The paper presents the results of the experiments aiming at the quantitative assessment of the adverse effects that arise when the electric drive is powered by the alternating current (AC) power via a long cable. For elimination of negative influences were used various types of output EMI (electromagnetic interferences) devices. It was studied, how much mention devices reduce interfering influences - mainly overvoltage peaks and rate of voltage rise.

The paper deals with an angle of arrival (AoA) adaptive estimation in the case of coherent signals incident to an antenna array. The used methods are: forward/backward averaging and forward/backward spatial smoothing. The assumed signal model and mentioned methods are described and analysed. To prove the theoretical analysis measurements of a 4 element antenna array with an offline signal processing was performed and the simulation and measurement results are compared and discussed.

This paper describes various but still flow-equivalent analog realizations of the fourth-order autonomous deterministic system which exhibits the so-called Hamiltonian dynamics. Design process is described in step-by-step manner and supported by a deep experimental measurement. The main motivation of this work is to prove that mathematical model characterized by a state space volume conserving property can be successfully modeled by several lumped electronic circuits; each having cheap and off-the-shelf components but still providing structurally stable strange attractor.

The paper deals with the problems of the electromagnetic compatibility from the viewpoint of lightning current impacts on the electric and electronic railway equipments (mainly interlocking and telecommunications equipments) placed in the existing railway buildings. The main parts of these systems are remote controlled interlocking systems, station and open line interlocking systems, railway crossing systems and telecommunications systems like electronic fire warning systems, video systems, passenger information systems, remote and local diagnostic systems, public address systems, TRS and GSM-R radio systems and others. The paper contains summary of history of lightning safety measures and analyses the present state and its imperfections and gives new possibilities of placing of electric and electronic equipments in existing buildings respecting lightning strike problems. It focuses on the main problem of electric and electronic equipments from the viewpoint of lightning danger, i.e. insulating inner conductors against outer parts of lightning rod conductor and keeping enough distance and also proposes possible solution - using distant/insulated lightning rod and more measures (administrative, implementing and operational) and explains the principles of insulated (high-voltage) bonding conductors at railway applications.

In the past few years, great efforts have been made to develop a methods for through-the-wall detection of the vital signs of a human being such as breathing or heart beating. For such purpose, UWB sensor (radar) operating within the frequency band DC-5 GHz can be used as proper technical tool. In contrast to moving target localization is this task much more challenging. The basic principle of a breathing motion detection by a radar consists in the identification of a raw radar signal components carrying a significant power within the frequency band from 0.2 Hz to 0.7 Hz. Respiratory motion detection is a known task analyzed by a variety of methods. However, the problem of person localization based on their respiratory motion detection has not been studied very properly. This paper is introducing a simple approach of respiratory motion detection based on Welch periodogram method with the two-stage detector with subsequent target localization. Performance of the procedure introduced here will be illustrated by the experimental results obtained for through-the-wall detection and localization of three static persons.

Solution of the inverse scattering problem of an elliptically polarized plane wave on an anisotropic impedance cylinder at low frequencies was obtained. The parameters of uniform surface impedance tensor of the cylinder providing a given polarization of the scattered field, identical for all the observation angles of the field, the azimuth angle of incidence, the contour of the normal section of the cylinder and the polarization of the incident wave, except one fixed polarization, are defined. The class of realizable polarization conversions of this type is set.

In this paper, the comparison of a novel key-point image descriptors such as DAISY, BRISK, A-KAZE and LATCH with the well-known SIFT and SURF descriptors are tested and compared for the stereo matching algorithm. The main idea of this paper is to present an independent, comparative study and some of the benefits and drawbacks of these most popular image descriptors on stereo images. These descriptors are the primary input for the image correspondence algorithm (stereo matching algorithm). On this assumption, it is possible to estimate depth information from two stereo images. Two sets of experiments are conducted for relative performance evaluations. In the first part of our experiments, the accuracy of stereo matching algorithm using descriptors is demonstrated. The overall time execution is evaluated in the second set of our experiments. The all experiments have been tested on Middlebury stereo-dataset using programming language Python. The experimental result shows that the DAISY descriptor provides better results as A-KAZE or LATCH. On the other hand, DAISY descriptor is slower than SURF. The algorithm based on a DAISY descriptor is effective for matching stereo image pair and these correspondences can be used as input for 3D reconstruction.

This contribution is oriented to extend the possibilities of circuits simulation illustration that can be used in music or sensor technology. A typical example is Chua's circuit, which at bifurcation of only one parameter can generate a number of attractors. These can be showed not only in image format, but also as sound using Matlab application. It allows you to do a more complex vision of the bifurcation parameter impact in the circuit to the output signal.

This paper addresses the problem of signal detection in additive-multiplicative non-Gaussian noise, when the moment and cumulant functions are used to describe the random process. The new approach for statistical hypothesis testing is proposed. This approach is based on the development of the polynomial decision rules and new moment quality criterion statistical hypothesis testing. It is shown that nonlinear signals processing and taking into account the cumulants of third and higher order is allowed us to describe non-Gaussian process and increase the affectivity of signal processing.

This paper is focused on the optimal utilization of hardware resources within a processor during the execution of desired source codes. As an example, the algorithm which is commonly used for performance benchmarks was applied. In this paper we optimize the signal processing algorithm, FDFIR (Frequency Domain FIR filter) for the specific architecture of the eight-core digital signal processor TMS320C6678. This algorithm is suitable for benchmarking because it contains both forward and inverse Fast Fourier Transform and vector multiplication as well. The goal of the analysis is to describe and avoid any idle operations in the algorithm which extend the computational time and increase the power consumption of the processor. The proposed approaches were explained in detail for a test case with a very short vector length.
