An Analysis of Figurative Language in Poems by Laksmi Pamuntjak 拉克斯米·帕蒙提亚克诗歌中的比喻语言分析

Figurative language is used to beautify literary work, especially poems. It can make the poems more exciting and unique. But some readers cannot identify the figurative language used in poetry. The poem's readers will read, analyze, and interpret poetry without considering the use of figurative language. The research objectives were to explain the kinds of figurative language used in selected poems by Laksmi Pamuntjak and the use of figurative language in Laksmi Pamuntjak's poems. This is qualitative research with content analysis. This approach offered to analyze data by choosing some poems by Laksmi Pamuntjak, reading the poems, identifying the figurative language used in the poems, then analyzing the figurative language used in the poems. In analyzing figurative language in Laksmi Pamuntjak's poems, the researcher grouped them based on the figurative language used in each poem. In analyzing data, the researcher analyzed every figurative language found in the poems and the last drawing conclusion based on the result of the data analysis. This research revealed figurative language in every selected poem by Laksmi Pamuntjak. The figurative languages used in the poems vary. Each poem had characteristics, so the use of figurative language was also diverse. This research will give readers advantages, especially the lectures and the college students. There is hope that more research will analyze figurative language in poetry and other literary works.

A Pragmatic Analysis of Deixis and Reference on Kim Hanbin Songs 金汉彬歌曲的指示语与指称语用分析

This pragmatic study aims to examine the different types of deixis from Cruse’s theory and references using pragmatic analysis in Lost at sea and Got it like that songs using descriptive qualitative. The result found from the analysis is that both songs use all five types of deixis. The personal deictic words occ. Thehe first person mainly refers to the singer or the songwriter. The second person refers to the addressee that is remarked by “you and your” and the last is third person “it” refers to something or someone that becomes the main thing or character in songs. Furthermore, the use of spatial deixis is quite a lot for both songs. Next, the temporal deixis that appeared in both songs is similar. Temporal deixis has two types of deixis, in “Lost at sea” and “Got it like that,” the pure deictic and verb tense occurred. The last, the social and discourse deixis with different deictic words, also occurred in both songs. Hopefully, the result could be a reference for students in the Linguistic Field in analyzing the written discourse with a Pragmatic Approach.

Writing Summary as An Alternative Strategy To Comprehend The Text 摘要写作是理解文本的另一种策略

This paper is purposed to explain the use of Writing Summary as an alternative strategy to comprehend the text in teaching reading. Some researchers have applied writing the summary strategy to increase students' reading comprehension. Based on the results of those researches, showed that writing summary could effectively encourage students in comprehending the text well. Writing summary can help students enhance understanding of what is read. The strategy requires that students rewrite or outline only the important parts of the passage. Writing summary encourages students look for the most important parts and determine what parts of a passage are less important and what should be ignore. By using this strategy, the students need to read the whole text in order to make a summary using their own words. So, by writing summary based on what they read, they can comprehend a passage.

Students' Perception of Using Google Meet In English For Advertising Class at Universitas Bhinneka PGRI 宾内卡大学广告英语课堂学生使用谷歌Meet的感受

Indonesian’s students always does teaching learning process at school, but, the students can not do it during pandemic covid 19. To overcome this situation, there are some exchanges that is made. One of some exchanges is from face to face teaching learning process to online.Some applications as part of technology development are used to support teaching learning process. Eight semester students of English Department Universitas Bhinneka PGRI also face that. They use google meet to support English for Advertising class. The purpose of this study was to find out the lecture‟s way in conducting English for Advertising class and to know eighth semester students' perceptions by using google meet in English for advertising class during pandemic covid 19 at the English Department of Bhinneka PGRI University. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive method and data is random sampling data. Participants are eighth semester students who joined in English for advertising class at Universitas Bhinneka PGRI. It involves 25 students.Data collection methods used in this study were questionnaire and interview. As the results, it is found that From 21 statements, the students give 16 positive perception, 5 neutral, and nothing negative perception of the statements. From results of quetionnaire, most of the students give positive perception. And from the result of interview showed that the lecture always conduct teaching learning process by discussion method which is followed by assigmnents without giving motivation and feedback every meeting. Most of the students are happy and enthusiasm at the class.

The Importance of Teaching Listening Strategies in English Language Context 英语语境中听力教学策略的重要性

Learning listening will assist us in improving another targeted skill considerably. People demand to hear several types of English repeatedly and continuously if they want to communicate appropriately, meaningfully, and naturally. The objective of this paper is to explore. The importance of listening strategies, The strategies in teaching listening, and listening processes, especially Bottom-up and top-down strategies. Another purpose of writing this paper is to show teachers how they can influence students' learning process—notably, using strategies to make it easier for students to learn listening.

Students’ Perception on The Use of Video Recording in Public Speaking Class 学生对演讲课使用录像的看法

Video recording is used in Public Speaking class to cope with the new circumstances and condition of online learning during the spread of Covid-19 disease. This study was conducted to find out students' perceptions towards video recording in the public speaking class.  Descriptive qualitative approach was chosen as the research design. There were two kinds of techniques of data collection: questionnaire and interview. The research involved 30 students of class 2021 who have taken the Public Speaking class in their second semester at Pattimura University. Students’perception will be analyzed through three aspects: Psyhological aspects, Academic aspects and Technical aspects. The result of this study showed that most of the students had positive perception on the use of video recording. Students admitted that video recording facilitate a better speaking practice which in turn help them to improve their speaking and they feel that they can achieve the learning competencies (Academic aspects). The students also considered the process of making video recording as fun, and exciting (Psychological Aspect). Students also felt there is no significances difficulty in the process of making the video (Technical aspect). In light of the findings, video recording is considered a favorable and effective media for students in Public Speaking course.

Students Perception about Learning Strategies in Reading English Text 学生对英语篇章阅读学习策略的认知

Reading is an essential skill for learners in order to ensure their success not only in learning English, but also in learning in any content class. This study aimed at identifying types of students’ reading strategies, challenges during the implementation of those strategies and solutions in maximizing the implementation those strategies. This study was a survey research conducted at SMA Katolik Yos Sudarso Dobo. The data were collected by using questionnaire, which was distributed to the respondents consisting of 60 students and were analyzed by using descriptive statistic. The result of the study showed that: 1) 34 students or 56,70%  strongly agree that efficiency of silent reading strategies was the most dominant reading strategy used by them; 2) 40 students or 66,7% strongly agree that they find it difficult to understand the sentence in the English text; 3) 34 students or 56,70% strongly agree that they think about the information that is in the text into Indonesian when reading. The results of the study above reveals that reading proficiency plays a great role in understanding a written statement accurately and efficiency. Therefore, teachers should provide students with several of reading strategies that can help them to comprehend the text.

This study aimed at identifying types of students’ reading strategies, challenges during the implementation of those strategies and solutions in maximizing the implementation those strategies. This study was a survey research conducted at SMA Katolik Yos Sudarso Dobo. The data were collected by using questionnaire, which was distributed to the respondents consisting of 60 students and were analyzed by using descriptive statistic. The result of the study showed that: 1) 34 students or 56,70%  strongly agree that efficiency of silent reading strategies was the most dominant reading strategy used by them; 2) 40 students or 66,7% strongly agree that they find it difficult to understand the sentence in the English text; 3) 34 students or 56,70% strongly agree that they think about the information that is in the text into Indonesian when reading. The results of the study above reveals that reading proficiency plays a great role in understanding a written statement accurately and efficiency. Implementing Roleplay Strategy To Help Trainees' Speaking Ability At English Language Teaching Assistance (ELTA) Maluku and North Maluku (MMU) Program 在马鲁古和北马鲁古英语教学援助(ELTA)项目中运用角色扮演策略帮助学员提高口语能力

The article focused on the Roleplay strategy and the way to improve trainees' speaking ability. The subject of this research is the ELTA MMU trainees, and the materials used were taken from the concept of Role Play. This research consists of two cycles, with five meetings for the first cycle and three meetings for the second cycle, based on the schedule designed by the researcher. The researcher used oral tests to collect the data, and a questionnaire was used to gain the trainees' responses to Role Play. The data collected from this research shows that ELTA trainees' speaking ability is improved through Role Play. The trainees give positive opinions and responses during the use of Role Play. Based on the data, the researcher concluded that the element of speaking that has more progress for trainees' speaking improvement is comprehensive. The data shows that 9 to 10 trainees scored 3 in the first cycle, but in the second cycle, 8 to 15 participants successfully achieved a score of 4. From the result, it can be proved that the use of Role Play is successful in improving trainees' speaking ability.
本文着重探讨了角色扮演策略和提高学员口语能力的途径。本研究以ELTA MMU受训者为研究对象,所使用的材料来源于角色扮演的概念。本研究分为两个周期,第一个周期为五次会议,第二个周期为三次会议,根据研究者设计的时间表。研究人员采用口头测试的方式收集数据,并采用问卷调查的方式获得学员对角色扮演的反应。本研究收集的数据表明,ELTA学员的口语能力是通过角色扮演来提高的。在角色扮演的过程中,学员给出了积极的意见和反应。根据这些数据,研究者得出了对学员口语提高有更大进步的口语要素是综合性的。数据显示,在第一个周期中,9到10名学员得到3分,但在第二个周期中,8到15名学员成功获得4分。从结果可以证明,角色扮演在提高学员口语能力方面是成功的。

Enhancing EFL Undergraduate Students’ Speaking Fluency through Chunking 通过组块法提高大学生英语口语流利度

The objective of this research is to examine the impact of using chunking, multiword groups, on enhancing EFL Undergraduate students' speaking fluency. As a learner of English as a foreign language, the obstacle experienced in improving productive skills, especially in speaking such as fluency in speaking with minimal understanding of the importance of understanding how the native speaker uses many chunks in communicating fluently. In the initial stage of this research, students in the same class of speaking in general speaking skills through speaking skills tests and interviews in English to measure their general speaking skills in the same population. Furthermore, the class was divided into two large groups, control and experimental groups using the same material and speaking skills. However, the experimental group was given learning and practice using chunking to improve their fluency in speaking. In the final stage, the second group was given a posttest in the form of an interview with the same material to measure the difference in their level of speaking ability, especially the frequency of using chunking in speaking fluency. The findings showed a significant difference in increasing speaking fluency in the experimental group and positive attitudes towards the use of chunking in enhencing speaking fluency.

The Word Sorts Strategy 单词排序策略

This study discussed the use of Word Sort Strategy as a tool in teaching vocabulary. Teaching vocabulary is essential in language learning. The teacher should be able to use appropriate ways for teaching vocabulary so that the students can learn effectively Harmer, as cited in Yulianto 2010:19-20). Most of the students consider that learning vocabulary is difficult so that they lack interest and motivation. Students sometimes could only say and understand some words and could not develop their ideas well in their sentences. Therefore the teachers have a very important role to increase students’ motivation to learn supported by interesting ways as Word Sort Strategy. Word Sort Strategy contributes to increasing the students’ interest and motivation, making the students has a sense of the context of language and Word Sort can be a specific reference point. It can enhance students’ motivation in learning vocabulary.
