the teacher gives praise to students, and (7) the teacher punishes students who do not do assignments. The results of this study contribute as practical insights for teachers, especially Arabic teachers in maximizing their roles to increase interest in learning Arabic in schools.

Most of the students in Islamic boarding schools know the knowledge but do not implement it in daily life due to a lack of akhlakul karimah awareness. Based on this, a study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of the Three Success program in building the students' characters. Three Success program is a special program in Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Barokah Nandan Sukoharjo which consists of Alim Faqih, Akhlakul Karimah and Mandiri (Religious, Noble, and Independent). This research was a descriptive qualitative study. The subjects were Staff of Students Affairs, Students, and Ustadz (teachers) in the boarding school. The data collection was conducted by observation, interview, and documentation. To determine the validity of the data, the researcher used triangulation of methods and triangulation of sources. The data were analyzed using interactive data analysis with the procedure as data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The study results conclude that the implementation of the Three Success program was carried out by inviting students to participate in the activities within the program. This study contributes in overcoming the problem of students’ characters deviation in Islamic boarding school and as an effort to enrich the knowledge in the education field, especially those related to the character building of Islamic boarding school students.

Online learning is chosen during the Covid-19 pandemic. The problem that occurs is teachers as educators cannot directly supervise the development of students, so they need help from the informal educational institution.. In this context, parents take the role of facilitators during online learning. Not only limited to the educational function of parents, but it also has many roles that can be optimized so that children can grow and develop properly. The purpose of this study is toportray the role of families, especially parents in optimizing their role when online learning is present during the Covid 19 pandemic. The method used in this research was qualitative descriptive. This study used the data triangulation method as a technique to measurethe validity of the data. The analysis technique used in this research was interactive model analysis. The interactive analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The main results of this study were parents, apart from being an educational institution, whoalso took a role of being shaping children's character and personality that is to stimulate children's linguistic intelligence. Parents can also stimulate children's intrapersonal intelligence by adapting to behavior that is appropriate to the local cultural environment. The contribution of this research includes the function of parents which is not only maximizing scientific education but also deepening the internalization of spiritual and religious values in children, as well as building good communication is needed to optimize the role of parents to children.

A common challenge encountered by educators to engage in an emergency remote learning is the selection of an effective digital platform to assist teaching and learning activities. Drawing on this issue, this study offers a practical solution by scrutinizing the potential use of android-based application named Discord as a digital platform to conduct online teaching and learning. To this end, a group of elementary school teachers and students enrolled in Islamic religious and moral education courses was involved as participants in a descriptive qualitative research by employing interview, observation, and documentation as instruments to collect the required data. The results demonstrated that Discord android-based application was proven to be an alternative for elementary school educators as a digital learning platform during the emergency remote learning in the age of Covid-19 pandemic. The results of observation further showed that online teaching-learning activities using Discord application could successfully create communicative digital learning environment which was interesting and enjoyable for the students. Despite the potential advantages, a number of challenges were also discussed in this study. The results of this study contribute as a practical insight for teachers and students in assisting online learning activities as Discord application helps them experience a new nuance of distance learning.
