This paper presents linear position detection method using simple magnetic sensors and its arrangements at a mover. The sensor structure and best mounting position are determined by finite element analysis and the performance of it is evaluated by considering total harmonic distortion of generated waves. The experimental results prove the validity of the developed sensor system and show possibility of it for linear position detection to some low-cost linear servo system

The prior of blocky resistivity profile is formulated based on the minimal of total variation using Bayesian method, and the resistivity distribution is reconstructed by Maximum a posteriori (MAP). The Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method with Gibbs sampler is used to sample from posterior density. The simulations on the 2D model show the feasibility of the method.

A new method of the prediction of the electromagnetic compatibility of power system is introduced, and a new analysis software is achieved. Compared with the measured results, it is proved that electromagnetic transient simulation is reliable and effective, and it is high practical for researching and analyzing the substation electromagnetic compatibility. It also introduces the Gray prediction theory to predict the next electromagnetic interference of the substation. It is proved that the multivariable Gray prediction theory applied to the model electromagnetic interference prediction analysis is feasible, and it has more development space and application prospect.

The TLM (Transmission Line Matrix) method, in time domain, is extended to account for the presence of dispersive and anisotropic media in electromagnetic structures or devices. The model is thoroughly constructed by using Maxwell's equations that make it a unified general TLM formulation. The theoretical derivation was revisited, starting with Maxwell's equations, without invoking circuit analogy. The procedure is general and can be applied to derive the algorithm for new extended TLM nodes. The case of anisotropic ferrite-based structures is studied.

A formulation of finite element methods (FEM) for both two-dimensional (2-D) and axisymmetric magnetic fields - electric circuit cosimulation is presented. A matrix approach is introduced to deduce the formulation. The advantage is that a unified formulation is realised for both 2-D field and axisymmetric field.

This paper suggests an improved Electromagnetic Topology (EMT) method, based on Harmonic Balance (HB), to analyze electromagnetic field coupling to nonlinear system. In the proposed method, EMT and HB communicate in real-time. The voltage results from the HB are imposed on the EMT as boundary conditions and the voltage results from EMT are used for computing linear and nonlinear currents in the HB. Voltage responses on a voltage doubler in a cavity were calculated. Measurement and simulation results agreed.

This paper compares the hybrid FEM-BEM and FEM-DBCI methods for the solution of open-boundary electrostatic field problems. Both methods couple a differential equation for the interior problem with an integral equation for the exterior one. The comparison shows that FEM-BEM is more accurate than FEM-DBCI but requires more computing time.

This paper presents a Flywheel Energy Storage System based on the Z-source inverter with maximum boost control. The proposed system can boost and generate a desired output voltage efficiently when low voltage of the generator is introduced due to the low flywheel speed. Z-source inverter has been identified to exhibit both voltage buck and boost capabilities in steady-state. In order to provide the required voltage and power, the maximum boost control is used in the proposed system. Z-source inverter, which is used in Flywheel Energy Storage System, is modeled and simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

This paper presents a novel dual-structure permanent magnet machine which has the distinct merits of having a compact structure with high power and torque densities. Sensorless control of this proposed machine at low speed and standstill is realized based on the indirect flux estimations by online reactance measurement (INFORM) method using transient finite element (FE) analysis. An external power electronic circuit controlled by a digital signal processor is coupled with the FE machine model to compute and analyse the stator current variation and real-time inductances. Hence, the rotor position detection strategy of the machine can be optimally designed.
