This paper will research the singularity strength theory to stress distribution of a 135-degree sheet corner which bases on notch stress intensity factor (N-SIF) theory. The N-SIF formula is simplified through singularity strength 'as' which is related to structure size. Numerical simulations by ANSYS and regression analysis by MathCAD are done for a number of cases. Finally a simple assessment algorithms and the empirical formula for the notch stress are proposed and verified. The results can be used for structural strength and fatigue analysis.

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on the mechanical properties of synthetic fiber reinforced concrete with fiber volume fraction(Vf)from 0 to 3%.It was found that the compressive strength and elastic modulus decrease with the increase of Vf,the compressive strength is not sensitive to Vf when using macro fiber. The spliting tensile strength, flexural strength and flexural toughness increase with the increase of Vf.The enhancing effect of micro fiber is great in Vf of 1%,but grows slightly in higher Vf.The fascicular fiber shows better enhancing effect in high Vf,it might be applied to improve the mechanical properties of concrete even Vf more than 3%.The enhancing effect of high strength and modulus synthetic fiber on spliting tensile strength and flexural strength of concrete is similiar to steel fibre.

In this paper, acircular aerostatic bearing with periodic orifice restrictors and feed pockets is studied and the static and dynamic characteristics of the bearing are investigated through the perturbation method. The steady Reynolds equation and the perturbed Reynolds equation are solved using the finite difference method. The static load capacity and stiffness, dynamic stiffness and dynamic damping coefficients are obtained numerically.Effects of the perturbation frequency on the dynamic stiffness and dynamic damping coefficients,as well as stability of the bearing, are analyzed. Our results indicate that stability of the bearing depends on the gas-film thickness and the supply pressure. As the supply pressure increases, the gas bearing becomes less stable. With the increase of the gas-film thickness, stability of gas bearing first increases and then decreases.

A series of experiments were conducted to characterise neutralized acid residue from the synthetic rutile industry. Column sorption experiments were conducted to investigate the attenuation of DOC and nutrients in wastewater using neutralized acid residue. After 145 days, DOC, TP, PO4-P, TN, NH3-N, NOx-N and DON in neutralized acid residue/sand column effluent were reduced by 88.9%, 94.9%, 99.1%, 63.5%, -107.3%, 71.2% and 77.7%. DOC, TP, PO4-P, TN, NH3-N, NOx-N and DON in sand column effluent were reduced by -0.3%, -50.1%, -44.8%, -10.8%, -298.2%, 86.3% and -28.5%. The calculated removal rate of DOC, TP, PO4-P, TN, NH3-N, NOx-N and DON by neutralized acid residue are 88.9%, 96.6%, 99.4%, 67.1%, 47.9%, -110.1% and 82.7%. Neutralized acid residue exhibits good sorption of DOC and nutrients. Neutralized acid residue may be of benefit in reducing water pollution

In this article we investigate photo effect of vitamin D and foliate and the effect to the variation of skin colour. We use a UV/VIS spectrometer to record the absorption spectrum of foliate.Relating this to the synthesis of vitamin D and formation of melanin in the skin under UV radiation,we explain how all these factors contribute to skin colour change.Foliate degrades quickly when riboflavin is represented under UVB and blue light. The result indicates that human skin pigmentation may evolve as a protection of the UV sensitive vitamin folate in the blood and the balancing needs of folate protection and vitamin D production.
